Good 29º morning. Cloudy but sun will be out. Promised! Heard geese flying over. Strange sound. First time I heard them when we had just moved here, I was in bed sleeping and started dreaming I was on a crowded freeway in Los Angeles. It was the honking of the geese!!! LOL

Pennsylvania's iconic groundhog has "seen" his shadow, meaning we're in for a long winter. | February 2, 2012 | ...
Yesterday I had to drop off 'samples' the pulmonary doc asked me to have tested .. at Three Rivers Hospital Lab.
Now, this label just makes me feel weird. As for women/girls doing a 'cough up test' (YUCK!) it's not easy as we don't practice spitting like men/boys do! Doesn't it always run down your chin, ladies?
Then it was off to the Law Enforcement/Fire luncheon. Such a nice group of guys (yes, me being the only female!). Our LAPD moderator/commentator/founder Hector, bought me a bloody Mary. Thank you Hector! Nice we can cross those cop/deputy lines and be pals! I do recall the lack of "friendliness" when I was in a radio car in their area and would an LAPD officer wave back... Never! :o(
It was a small gathering .... probably 16-20 of us. Mostly LAPD. Most of the 'snow-birds' have left for the winter and warmer climes in their motorhomes .... most to So. Cal. But............... since Saturday is Joe Kirk's birthday... I brought him a 'Snickers cup cake' and he didn't even show up.
Oh Joe, this cupcake made me drool. And you weren't there! Guess I'll just have to eat it myself. The guys at our table volunteered!
Then to Jeannie and Bills for wine and chat. Always a good time.
Today is a special anniversary... my friends John and Trish Bowler are celebrating number 49! Happy Anniversary kids!
Historically this date.....
1848 – California Gold Rush: The first ship with Chinese immigrants arrives in San Francisco, California.

Heavenly Hash Day
(???)
February 2 is National Heavenly Hash Day. But which heavenly hash?
If someone offers you Heavenly Hash, you may want to clarify:
Is it a fruit salad bound with sour cream or whipped cream, or a chocolate confection or baked good filled with marshmallows and nuts?
http://whenthedinnerbellrings.blogspot.com/2010/11/heavenly-hash.html
http://dennysfoodandrecipes.blogspot.com/2010/09/cake-tuesday-super-sweet-heavenly-hash.html
The fruit salad version of Heavenly Hash is a traditional Southern dish. It began as a Christmas recipe with red maraschino cherries, green grapes, pecans and other ingredients folded into whipped cream.
Over generations the recipe evolved, with everyone inventing his or her own hash (the term, after all, indicates a jumble or muddle of ingredients).

Thank you Sue for the happy anniversary wishes and the pics you posted. That's nice. We did not realize it was Ground Hog Day when we picked our wedding date! :)
Oh Farrah's hair!! I tried for years to have that hair do but it never did look like hers! :(
I am curious about the gal with the horrid long fingernails. What happened on Feb. 10, 2009? Can you imagine trying to do ANYTHING with those?? YUK!
Have a good one!
XO Trisha
Her name is a link. Click on that and it explains what happened to her nails. xo Enjoy your special day.
Sue,
The aka for Heavenly Hash at family holiday/birthdays is known as Five Cup Salad. Usually doubled to 2 c. each ingredient and served in an old crystal bowl. Mandarin Oranges, Pineapple tidbits, Angel
flake coconut, mini-jet puffed marshmallows, Knudsen Hampshire Sour Cream. Mixed abd kept in fridge overnight. Mom had a devil of a time covering keeping little hands out of it :) XO E.
