Good 43º not raining morning. No rain last night either. SUP weatherpeople???? Pressure is down to 28. Come on... I cleaned up leaves yesterday just so it could rain~! Yeah yeah yeah, all that rain rhetoric on the tv and NADA! Not even anything on the radar!
I sent out this recipe I received from Mr. Food yesterday morning to a few friends and decided I NEEDED to make it...
1 (16.3-ounce) package refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (8 biscuits)
1 (10.2-ounce) package refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (5 biscuits)
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
4 teaspoons milk
So, naturally I modified the recipe... and used 2 packages of 8 biscuits. I also used about 3 T of melted butter and 1 cup of chopped pecans...... Also, I had dried blueberries instead of raisins.
In a small bowl, combine granulated sugar, raisins, nuts, and cinnamon. Sprinkle mixture over biscuit pieces and toss until evenly coated. Place dough into prepared Bundt pan. (You will have to do this with your hands and pull the stuck pieces apart in the process)
Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until center is firm. Let cool 10 to 15 minutes, then invert Bundt pan over a plate to release cinnamon ring.
I didn't do the frosting.... it really didn't need it!
This is where I pulled off a piece. OH MY GOSH. SOOOOOO GOOD~!!!!!!
You may not have heard of this unless you are Southern, or like me had a Daddy from the South... it's "pot liquor"... or potlikker! It is the essence of Southern ... the juices in the pot from cooking vegetables and sometimes with a little ham hock thrown in, is the pot liquor. My favorite is the liquid after cooking artichokes in water with lemon, olive oil, garlic powder, and salt & pepper. Drink it warm or room temp. Some good pot liquor is what is left when cooking peas or green beans or collard greens with a little butter!
Historically this date.....
1956 – The United States Supreme Court declares Alabama laws requiring segregated buses illegal, thus ending the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
1982 – The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is dedicated in Washington, D.C. after a march to its site by thousands of Vietnam War veterans.
1985 – The volcano Nevado del Ruiz erupts and melts a glacier, causing a lahar (volcanic mudslide) that buries Armero, Colombia, killing approximately 23,000 people.
Holy cow!!!!
A special HAPPY 17th BIRTHDAY to Brenda Flores' son David. My how time flies!!!
Brenda and I worked at C.F. Braun together and became Sisterfriends. I asked her for a recent picture....but alas, no answer...so here's one from a year or so ago... David and Bren...
Lookin' good, David! And tall!!! Oh wait, your mom is a shortie!!! LOL HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
And births this date include....
(Played on Topper with his wife Ann Jefferies)
1941- Dirk Rambo, American actor (d. 1967)
.... interesting Dirk's birth was not listed and he was the twin brother of Dack
Dirk died from burns in an automobile accident and Dack died from AIDS.
..... Beeotch! Gag Gag Gag.... Ugleeeeeeee. And DISGUSTING!
So, I got this from Bill and Jeannie... poor sick puppy...
When you've got a dog and the poor thing is not feeling well, then leave it alone. Don't always think you can make it feel better by scratching its ears, patting or rubbing its tummy. I feel so sorry for an animal when I know it's not doing well, but hell, they're just like us when we're sick. We just want to lay down till it goes away. Check out the attached video and tell me you don't feel sorry for this puppy!!!!
All I know. Going to go get a piece of that yummy cinnamon/sugary biscuit! Happy Sunday. Ciao.

Till a fish with a grin,
pulled the fisherman in.
Now they're fishing the fissure for Fisher.

OK! I always pay attention to your comments & suggestions. You are always right! Last evening I had pizza at a favorite parlor and I had (cooked) anchovies put on the top. They were very good! Sue rules!:) PS I didn't need to watch that sick puppy video before breakfast!
Oh IKE!! I am so proud of you for the anchovy caper! You rock! xo
