Crockpot Turkey ~ Football Sunday !

Good 32º foggy morning. May rain...

We did get some sun yesterday, but it stayed about 48º. We had a nice sunset....

My pal Nancy came by with a bottle of wine (!) in the late afternoon and we sat and had a good visit. Always too long in between! (Nancy, see if you can send me that picture you took of Harley and I.)

Dinner was an experiment. I thawed some ground turkey and with olive oil browned it.. along with a big chopped onion, about 4 cloves of sliced garlic, and reconstituted dried mushrooms and a liberal amount of Simply Asia spices. Then I added Panko bread crumbs and a can of Rotel tomatoes, and some hoisin sauce. I cut up 3 big carrots. I put the turkey mixture in the crockpot on low for 4 hours and then topped it with the carrots.

After the 4 hours I shredded up the head of cabbage and put that on top of the carrots, drizzled on some sesame oil and some soy sauce and let it cook for another hour.....

It was very good. Light. Like stuffed cabbage rolls without the roll! GOOD!

(Thanks Deewayne-Honey Preimsberger for this .....)

This weather warning has been issued for our area:

"A travel advisory has been issued by the Federal Government due to inclement weather. They suggest anyone traveling in the current conditions should carry the following:

shovel, blanket or sleeping bag, extra clothing including hat and gloves, 24 hours worth of food, de-icer, rock salt, flashlight with spare batteries, road flares or reflective triangles, full spare gas can, first aid kit, and booster cables."

I looked like an idiot getting on the bus this morning.

Sue,
Don't you just love that Crockpot? I love mine and am always thinking about what I can make in it next.
I have never bought ground turkey but Becky bought two pkgs the other night and made some great spicy meatballs out of them. I was out for the evening but had some later. Daryl tells me I should buy ground turkey rather than so much beef. At a friends house (a couple of yrs ago) whose hubby is a devout vegetarian, she made stuffed cabbages for the two of us. I thought they were pretty bland. More spices needed for sure. I will buy some and experiment. Healthier too.

In my younger years I was a faithful watcher of Graham Kerr. Loved his shows! My State Farm agent had the same name. Funny! I still have recipe cards that Kerr sent me for some reason. I must have sent for them I guess.

Hugs and we will also be watching the feetball games! :):) Rooting for your Pats!!

Yes, T, I love it. What is good is that you can set it for 30 minutes or 10 hours! Not that flexibility with the old one. GO PATS!!! xo
