Setting Moon ~ Sleeping Bees ~ Yosemite ~ Peeling Garlic

Good 52º a few wispy clouds morning.
You can just see the moon going down over my mountain....(top right)

While I was out taking pictures I noticed the bumble bees sleeping on the lavender stalks and in the artichoke flowers...

England and the world is all a twitter about the new prince being born yesterday. Glad they have something to be happy about, because folks in this country are sure still dragging out that Zimmerman verdict. Now Stevie Wonder, Jay Z, Kanye, and Madonna are boycotting the state of Florida in protest. Oh, come on people! Madonna? Geeeeze......... There certainly are more important things going on and things that need attention. Doesn't anyone care about the flag draped caskets coming home instead of a dead druggie burglar????
Ok, off the

I was asked about the hats........
William Holden - Steve McQueen - Ben Johnson ~ Michael Landon

We had a couple Reserve Deputies who worked at the Sheriff's Biscailuz Pistol Range in ELA, who worked in the movie industry. They liked Jerry (he was the armorer for the department the last half of his Deputy career), and they knew he loved cowboy stuff, so they brought him the hats. They are autographed inside.

This was sent to me by Ann Ramirez (LASD ret) and I can't recall if I posted it or not ... this IS Bruiser:

Deewayne Honeee P-berger sent this ... pour a cup of coffee or wine, depending, and sit back and watch this high definition view of Yosemite. Awesome!

Historically this date...........
1829 – In the United States, William Austin Burt patents the typographer, a precursor to the typewriter.

1929 – The Fascist government in Italy bans the use of foreign words.
  ....OMG, maldito! Stupide! Idiota!

196712th Street Riot: in Detroit, Michigan, one of the worst riots in United States history begins on 12th Street in the predominantly African American inner city. It will leave 43 killed, 342 injured and 1,400 buildings burned.

To help end the disturbance, Governor George W. Romney ordered the Michigan National Guard into Detroit, and President Lyndon B. Johnson sent in Army troops.

1984Vanessa Williams becomes the first Miss America to resign when she surrenders her crown after nude photos of her appeared in Penthouse magazine.

And births this date include...
1912 – Michael Wilding, English actor (d. 1979)

1918 – Pee Wee Reese, American baseball player (d. 1999)
... interesting how his life evolved to baseball.

1936Don Drysdale, American baseball player (d. 1993)
... another interesting story... two Dodgers sharing a birth date!

1961 – Woody Harrelson, American actor
..........what an Adam Henry! (and creepy!)

1973 – Monica Lewinsky, American White House intern, author, and handbag designer
     .......a girl without morals.........

Messing in the kitchen I had watched a video on how to peel garlic fast.
Decided to see if it really worked, but didn't want to peel a whole head, just a few cloves. I took two matching bowls, pulled some cloves off the head of garlic, put them in the bowl, put the other bowl over the top, and shook them HARD for a few seconds.... Voilá...

Jeannie tried this, using two plastic bowls and it worked! Saw another video where the chef put the garlic cloves in a drink shaker...same result! Awesome! SOOOO easy and fast!

Yesterday I was shopping... James Van Praag was to be giving a show in September at the Rogue Theater. I stopped in to buy tickets, but the show manager said the date has been changed, and there was no indication when! Grrrrr..... Stopped in to see Brian then off to Safeway. My car thermometer said it was hot!
But here at home the temp was 99º. I don't know where the thermometer in a car is located, but it must pick up heat from the ground or the engine. Guys?

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.

I was stationed on an RCAF base in Northern Quebec when all this was going on, and of course it was on TV there. One of the USAF exchange officers was married to an English girl, and she turned to him and said (in her VEDDY British accent), "Tell me, Jerry, do you think the colonies are really ready for self government/"

ROFLMAO!!

I am a day late in commenting on this one. I had to tell you that John loved the sound of the green grapes with the mayo and p. butter.
He told me you put them in the freezer but I told him I didn't think so. SO I had to come back and look! You said "refrigerate", not freeze! HA!! He wants me to make some.

I absolutely loved the garlic peeling method! I dearly hate using fresh garlic because of the peeling! I use the minced kind in the jar. Thanks for this great tip!!

Trish, the grape salad is great but best room temp. You can freeze grapes and put them in your wine to keep it cold and keep from diluting the wine. xo
