Good 32º cloudy morning. Snow mostly all melted except for a few spots and the barn roof. Lots of accidents on the
roads in Medford yesterday. Idiots not slowing down in icy snowy conditions.
My friend Erika's dog, a black lab Jake, was attacked by another dog
yesterday and had part of his left ear ripped off. He went to the vet's for
surgery. I'm waiting to hear back how he's doing. Poor Jakey, such a sweet boy.
How about this.... do you like Brussels Sprouts? If not, this may be the
turnaround for you...
Roasted Lemon/Garlic Brussels Sprouts:
4 cups Brussels sprouts, washed and trimmed, and cut in half
1 head garlic, skin removed on each clove and quartered
1 t. dried thyme leaves
Juice of half a lemon and 1/2 T lemon zest
3 T olive oil
1/4 t. sea salt and fresh ground black pepper
Preheat oven to 400º
Toss Brussels sprouts and rest of ingredients in large bowl. Drop onto
shallow baking pan and roast until tender and edges begin to brown, about 20-35
minutes. Shake the pan every 5 minutes to brown sprouts evenly. Sprinkle with
more salt and serve immediately.
Bruiser came in yesterday and slept on Harley's spot (dining room chair) for a long time. He
went out and did some 'hunting' in my pasture and was back in for TV time and he
slept in my rocking chair! I do wish his "journeying" would cease and he'd just
stay here. I miss him so when he's off doing his wandering.
Historically this date....
1972 – Apollo program: The last
manned lunar flight, Apollo 17, crewed by Eugene Cernan, Ron Evans and Harrison Schmitt,
returns to Earth.
1998 – Lewinsky scandal: The
United
States House of Representatives forwards articles I and III of impeachment against
President Bill Clinton to the Senate.
.....just like the current President, it's all a huge miscarriage of justice
with a fraud in office!
And births this date include....
...lose the beard dude, you look dorky!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Hump Day. Ciao.

Thank you my sweet Italian son!!! I love you too. I wish for you a spectacular Christmas!!! xoxoxo
AHHHH Poor Jakey! I hope he heals quickly and is out of pain.
Daryl made a Brussell Sprouts concoction for Thanksgiving. I don't even remember tasting it as there was so many things on my plate. Guess it was good because the bowl was empty at the end of the day!
I guess wandering is in Bruiser's blood. Let's just hope he doesn't run into anymore fights while he's out and about!
Hugs! XO Trisha
I've never been a fan of Brussels sprouts, but I will try this recipe. xo
I love brussel sprouts- no one else in my family does though:(
Poor Jakey is right! The ear and the beard Jake. Jake G. looks like a monkey and I hope Jake the Lab gets better real soon. Did you see my FB post about mushrooms, Sue? A dear friend just lost her westie to mushroom poisoning. Wild mushrooms were growing in the yard from all the rain we've had.Her dog ate one and died. We do a daily mushroom check now. Love t and g
I will check your FB Tammy. Sorry about your friend's dog. Sad. Our friends lost their dog to grape poisoning. Grapes and raisins are bad bad bad for dogs. xo
Remember Sides ate grapes- tiny grapes on the vine. We got him to the vet on time and pulled up all our grapes!
Labs tend to eat ANYTHING! When Sidesy was living here for that week he chewed up most of my wood pile on the porch! Glad you got him ok in time! xo
