Good 54º clear morning. We were over the 100º again yesterday. My AC worked
for a while but after a few hours it was putting out warm air. Calling the AC
guy this morning!!!
We had 12 or 6 drops of rain yesterday. Patty's son, Chuck, in No. Cal
(near Yreka) called to say they got several inches in a very short amount of
time. Looks from the radar the storms are all over No. Cal. still.
Went to Patty and Cliff's for dinner last night. Cliff has a new barbecue
with a rotisserie and he put on a HUGE beef sirloin roast. It was spectacular!
Patty made her famous Cowboy Beans. PJ made her famous potato salad. I brought
the fixin's for a green salad (chopped lettuce, olives, mushrooms, tomatoes,
celery, carrots, and ranch dressing with bacon) and corn on the cob. Something
new for everyone to try was I mixed some Lawry's Taco Seasoning with Best Foods
Mayonnaise to spread on the corn. Really good and everyone liked it!
And when I got home about 8:15 the sunset was spectacular~!
Patty's Cowboy Beans:
1 med onion, chopped 3-4 garlic cloves minced
½ pound bacon cut into 1" pieces
¾ c. brown sugar ¾ c. catsup
¼ c. molasses 1 can lima beans, drained
1 can kidney beans, drained
1 lg can pork 'n beans, do not drain
1 can garbanzo beans, drained
Brown bacon, add onions and garlic, cook until soft. Add sugar, catsup,
& molasses... stir to blend. Add beans except pork 'n beans. Cook on top of
stove, covered, for 1½ hours. Add pork 'n beans the last half hour so they don't
get mushy.
(I add a can of chopped green chilies)
Sooooooo good. Thanks Patty!
