Yesterday stayed pretty overcast and gloomy all day....
I walked into the living room and there was a noise in the wood stove. A bird was inside.
(this is not my picture...found it on the internet...it must happen a lot!) Propped open the front door and the screen, got a big piece of newspaper in my hand, slowly opened the stove door, and out flew Mr. Birdie! He was nervous and finally did head to the door after I wildly waved my hands. This has happened, probably once a year, and I never have taken a picture. My only concern is the bird and getting him to freedom. They seem so joyous when they finally go through the open door. If they could talk I'm sure I would hear a
"YAAAAAAAAA HOOOOOOOO"!
So, walked out the back door and there was a deer eating apples. Scared the doe and she took off. I put out some corn for the birds and when I came back from taking trash to the road for pick up tomorrow, she was back. She didn't run, but kept an eye on Maggie and me.
Had to really laugh... my neighbor Frank waved me over when I was coming back from the trash run. He, very seriously, asked, "Do you yell at me like you do Gerard when I use my leaf blower?" "Whaaaaa?" Apparently on Thanksgiving morning when I was fed up with the neighbor up on the hill above me blowing leaves for hours on hours...
I was out on my front deck and yelled, "FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO STOP THAT IRRITATING NOISE?!!!!" He couldn't hear me, natch, because he was operating the blower, but it certainly relieved my irritation to yell about it! See, here's another reason I hated living in the city, aside from traffic and crime, was the danged gardeners who were constantly assaulting us with noise from lawnmowers and blowers! Now you have to understand that Frank and Cindy live down by my gate which is about 200 yards. Frank was standing on his back deck when I let loose with my frustration. LOL LOL LOL. OMG so funny. Frank said, "If you are going to yell at me, make sure my blower is off so I can hear you." Do I have fun and funny neighbors, or what! Ok, Frank, next time! :o)
I cried! Great video! Thanks Dave Aguilar! (Wilsonite....!)

As for Donna Rice she did a bit of modeling (No Excuses jeans, Life magazine in a bathing suit) and did a bit of acting (apparently in a play written by Czech president Vaclav Havel). Then she married a computer geek she met on the internet, becoming Donna Rice Hughes, and a born again Christian. Between 1994-1999 she was vice-president of Enough is Enough, an organization attempting to "make the internet safe for children". She is the author of Kids Online: Protecting Your Children in Cyberspace and now operates the projectkids.com website.

Cooking my turkey today. Will put "Alexander" in about 10. Will make decadent butter laden stuffing and after the bird is done will make thick dark luscious gravy! Will have that along with some of Jeannie's awesome cranberry relish! Mmmmm mmm mmm... Tomorrow is turkey sandwich day!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday. Ciao.

National French Toast Day
Another way to make your french toast breakfast is to dip the bread in the egg, etc, and then put it in the waffle iron!
2 Eggs
Dash cinnamon
Dash nutmeg
¼ t. Vanilla
¼ cup Milk
2 T Melted butter
4-6 Thick sliced bread
Preheat waffle iron and spray with non stick cooking spray.
Mix the eggs until frothy, add the rest of ingredients. Mix well. Dip bread into mixture and put in waffle iron until well browned.
I love them this way~

Hey Sue, have you tried making french toast using eggnog instead of plain eggs? So good!
No, but that sounds GOOD!!!!
San Clemente house had a skylight above the stairway landing (difficult to reach).
Bird flew down chimney. I opened fireplace doors to grab it, and it flew into the house...
headed up to the skylight with hopes of escaping. I opened sliding glass door
next to fireplace, but it wouldn't retreat from skylight. What to do? What to do?
Hmmm.. I grabbed a dark blue bed comforter and a ladder to climb on the roof
from the front deck. Covered the skylight completely.... bird attracted to the
light from open sliding door...and escaped. Everybody happy!!
Hope you had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, and will enjoy the week ahead.

Greg, GREAT bird rescue story!!!!!
Good Morning. I had to laugh about the neighbor blowing leaves. After I blow my leaves for an hour or so. I turn it off and yell down the hill. "THAT IS PAYBACK FOR YOUR BARKING DOGS AND YOUR MOTORCYCLES THAT RUN FOR HOURS!"
