Hard Rock National Anthem ~ Cicadas ~ Neko & Rio in Jail ~ OP's Day

Good 53º morning. Should stay in the 80ºs today ... Yeah!

Yesterday we hit 95º with 15% humidity. High think clouds were blowing over...

This sent to me by buddy, George Bachmeier (LASD ret) ..never thought I'd like a hard rock band's rendition of The Star Spangled Banner, but this group, Madison Rising, is AWESOME!!!! Loved this. The lead singer is a Navy vet.

From Fish and Wildlife yesterday I found out they do not track Bobcats. Only Cougars and Bears. She told me there are so many bobcats in the area there is even a season on them. They do not bother humans but would go after cats and little dogs. Mainly they hunt rabbits and the like. So far, none of the turkeys have been back, not even the toms! Sigh... I miss those guys. Guess Mr. Bobcat may move on if the turkeys have. Hope so.

This is fun... came from my friend Ron Weisberger (LASD ret)
How to easily separate egg yolks from the whites..... no muss no fuss...

Two special people are having birthdays today.. my friend all the way from Kindergarten through High School, including Brownies and Girl Scouts ... Kathy O'Brien Quintinar Forsythe. Hey Kathy, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
.... and Lynda Castro (ret LASD) ... been too long my friend! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!
Also, on this date in 2006 I had an 'AD' and suffered a 'GSW' to my left hand!

Then click on it for the 411.

Dave and PJ called yesterday. Dave had taken down my old flag pole and put up the new one for me last year. He now has the old one ready to put up at his house. He wanted to borrow my post hole digger. So, Maggie and I took a ride in the golf cart to deliver it. On the way we saw this cicada on the post by my gate where the code is entered. Dave said he was a skeleton. Dead. So I looked them up an sho'nuff they only come out of the ground every 13 years, mate, lay eggs, and die.

Got to Dave and PJ's house and PJ was lounging in the pool staying cool....

Their fish were hungry....

And Neko and Rio were in their new house! Dave built this in the trees where it is nice and cool. It was where their pool is now.

.... and Princess Rio....

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.

August 21st
National Senior Citizens Day
(These are gross OP!)

National Senior Citizens Day honors our elderly population. On this day, we are encouraged to recognize and show appreciation for the value and contribution of elderly people to home, family and society. In his Presidential Proclamation (August 19, 1988), President Ronald Reagan said "For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute. We can best demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure that our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older."
