Heat & Earthquakes ~ Mammograms ~ Rice Pudding

Good 56º morning. I think we hit 92º yesterday. Kristen had 111º in San Gabriel on Tuesday but they got a break yesterday and it was only 104º BUT they had a couple of earthquakes!! Even those seeming little ones (4.5) get your nerves standing straight up!

Good thing my AC guy will be here tomorrow as Saturday is predicted to be over 100º ... one site says 106º. UGH! AND I get my TV fixed today. YEAH!

LOL, my pal Erika in La Crescenta sent me this cartoon that was in the LA Times...... hilarious!

My Patriots had practice with the New Orleans Saints this week. Tom Brady and Drew Brees go back a long way and are mutually complimentary of each other. Love this picture, after practice a little visit... notice Tom's pup!

You have to watch this.... what we are in for....

The Olympics have been so spectacular. I have LOVED the track and field events.

Historically this date....
1936Summer Olympic Games: Games of the XI OlympiadJesse Owens wins his fourth gold medal at the games becoming the first American to win four medals in one Olympiad.
1944 – The United States Forest Service and the Wartime Advertising Council release posters featuring Smokey Bear for the first time.
1945 – World War II: Nagasaki is devastated when an atomic bomb, Fat Man, is dropped by the United States B-29 Bockscar. 39,000 people are killed outright.
1969 – Followers led by Charles Manson murder pregnant actress Sharon Tate (wife of Roman Polanski), coffee heiress Abigail Folger, Polish actor Wojciech Frykowski, men's hairstylist Jay Sebring and recent high-school graduate Steven Parent.
1974 – As a direct result of the Watergate scandal, Richard Nixon becomes the first President of the United States to resign from office. His Vice President, Gerald Ford, becomes president.
1988Wayne Gretzky is traded from the Edmonton Oilers to the Los Angeles Kings in one of the most controversial player transactions in hockey history, upsetting many Canadians.
1993 – The Liberal Democratic Party of Japan loses a 38-year hold on national leadership.
.........we can only hope the same thing happens here in November!!!!!!

And births this date include....
1944Sam Elliott, American actor
(his wife, in March 2011, Katherine Ross, got a restraining order against their daughter after she was allegedly repeatedly stabbed by her with a pair of scissors.)
