Good 35º yawning morning. Yesterday was gorgeous and warm and sunny.
Today would
have been my Dad's 113th birthday. Leslie Laney. Being Irish and born the day
before St. Pat's ..... Missed it by a few hours! Darn! Pictures: 1946 and 1976
... with me ... and on their 50th anniversary..... He passed away in 1991. His
family came from Ireland, back then their name was O'Laney. The "O" was dropped
when they immigrated to the US as Irish weren't in good favor back then. The
family fought in the Revolutionary War...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!
xoxoxo
Today is also a special birthday... my palfriend Nancy Perry. HAPPY
BIRTHDAY girl!!!! Hope your birthday celebration dinner is FANTASTIC! Well "do

present. Don't beat Dave too hard with it!!! LOL.

Last night was the Elk's Corned Beef Dinner. The company was fun... Dee and Dale Yellin, Paul and Tammy Allgood, Bill Jackson and his gal Pat, Jennifer Murphy, and me. The food was EXCELLENT! Eric always does a fantastic job. He even showed me in the meat locker the way his corned beef (from Colorado) order comes in. Here is my plate... I was good... no potatoes just meat and veggies...
I ordered a carafe of chardonnay and added green food coloring to it.
Jennifer wouldn't drink it... said it looked "yucky" ! LOL.
Last night they gave out awards for the "Elk of the Month" for last and
this year and special awards for special Elks. I was made 'official photog' for
this, so will have to sort through the photos and send them to the new Exalted
Ruler, Tom, who asked me to do this. Will make a Smilebox and post tomorrow.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Sunday. Ciao.

So glad the Elks are still around. When I was in high school, they sponsored a marching band I played in.
How neat. What instrument did you play? xo
Lydia, I didn't know you were in the marching band. Interesting. We were a band family. The most fun time in my life with my boys in the high school band.
Happy birthday to your Irish dad! My dad was mostly Irish too and also passed away in 1991.
Love love that video! What a funny!!
Thanks for that video you sent about cooking the corned beef in the crock. I have never chopped my cabbage but will try it that way this time. I have always thought the potatoes would be over done cooking for that long but will try it since that's what they said to do.
Your dinner plate looked scrumptious. Kudos for not having the potatoes. I couldn't have been that good. I would have had some of that green wine! :)
I look fwd to the Smile Box tomorrow.
XO Trisha
Thanks T. You can always mash the soft cooked potatoes add bacon, butter, milk, and then some chopped cabbage and have colcanon. xo
