Good 43º morning. More rain on the way....
Got the following from Onion Mike. Just in case you weren't aware of the dangers. A good warning prior to the holidays:
ALCOHOL AND ICE....please read!!!
When you drink vodka over ice, it can give you kidney failure.
When you drink rum over ice, it can give you liver failure.
When you drink whiskey over ice, it can give you heart
problems.
When you drink gin over ice, it can give you brain problems.
Apparently, ice is really bad for you.
Warn all your friends.
Yesterday I baked "Mother's Killer Biscuits" for the dinner one in our Law Enforcement group, Dennis Offerman (former Benicia, I think, ... near SF) is putting on for the Grants Pass/Josephine Co police, deputies, paramedics, and fire on Thanksgiving. These biscuits are really awesome. Been making them for over 30 years. A family holiday staple. You need 2 packages of Grands biscuits, 1 cube butter, a bundt pan. Arrange biscuits in a circle in the pan on their side. Melt butter in microwave (30 seconds) and pour over the biscuits. Bake at 350º for approx 30-37 minutes (depending on you oven and altitude... mine took 37) until dark golden brown on top. Put on rack to cool. After about 10 minutes turn out onto a plate.
You make these, and you will thank me!
I went outside and there were the turkeys .... wayyyyyyy down in the lower section. They saw me and made a bee-line this way....
So, since I had thrown out some grub for the birds and gray squirrels they decided it was for them!
They seem to be quite happy they are not on tomorrow's menu!
Interesting sunset yesterday.....
We got more rain, between 11am yesterday and this morning....
Maggs just lay on the Princess Bed and slept through most of it...
Today is a dear sweet friend's birthday, Gracie Elliott, married to Jack, both former LASD. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRACIE!!! Love you girl. I hope your day is SPECIAL!
Historically this date.....
I still have some old Life magazines. My friend and I used to make airplanes out of the covers and attach wooden matches to the wings and toss them off the roof at my Grandma's and watch them crash on the cement and burn! LOL.
1981 – Iran-Contra Affair: Ronald Reagan signs the top secret National Security Decision Directive 17 (NSDD-17), giving the Central Intelligence Agency the authority to recruit and support Contra rebels in Nicaragua.
And births this date include....
... another of those long lasting Hollyweird marriages.. Juliet Mills since 1980 (although she had 2 previous)
... very sad about her death at 22 and the man who murdered her got away with only 4 years in prison!
He has changed his name and is a 'chef' up here in the Pacific Northwest! Yikes!
Kristen's foot surgery went well. She is home with her foot up. Swollen, but on the mend.
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Hump Day.

OMG!!! I just bought 4 packs of these biscuits for tomorrow. I make them every year, but they always look so boring. I'm going to go buy me a bundt pan. And these are going to be part of my Thanksgiving meal. Oooooh can't wait they look so yummy and what a beautiful presentation!!! Love it!! Thanks for sharing Sisterfriend. Also, I was just thinking of Kristen this morning and wondering how her surgery went. So happy to hear that she is on the mends. Please say hello to her for me. Happy Thanksgiving my friend and blessings to you and the familia!! Also blessings to all your wonderful friends who are part of your life, you are one lucky lady. Sending you a big kiss!!! Smooches!!!
Brenda, my Sisterfriend, I love you too!!! Thanks!!! I hope your Thanksgiving is wonderful! I will raise my glass of wine to you. When you go to buy that bundt pan, get a heavy one. They work the best! xoxoxo
Thanks for the tip, will do. David is going on a date today to the mall and I have to be the taxi....sheeeeeesh!! I am getting jealous! Another female invading my space. ;-((((( So I have to go out for some last minute things, can't wait to buy my pan. I had one, but don't know what happened to it. ;-( Guess I should have used it more. Will let you know how my biscuits turned out. I still make your crab and cream cheese dip every year for Christmas Eve. It is always a big hit with my family. Love you!! ;-)
Oh Bren, how did we let our children get so big! xoxox
Good morning. Those are killer biscuits. I love them also. Your Mom must have been a good cook too. I am glad Kristen came thru her surgery OK. I hope it doesn't take long to heal.
We didn't go to the Eagles because I found out they were not having Tacos this week. I didn't want to go anyway.
I have my giblets cooking and will make my cornbread soon. Then I will make my Jello salad.
The silly turkeys are back. I didn't see them at all yesterday. I was afraid that the Wimer hillbillies had shot them all. As much as I complain about their poop, I would miss them.
Maggie looks very comfortable on her bed. So glad she seems better.

You are having a busy cooking day. I agree about the turkeys....make me laugh! I'll pass your thoughts onto Kristen. xoxox
