Good 54º already smokey morning. UGH.
You can see the smoke making the mountain back of me hazy.
(1:30pm yesterday) Still not letting Dude do his morning run.
Red
Cross shelters in Grants Pass and Glendale have closed.
Red Cross volunteers will continue to distribute face masks and water at the Josephine County Fairgrounds and roving groups of volunteers will be handing these items out in the communities of Merlin and Cave Junction.
WHY DOESN'T THE NATIONAL NEWS EVEN MENTION THE FIRES IN OREGON....THEY ARE THE #1 PRIORITY IN THE COUNTRY, AS FIRES GO. Pathetic!Red Cross volunteers will continue to distribute face masks and water at the Josephine County Fairgrounds and roving groups of volunteers will be handing these items out in the communities of Merlin and Cave Junction.
Firefighters continue to fare well against the Brimstone Fire that is burning 10 miles northwest of Merlin and they now have the blaze 60 percent contained. The fire has burned 2,298 acres in total and firefighters have the fire 100 percent lined and are continuing to bring hose into the fire to continue mop-up. 660 firefighters are on scene with 31 engines and 7 helicopters.
Updates
from ODF.... new fires in Oregon...
And this morning looking east before the sun makes it's
appearance... smokey.
Hi Mom, whatcha doin'??
Yesterday I noticed I had three bananas that were getting over
ripe. I don't like to eat them that way. Sat down at my computer and an email
popped up from a blog I follow on Crockpot Banana Bread.....using 3 over ripe
bananas!!! Fate.
So I made the banana bread! Here is her recipe... I have two
crockpots, a 3 quart and a 6 quart... I used the 3 quart. I didn't have any dark
corn syrup, so I used molasses. I sprayed the crockpot with cooking spray
instead of "greasing and flouring" it. And I added about a cup of chopped
pecans!
I found this recipe at www.smashedpeasandcarrots.blogspot.com
Crockpot Banana
Bread
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/3 cup butter or margarine
2/3 cup sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
2 tbsp dark corn syrup
3 ripe bananas, well mashed
Grease and flour a 4 1/2 quart crockpot. Mix flour, baking powder, salt,
and baking soda together in a small bowl, set aside. Cream butter with an
electric mixer until fluffy. Slowly add sugar, eggs, corn syrup, and mashed
bananas. Beat until smooth. Gradually add flour mixture to creamed mixture.
Pour into crockpot, cover and cook on high for 1 1/4 to 1/2 hours or until
toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let cool, then invert bread onto serving plate.
OMG it's soooooooooooo good!!!!
I ate this piece before dinner..... dessert before dinner! Mmmm.... so had
a small bowl of leftovers for the meal. LOL

National Waffle Day
Remember, cook the cookie dough in the waffle iron and make
waffle cookies! Or that cheese sandwich, instead of grilling it, cook it in the
waffle iron for a cheese-sami waffle!

Bread looks yummy. Wll have to try that one! - Jen
What an adorable little loaf that turned out to be! So cute! It looked super moist too. I should have made that when Becky lived here. The men don't really eat that kind of stuff. :(
OK today making the Burgundy Beef! :)
Love loved Bandstand! I didn't realize it had just started airing when I came home from Parnell to live with mother in June of '57. I would turn it on every afternoon and dance in front of the TV. :) Those kids dancing on the show became celebrities! Memories!!
