Good 36º morning. Yesterday hit 74º. Surprise.
Can you say "Fall" ....
Downtown Rogue River....
.... and my place....
"10-20" .... what is your location?
Also forgot to tell you that Bill & Jeannie LOVED the movie Gravity
with Sandra Bullock!
I was feeling sad yesterday morning... thinking about Sweetest
Day and missing my Darling and then thought about Maggie, Harley, Yukon and all
the rest of my love critters... then told Him that He truly blessed me with lots
of love and I appreciated that. The sadness was still hanging on when I looked
outside... Bruiser ran out and lay down in the tree stump sawdust, as if laying
in wait for Dude. Dude saw him and chased him around the yard, "Get off my
sawdust!!!" Then I started laughing. That is why they were introduced into my
life, to bring me love and laughter. Sigh........
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Then........... I guess my ideas/opinions start controversy... I was told
the pears would "lose all their food value and to can them just as they are." I
am making a sauce to be put on ice cream, pancakes, waffles, etc... not looking
at 'food value'.
Then another friend wrote: "Boy, those pears look so great. Going to buy
some and make that. Don't know why I never thought of it. Pear sauce instead
of applesauce. Great! I bet it would be awesome inside some kind of Pillsbury
biscuit or roll and then crimped shut and either deep fried or baked in oven.
Yum yum. Sugar sprinkled on afterward, too. Oh decadent!"
Next, Palmolive soap is not as good as Dawn... tested by a friend.
THEN, re the shingles shot: "The shingle shot has pros and cons, you might
want to check it out on the web....just like the flu shot - I have known folks
who have died from complications from the damn flu shot, sometimes all those
things are not really good for us important to check them out! I do not want the
shingles, have had many friends with it and not a fun thing to deal with, one
friend had them on her face and around her eyes - I went over 3x/day for weeks
to put drops in her eyes as she could not do herself and lived alone! I had
thought about getting one until I did some research...." ...
BUT on the other hand a friend said the shingles shot has done her a lot of
good because "I am a life long sufferer of the herpes virus family. I've even
been hospitalized as a child and fed through a tube because of sores all over my
face and inside my mouth. I get them in the oddest places. The cheeks of my
face, my armpit, etc. They are sooooo painful and last 10-14 days. I get
flu-like symptoms too. Aches, runny nose and low grade fever. I could not wait
to get my shingles shot. Coincidentally (?), my episodes of other sores have
diminished significantly. I highly highly recommend that everyone get this
shot."
And another friend wrote: "
OMG GIRL. If you haven't had shingles, do get the shot, because you don't
want them.
I had them in '92 and still remember the pain. Pete got them 2 months
later, and still recalls that pain too.
Protect yourself....they last too long.....and they really hurt.
Hugs,C.
Ok, ladies, thank you for your input. I'm gettin' the shot!
One more thing... I goofed on my blog first thing and said
"Peyton Manning was going back to Baltimore to play his old Colts. " The phone
rang. Brian asked if I was going back in time with a brain fart... the Colts are
now in Indianapolis!
Baltimore
Colts (1947–1950), an All-America Football Conference franchise (1947–1949)
and National Football League franchise (1950) that disbanded after the 1950
season
Baltimore
Colts (1953–1983), a National Football League franchise founded in 1953,
which relocated to Indianapolis in 1984
YES, I did have a brain fart..... back in time! Thanks B! xo And thanks,
you make me laugh too!
crockpot with sugar/cinnamon/ginger/nutmeg/water in the food processor and made
"sauce", then cooked it down in a big pan. Canned it. PJ stopped by, gave her a
taste and asked if she'd like a jar."YES!" (smiling) it's really
GOOD!
All I know. Happy Sunday. Nuff said. Ciao.
You all always seem to be having so much fun. Enjoyed the Smile Box.
So no comment on the food? I must admit it didn't look like food that I would enjoy much. Potato salad maybe.
I admire your canning talents. I would probably end up killing my family if I tried it. :(
Hugs, Trisha
Glad you enjoyed the Smilebox. As for canning, clean jars and lids and rings are crutial. Boil everything first and the waterbath seals everything. Easy. xo
I haven't brandied peaches in years. Will have to see what is at the farmer's market.
Thank YOU for the inspiration- unless I gain weight taste-testing- in which case, I promise to forget who tempted me back.
Hey BFF, Great blog, well done! I still have to go back and read some history stuff, but I think you expressed yourself well, and always remember, your blog, your right to say what you want!
Your pear sauce was absolutely delicious, and had food value to me. Spread that on anything and Yum yum!
Last night was fun. Funny Smilebox, but, again, you weren't in the pics. Guess the guys must be intimidated by your new camera. Hmmmmmmmm, they are going to have to work on that. As far as the food, not so good in my book, but then, I'm really not the food countysewer. LOL
Okay, going back to read stuff. Have a wonderful day. Chat later. xo
Jeannie
Oh Lyida, "taste testing" is a good thing.... just gobbling food is bad. xo
Thanks BFF. The food could have used a "professional" touch and more seasoning!!!!! Also, more heat as the beans were cold, the sausage was cold, and the 'sour-bratton' wasn't the best cut of meat. Oh well. As I said, "it was interesting". xo
Gary had shingles and they got in his eye! He almost lost vision in that eye. I kept meaning to sign back on yesterday to encourage you to get the shot! He was miserable!
I haven't watched the Smilebox yet- because I wanted to be sure and tell you that today!! I'm going back to watch the Smilebox! Love t&g
Will do, for sure, Tammy! xo
