LOL, that's why Voors was called "10-30 Dude" ... yet to this day!~ (Love ya, Steve!)
Good 44º morning. Cloudy. Not cloudy. Pressure up. Pressure down. 20% chance of rain today and tonight.
I had a note from my friend Joan, down in Palm Desert. Her daughter, Patty, and family live in New Jersey where the storm has hit so bad. They have a tree down, but it didn't hit anything serious. Amanda, her granddaughter, said trees are falling everywhere. The leaves hadn't dropped and the snow made them too heavy. One fell in front of the car in front of them driving home last night! Fortunately no injuries! The center of the storm is in NJ with 15" of snow and power is out to 2.3 million people. Patty said the power will probably stay off until Wednesday. UGH. Joan said Patty has a commercial size freezer in the basement and she may be tossing a lot of food! Sad. She does have a gas stove, so she could be busy cooking up a storm!
Yesterday ... oh, yesterday. I wasn't feeling the best. Several things were grating on my mind, the tummy wasn't happy, I HAD to clean out the fridge as it was a science project in there and the danged thing was making awful noises, and then I spilled pepper all over my kitchen! Grrrrrr.... I vented at Jeannie via email. She called me back and made me laugh. That made the rest of the day better! Good to have friends. I did get my refrigerator cleaned out! A task for me. I hate doing it and I cram it full. What a relief to be able to see the back of it on each shelf!
I laugh every time I think of what my nephew, Jim, called me... "the condiment queen". Today it's the freezer! AND, a good thing, the fridge has quit all those horrible noises. Well, maybe, it also might mean it's going to die! I have been looking at new ones on line from Sears. Just in case.
I finally watched the Extreme Home Makeover, aired Friday, a 2 hour segment filmed in Southern Oregon.... Jacksonville and Medford. They even took a jet boat ride and showed our Rogue River bridge! It was a wonderful show ... a family of 5 with 2 of their boys having autism. I cried almost from the beginning. Ty Pennington said some great things about our home here... he said, "Southern Oregon is one of the most beautiful places we've been" and "We've had the best time here!"
At noon there was still some of the controlled burn smoke..
After taking the trash to the road, Maggs and I stopped to view the changing sky over our house...
By 5:30pm it was getting interesting....
And the smoke continues....

October 30th.
National Candy Corn Day
and here is a fun site... if you want to make your own candy corn ..or just like all things Halloween:
OMG, will have to do this...
Candy Corn Cocktail...
For the infused vodka:
1/2 cup candy corn
1 1/2 cups vodka
For the cordials:
2 ounces orange liqueur
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 large egg white
Candy corn, for garnish
Infuse the vodka: Combine the candy corn and vodka in an airtight container; set aside for at least 3 hours, then strain.
Make the cordials: Add 4 ounces of the candy corn vodka, the orange liqueur, lemon juice and egg white to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds. Strain into 2 chilled martini glasses and garnish with candy corn.
... and a good thing I cleaned out the fridge yesterday, as tonight is Haunted Refrigerator Night!

Sue,
Lovely photos as usual.
Yea, I need to clean out frig too!
I know about Extreme Home Makeover. I watch it every Sunday night and when it's over and time for Desparate Housewives I can barely breathe from all the crying! That is such a wonderful show! What good people there are in this world! ABC, Sears, CVS just to name a few sponsors. The sad thing I have heard is that some of these families lose those homes because they can't pay the taxes. Sad.
Hugs, Trisha
Thank you T for ALWAYS leaving a comment. It is sooooo appreciated! xo
Well thanks anyway but Judy explicitly told me NO Candy Corn Cocktails for the trick or treaters!
Sometimes I just don’t understand that girl...
