Good 34º and now no chance of rain
morning.
Today is it! Shortest day of the year...
Winter Solstice is an astronomical phenomenon occurring in December every year when Sun's elevation with respect to Earth reaches its lowest value (-25.5 degrees). It is accompanied by the longest day on South Pole and the longest night on North Pole of Earth. Today, December 21st, 2013, it occurs at 12:11 P.M EST.

The winter solstice is the shortest
day of the year, respectively, in the
sense that the length of time elapsed between sunrise and sunset on this day is a minimum for
the year. Of course, daylight saving time means that the
first Sunday in April has 23 hours and the last Sunday in October has 25 hours,
but these human meddlings with the calendar and do not correspond to the actual
number of daylight hours.
Yet as the old wise man once said, it truly
is darkest before the dawn. After the Winter Solstice, the light slowly
begins its inevitable return, and the days begin to grow blessedly longer,
flipping the switch to ON for the inevitable countdown to spring

on a lunar trajectory for the

Dinner last night was another experiment...
Quinoa, salmon, artichoke hearts, butter, capers, garlic, spicy
tabasco, (not showed .. pomegranate balsamic vinegar), black
beans.....
I put the quinoa in the rice cooker with water and
garlic....
Then I drained and rinsed the beans, drained the hearts... then
tossed them with the pomegranate balsamic. Put them in the steamer basket over
the quinoa. Added the drained salmon, a little tabasco on that, then a pat of
butter on top. Spread the beans and hearts around the outside.
Turned the rice cooker on and let it cook and steam.
OMGOOD!!!! Today for lunch I'll heat the quinoa mixture and put it
on top of some spring greens, that have been drizzled with olive oil and
balsamic vinegar~
All I know. Busy Saturday. Enjoy the calm before the storm. Nuff
said. Ciao.

Look on the Bright Side Day is today. We hope you see the light.
Literally looking on the bright side may be a bit difficult today. It is winter
solstice, the shortest day of the year. And, December days tend to be cloudy.
However, we're going to be optimistic, and fully expect you to succeed.
Look on the Bright Side Day is a day to be optimistic. The term itself
is an optimistic one. It calls upon us to look for something positive, out of an
otherwise bad or sad situation. Often, a bad experience has positive lessons to
be learned.
It's also National Flashlight Day

Today is also the birthday of Art & Carol Herrera's oldest daughter Lisa. Dec. 21. The funny thing is Carol's bday is the longest day of the year, June 21.
That Coke video makes me tear up every time. It's so funny but so touching at the same time.
When my mother was a young girl in a one room school house in Arkansas, her teacher put all the students in her Model T (mother and others sat in the rumble seat) and she took them to see their first movie, Snow White.
Another amazing creation for dinner!
Hugs, Trisha
