12-1-12
Good 45º POURING rain again morning. We missed viewing the full moon. Too
many clouds. Dang.
Rain rain rain, all night long. We are up to 4½" since Wednesday night. Of
that 1½ inches from yesterday morning to this morning. The creeks are a
risin'.
On this date in 1997 we bought this house... lots to look forward to. Here
it is, sagging roof, no fence, and siding was T1-11 (barn siding). We did a lot
of fixing up...
.... and we had Harley with us... he was 6 years old ....
Back then he was like Bruiser, and outside cat and a hunter. He had his
food/water dishes and a bed in the bed of Jerry's 1955 Chevy pickup in the
carport. Now, of course, he's an indoor guy. Too old and frail to be outside.
So, in his place we now have Bruiser.... he earned his "keep" yesterday when he
brought me a fresh kill. A mole! Danged little moles make a mess, not only in my
yard, but all over the property. Bruiser jumped up on the porch with this thing
in his mouth, dropped it in front of the glass door and looked at me! "Look mom,
see what I brought you! Aren't you proud of me?" Yes, I am!!!
When he was finished playing with the poor dead critter, he ate it. All he
left was the face (on the right) and whatever that organ is...
Then it was nap time...
.....of course, and Maggie too!
Out back the Toms, or as we call them ... "the Thanksgiving escapees", were strutting around and a lone hen was fluffing out her
feathers... whether or not she was showing off for the boys or drying out.... ??
Historically this date...
1941 – Pacific War: Emperor Hirohito of Japan gave the final approval to
initiate war against the United States.
1952 – The New York Daily
News reports the news of Christine Jorgenson,
the first notable case of sexual
reassignment surgery.
1960 – Paul McCartney and Pete Best are arrested then
deported from Hamburg, Germany, after
accusations of attempted arson.
2001 – Captain Bill Compton brings
Trans World
Airlines Flight 220, an MD-83, into St. Louis
International Airport bringing to an end 76 years of TWA operations
following TWA's purchase by American
Airlines.
And births this date include...
Mother of Larry Hagman. She died on Nov 3rd and he died on Nov 23rd.
(2012)
.... a Hollywood miracle..married to one woman, and for 24 years!
... played on Dallas with Hagman, and same birthday as his mother.
Dinner was leftovers. Zowie. A fire, TV, and a nap in my chair!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Saturday. Ciao.

Hi,
Yes, it is DEC! Already! Enjoyed the story about the mole and Bruiser! Love your write ups!
Stay dry....
Love, Miss Bonnie
Thanks Miss Bonnie!!! xoxo
Okay, I guess I am not a county girl, but the mole story was gross... I would worry the killer bruiser would be sick from eating that... maybe kibbles would be better for him......lol ;-) PRCANDO
Oh Patty......... silly. Bruiser was a feral cat for about 3½-4 years before he let me feed and pet him. He's used to eating stuff he catches. My Harley would catch birds when we lived in Temple City. Our other cat, Blazer, couldn't catch anything so occasionally Harley would catch a bird and give it to Blazer! It's just nature. We eat cows and chickens and lambs!!! Not much different.
I know, I was just kidding... He is a beautiful cat. I love his markings.

Happy Saturday, almost Christmas, Morning. Wow, this year flew by.
Great picture of your home. You guys did do lots of work. Harley looks so cute out on your drive. Really is a beautiful cat.
Way to go to "The Bruise". He was so proud to show off what he did. It was all cute until I saw his leftovers. LOL
You know, I forgot that Mary Martin was Larry Hagman's Mom. I really liked her. So sad to have "J.R." gone. He had quite the career.
Guess I had better get busy. House decorating day. Great day to do it, since it is cold and rainy.
Have a great day. Chat later. xo
Jeannie
Thanks my friend! xo Mary Martin was great! As for The Bruise's leftovers...LOL, he's really pretty neat. He ate the feet and tail and all the furry coat. He could have left a mess. (I agree... bleahhhhhhh!) xo
Is Bruiser for hire as a professional):- If he's just a sportscat, we have an assortment of wildlife he would love. Just please don't dine on the carpet.
I'm going to pretend I didn't read it is national pie day. That is choosing between being fat or patriotic.
cats are so fascinating . they decide to be wild or domestic.i think the organ they do not eat is the liver, bad stuff in that .what a guy .. he loves you, even after having his nuts removed !!! p.j.
Good Boy Bruiser! But don't mind me if I wait a few days for one of your kisses!!
I'm building an ark and searching for a dove to send out! Luv tammy
You made me laugh L!!!
@ PJ, yes, amazing how he loves me even after he's been emasculated! He's a funny boy! xo
@ Tammy..... good thing Jaco and Sidesy can swim!!!
I don't think The Bruise would kiss anyway. He's not a licky kind of cat.I kiss him, on the back of his neck!
Hi Sue - hope your Wellies are in good shape. Quite a wet season you are having already.
I am with Tammy, good boy Bruiser, but no kisses - bleech. He looks so proud though.
Thanks for the continued entertainment and interesting facts. You haven't really had that house for 15 years, WOW!!!
Gail
Yes, Gail, doesn't seem possible we've been here this long. I wonder if that makes me a "native Oregonian" yet??? LOL. Probably not, I'd have to remove some teeth first! Yes, well is fine, run-off into creeks is good, house sits high and dry. Yeah! xo
Your Bruiser story was cute and eeewww at the same time!
Tally
Thanks Tally, eeewwwwww backattacha... ox
Sue, I haven't had my computer (the monitor)today so just read your blog. I am with those who said EWWWWWWWW at the dead mole and leftovers. However, we have many down our hill so I am sure John would LOVE to have a Bruiser around!
I think it's precious that he is so loving to you that he brought you the "gift". That's no doubt the best way he can express his love for you.
Don't think I want to look at pie just now. LOL
XO Trisha
Oh T! Not even pie??? LOL
