Good 30º cloudy morning.
The last day of 2012. Thinking back, this seemed so far in the future it
wasn't funny! Now we're here and rapidly moving on... Sigh...
Here is a 'live' earthcam .... NY Times Square
Yesterday was excitement beyond belief. Put new ink in my printer and got
notes and cards done. Not even creative in the kitchen, as I had reruns. Watched
some football. Maggie and I took the trash to the road for pickup.... The sun
did come out!
The Bruise was out "hunting" and when he saw us in the golf cart he came
running. He jumped in the back and I thought at first he was ready for a ride,
but no. He jumped out...
I posted the following on my blog a year ago...
"At one
point the rain started coming down really hard and I saw the feral kitty run
like mad towards the barn and the opening under one stall to get out of the
rain. Then a little later the rain subsided and out came kitty .... on the
hunt..."
He's so
funny, now he sleeps on my bed with me and Harley!!!
My daily drivel friend Judy sent me some "Mandarin Martini Mix" so I tried
it. It calls for citron vodka, didn't have any, but it was good anyway! Thanks
Judy!
Historically this date...
1879 – Thomas Edison demonstrates
incandescent
lighting to the public for the first time, in Menlo Park, New
Jersey.
.... yeah, well that lasted a long time!
1999 – First President of Russia,
Boris Yeltsin, resigns
from office, leaving Prime Minister
Vladimir Putin as the
acting President and successor.
2004 – The official opening of Taipei 101, the tallest skyscraper at that time in
the world, standing at a height of 509 metres (1,670 ft).
And births this date include....
..... toooooo sad!
In 2012, we said goodbye to many iconic figures — the first man to walk on
the moon, Neil Armstrong and the first American woman in space, Sally Ride. We
lost writers such as Ray Bradbury, Maeve Binchy, Maurice Sendak, and Nora
Ephron. We said farewell to musicians and singers who left an indelible mark on
the soundtrack of our times — among them, Whitney Houston, Davy Jones, Donna
Summer, Etta James, Robin Gibb, Kitty Wells, Adam Yauch, and Ravi Shankar. We
lost great actors such as Ernest Borgnine, Larry Hagman, Michael Clarke Duncan,
Jack Klugman, and Sherman Hemsley, as well as TV personalities such as Andy
Griffith, Phyllis Diller, Dick Clark, and Don Cornelius.
For a complete list of those who are famous and died this year:

All I know. Happy New Year's Eve Day. I will party with some friends early
and be home to watch the ball drop in NY by Pacific time! Enjoy this last day of
2012 and I wish you all the blessings of good health and happiness for 2013. I
understand that those of you who lost loved ones this year, it won't be easy,
but I understand and send you love.

National Champagne Day
The Benedictine Monk Dom Perignon is reputed to have exclaimed, when
drinking champagne, "It's like drinking the stars!" Champagne's magic comes as
much from its bubbles as from its taste. This wine of romance and special
occasions is worthy of constant acquaintance and not just for use at weddings.
