Good 41º morning. We hit a glorious 52º yesterday! Nice. Most snow
everywhere is now melted.
Good short video.... get out the Kleenex.... thinking of all
those servicemen and women who are away from their families .... God Bless them
all! And, to everyone who has put on a uniform and served... Thank you!

Yesterday afternoon
I went out to Loretta Oddo's home. She is Joe Kirk's mother-in-law... Jo Ann's mom.
She has her house decorated unbelievable for Christmas. Her bathroom has more
decorations than most homes!!! Just lovely. And she has a full size Santa by the
front door...who dances!
Loretta and Dee
with Santa...
And a little one
who shows off his backside!
We had all sorts of
goodies to eat. She even gave each of us a holiday decorated wine glass to bring
home!
Joe and Jo Ann's
Bella was so sweet... Here she's trying to charm Dee out of a piece of
cheese...
Good time catching
up with Joe and Jo Ann, since they moved to the coast... and Dee and Dale.
Unfortunately the whole gang couldn't be there. We'll plan another get-together
after the holidays.
Home and
football...
All I know. Happy
Christmas Eve. Nuff said. Ciao.

December 24th
National Egg Nog Day comes but once a year. It celebrates a special,
traditional holiday drink. It is consumed with or without Rum. The timing
couldn't be any better-- the day before Christmas--- Christmas Eve!
(Actually the BEST egg nog is made by my high school BFF, Sandy Todoran Beck.... Her's is AWESOME!)
Egg Nog is a seasonal holiday drink. It appears just before Thanksgiving, and
is enjoyed by many at the Thanksgiving meal. Consumption then takes a break
until the December holidays are in full swing. Consumption of egg nog peaks on
Christmas Eve. By the New Year, it is no longer available in stores. If you want
eggnog after New Year's you will likely have to make it yourself.
No one seems to know who created National Egg Nog Day. But, egg nog lovers
are ecstatic that this day exists. It's loaded with stuff that tastes really
good. It's loaded with stuff that's not good for you. Egg Nog afficienados will
tell you that its mmmmm delicious!
The Correct Spelling: This holiday drink is spelled "Egg Nog" and
"Eggnog", about equally. The carton in the store spells it "Egg Nog". Which is
correct? It depends upon how much rum is in your Egg Nog! ... bottoms
up!
Old English Eggnog:
6 eggs
1 cup sugar
2 quarts light cream
1 pint cognac
1 cup light rum
1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
cinnamon or nutmeg
Separate egg yolks and whites. Refrigerate whites. In large
bowl beat yolks well. Gradually add granulated sugar, besting until well mixed
and light. Add cream, stirring until well mixed. Slowly stir in Cognac and Rum.
Cover and refrigerate 2-3 hours. About 1 hour prior to serving beat egg whites
until foamy..gradually adding in confectioner's sugar, beating well til soft
peaks form. Gently fold whites into eggnog. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Sprinkle a little cinnamon on top of each serving ..... or grate a little fresh
nutmeg on
top.
