Good 30º foggy (what else is new) morning.
Depressing.
Yesterday mostly foggy all day until late afternoon... to the north of me
low clouds/fog hung on the mountain...
and to the south there was blue sky!
As I was out on the porch taking pictures.... Mr. Hummingbird was being
nosey...
and so were the turkeys....
Yesterday I went into town, picking up mail at the post office, prescription at pharmacy, and shopping at the market. Ran into my pal and one of my BFF's Nancy Perry. We had a chat and hugs and a promise to get together SOON! Then also ran into an old friend, Dana Alden. He and his wife Janie, good friend!, are leather people. They make saddles, chaps, purses, sandles, belts..... and their son Tim is a boot maker! He has a leather shop in downtown Rogue River.
http://www.r6leather.com/layout.htmWhen Jerry died, he was into making holsters and I gave a bunch of his leather stuff to the Aldens. He would have been happy. He knew Janie from the vet's office and liked her. Anyway, Dana and I had a long conversation. Been a while. Good to see you Dana! Had run into Janie and Tim not too long ago either. Need to take a bottle of wine up to their house and sit and chat soon! (When are you going to be home Janie?????)
PICTURE of the day... (saw on JoAnne Webb's FB
page)
This stunning image is actually five women decorated by
world champion body-painter Johannes Stötter to look like an amphibian.
Absolutely amazing.

Pozole (Nahuatl: pozolli po'solːi), which means "foamy";
variant spellings: pozolé, pozolli, or more commonly
in the U.S. – posole) is a traditional pre-Columbian soup or stew from Mexico, which once had ritual
significance. Pozole was mentioned in Fray Bernardino de
Sahagún's "General History of the Things of New Spain" circa 1500. It
is made from nixtamalized cacahuazintle maize, with
meat, usually pork, chicken, turkey, pork rinds, chili peppers, and other
seasonings and garnish. After colonization by the Spaniards, the ingredients of
pozole changed, but the staple maize remained. It is a typical dish in various
states such as Sinaloa, Michoacán, Guerrero, Jalisco, Morelos, State of Mexico and Distrito Federal. Pozole is
served in Mexican restaurants worldwide.
Since maize was a sacred plant for the Aztecs and other inhabitants of
Mesoamerica, pozole was made to be consumed on special occasions. The
conjunction of maize (usually whole hominy kernels) and meat in a
single dish is of particular interest to scholars because the ancient
Mesoamericans believed the gods made humans out of masa (cornmeal
dough).
Kristen sent her recipe. Sounds
good...

I will make this and will also put the cabbage and radishes in the stew.
Cooked radishes are HEAVENLY!!! If you ever make a pot roast, roast chicken, crockpot turkey breast (topped swith cranberry sauce mixed with onion soup mix) the last hour add in a bunch of whole radishes. OMG. You will be amazed.

Words of frustration have been streaming from my mouth. Computer is acting up. Will have to go see Turk this coming week, at his convenience. Sigh..... So, if you don't hear from me (blog, email, Facebook) you will know 'Hal' has taken a dump. I have been doing the 'restore', defrag, and scan stuff.... at least for the time it's working. Maybe a whole new computer is in the works. I'll ask Turk.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Saturday. Ciao.

Why the bad mood? The depressing fog?
Kristen's posole looks and sounds like the one I make. The Mexicans (except for the Diaz famy of course) say that the authentic way is with pork. I enjoy it with any kind of meat tho. Chicken is good as long as it's spicy enough.
The kids phone thing is funny and so true! Debbie already gives Isabella her phone and shows her how to push the right things to listen to the music she loves. I am always afraid she is going to drop it on the tile floor.
I'll swear that child isn't much interested in kids toys. Her favorite is the TV remote so Daryl and Becky gave her her own for Christmas. She loves it!
OK Now cheer up! It's the Pats playing today and hopefully they will win! :)

I only know of onething( so far) that I can't stand the taste of; and that's hominy. Hope your Christmas was good Sue. Xo Liz
It may be unpleasant to have the fog hanging around, but Lord, it sure makes for beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing those with the rest of us.
Love your kiddie phone history - so true!!!
I hope Hal doesn't have some serious virus or bug :(

Sue,
When Kevin is finished with his forensic reports and gets his certification I am talking him into starting a small business. So many of my friends are having computer problems. His expertise is fixing them by remote for big companies. So I told him to charge a low fee and help my friends and his so they don't have to lug their computers into the fix it shop!
XO Trisha
