Good overcast cloudy 47º morning.
We only hit 74º yesterday. OMG, it was soooooooooo nice! Windows open all day and a breeze. Heaven.
I looked on my blog from a year ago today and it was cool then too. So cool I said I couldn't get warm. I even contemplated a fire in the wood stove. August for heaven's sake!!! Yesterday I was cold, sneezing, and thought about wearing a sweater for a while!
Momma deer and her babe stopped in for a snack yesterday...
Baby wanted to chase the crow family...
Now if you like to see justice, don't screw with a fat bald guy!
Thanks Deeewayne Honeee for this!
And for lunch I made a sandwich with the leftover chicken, mixed up some wasabi/teriyaki mayonnaise and added some of Jeannie and Bill's tomato (awesomely good) and lettuce on a cheese bun...
and one sandwich just had tomato!
Sooooooooooooo good!

Maggie said she wants one of these shirts...
From the day before there was mail for someone else in my mailbox, so yesterday when Maggs and I went to take trash down
I set the card on top of my mailbox, rock on top of it,
and put up the red flag. (The mail carrier took it.)
Then we chatted with PJ for a few... and Neko....
Neko wanted to get in the golf cart. She'd probably go
for a ride! Will try that sometime.
Maggie sat in the cool grass and played 'princess'...
Dinner last night...
So, I got out my 37 year old rice cooker. Jerry
loved Japanese food, having been stationed at
Fuji McNair in the Marines, and taught me to
love it as well. We "had to have" a rice cooker
so we could make 'sticky rice'. We went to
Little Tokyo and bought one. Still works great!
(I learned to make sushi right away! And we
taught the kids to eat with chop sticks!)
I was so uninformed about other cuisines ...
In East LA, El Sereno (and all my Wilson High friends
will remember this) we had Manny's. The BEST Mexican
fast food. It was on Huntington Drive just west of
Eastern on the south side. We had Lombardy's Pizza at Huntington Drive east of Collis. Other than that we had
Peanuts Steakhouse .... on Huntington Drive, and
it seems to me it was at Portola. A signal there and
Portola didn't go through Huntington Dr. Wilsonites?

So............ back to dinner... Saw a recipe on line
for couscous and roasted vegetables. I like couscous
but like quinoa better. So made some quinoa in the rice cooker.... roasted veggies (bell pepper, banana peppers,
egg plant, green beans, tomato, and cabbage...
400º for 45 min after they are tossed with olive oil,
salt and pepper), mixed them all together and added
minced garlic and several handfuls of cooked
chopped bacon.

This was so good even Harley ate some of the quinoa!
Nutty cat.

No touch up on this photo. The sky was pink! Beautiful!
I called you Frank and Cindy to go out and look, but you
didn't answer!!
All I know. Nuff said. Yeah, Pay Day! Ciao.

Drivel up............. (and I'm PO'd because the site wasn't cooperating again and it's jumbled up!!!) It looked fine to me. Yes, it was indeed a beautiful pink sky you had yesterday! Love the picture of the princess in the grass :) I also note the Kirkland bacon bits. We get those too, much better than the pre-cooked strips I used to buy at the store.
Have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Erika
Sue,
I am sitting here shaking my head at that cop on the video. WHY in God's name would he take the cuffs off that inmate then turn his back on him and walk around to the other side of the desk when he was ALONE IN THE ROOM WITH HIM! Not real smart! The funny thing to me was once this poor our of shape fat cop got the kid under control then in runs so many other cops like ants coming on the scene! What's up with that? Where were they when he was fighting the guy? Then they all hovered over him for quite a while. Did it take that long to cuff the guy again? Too funny! I am sending this to John and Art.
You know I have never heard of quinoa. I had never heard of couscous either until you girls wrote about it. :) Looked interesting. Your sandwiches had me drooling!!
Hugs, Trisha
T, there is a whole lot of law enforcement in the USA as well as all over the world who don't get the level of training that our LASD gets in regards to people in custody.Turn your back? NEVER! xo
