Yesterday was another day for .....
Deewayne Honneeee sent another good one..
"Party #1 gets what's coming to him!!!"
A guy calls his buddy and an accident occurs in front of him while he's
leaving a message on the answer machine. HILARIOUS~! Infectious laughing!
Thanks Pberger for the laughs!
... and speaking of LASD folks, today is Pete Ramirez's birthday. HAPPY
BIRTHDAY PETE~ !
Taken in Bar Harbor 4 years ago.... (or as those in "Bastan" call it, "Baaa
Habba")
Yesterday and the day before have been stressful. The AC is giving me fits.
It works fine for a few hours and then blows warm air! So last night I came
home from Jeannie and Bill's and it was blowing warm air again even setting the
temp higher in hopes it wouldn't! Got a call into John, my ac guy from Rite-Way
Heating can't get here until Friday, unless there is a cancellation. Groan....
Keeping the house closed and ceiling fans on.
Then, when I got home from Patty and Cliff's Sunday the TV was acting up.
Dang satellite box wouldn't come on. Geesh. I was so frustrated. After punching
enough buttons and taking the card out and back in it finally came on! Yeah.
Then last night again........ it wouldn't show a picture. A call to DirecTV and
the tech will be here Thursday! Good thing I have two other TV's.
To top everything off, yesterday I was doing laundry and I heard water
splashing on the floor. OH GAWD! The drain hose had come loose from the wall.
So, I had to move everything and clean the floor and noticed the dryer vent hose
was loose from the wall also. I was EXHAUSTED from moving the machines and
getting down on the prayer bones to fix everything! Thankfully all working now.
Last night dinner at Bill and Jeannie's to meet her brother Terry and his
wife Chris from down in Thousand Oaks, CA. The brought their pup, Libby. So
cute!!! and sweet!!
She and Chaka get along great. Terry and Chris are neat. Dan and Donna also
joined us.
We had an awesome dinner.... Bill smoked some ribs that fell off the bone
and melted in your mouth. Jeannie made an orange Jell-O/Cool Whip 'salad'. She
also made the BEST spaghetti salad. Share the recipe please, Jeannie!
And, if all that wasn't enough she made a hot dip/spread that was creamy and
filled with Parmesan cheese. OH SO GOOD!
I took an experimental salad, 'Asian Potato Salad' that was a hit.
I also made a "Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Cream" pie to take. (Recipe
tomorrow)
Asian Potato Salad:
1. Cook 3 pounds of red potatoes, cut into bite sized pieces, with salt
until fork tender, about 8-10 minutes at a medium boil. Put in colander and let
cool. Do not rinse.
(I used the red, white, and purple fingerling potatoes from Costco)
2. Dice 1 large red bell pepper, 4 scallions thinly sliced, and 1 8oz can
of sliced water chestnuts... cut into quarters.
3. Mix 1 cup mayonnaise, 1 T soy sauce, 1 T light brown sugar, 1 t ground
ginger.
4. Add all ingredients together when potatoes are cool, toss well to coat,
and refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.
Next time I'm going to add about 1 t. sesame oil also.

This morning I went to see the skin doctor. Never been before and wanted
him to check a few things. Really nice guy, Dr. Schultz in Grants Pass... he
said he loved 'former Californians' coming in because so many have sun damaged
skin. As for me, all OK! Yeah. Another 'perfect checkup'! Then to pick up my new
reading glasses. OMG, I can read! YIPPPEEEEEE. Gimme a book.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.

August 7th
National Lighthouse Day
The above is a picture I took of the lighthouse at
Peggy's Cove Nova Scotia in 2008. Peggy's Cove is such a beautiful
picturesque town.
On this day in 1789, the U.S. Congress enacted legislation allowing the
federal government control over the creation and maintenance of lighthouses.
This special day evolved out of this event, and in recent years, through efforts
to preserve lighthouses as a important historical symbol in America.
