Good 46º morning. We hit 82º yesterday about 2pm. Cooled off wonderfully well and sleeping was great! Heat supposed to rise over the next week. Today and tomorrow the high 80ºs and then the 90ºs. Not asking for cheese with our whine yet!
If you have read this before, then don't laugh this time!

With the artichokes finishing out and blooming and the lavender in full rage, the bees are all over. The bushes and the Catalpa tree are 'buzzing'. We have yellow and black bees. They are fun to watch. They nestle down in the artichoke flowers and spend the night there.
The deer, bucks and does, were all around yesterday. First a doe was laying in the shade under the trampoline. The bucks showed up later. Grazed a bit and then one by one hot-footed it over the fence to the pasture, all the while watched by a little doe with a spike boy...
Hard to get their picture with the fence in the way.
The LBB's were busy.... waiting constantly for mom to return with chow.
...and my hummers were hanging out...

All I know. Nuff said. 5 days to the end of July... and I haven't gotten out my birthday cards for the 1st of August yet. YIKES. Busy today and apologies all around for being late.

National Scotch Day
Ok, are we celebrating my heritage? or the distilled spirits from Scotland? Guess it could be all things Scottish, though it's most likely the latter. I like Scotch, Scotch Tape, Scottish Eggs, and Scotsmen ... especially Sean Connery
! It's that brogue. Mmmmm.... and kilts! And bagpipes! Yes. It's in my blood!
My family tartan... Dunbar
.. and the Maxwell tartan...
In regards to the distilled Scotch (which in any case many Scotsmen contain Scotch) here are a number of legal requirements in Britain that must be met in order for Scotch whisky to be called 'Scotch.' It must be made in Scotland, for starters. And don't ever spell it 'whiskey.' Here in America, we salute those tradition-bound Scottish distillers by recognizing National Scotch Day! Are you on the rocks or neat?

Finally something I can mention with confidence....Scotch! I don't drink anymore (well, almost), but when I did, Scotch was the name of the "game". Scotch and Soda was preferred, except when it was really good "stuff", then it was Scotch on the Rocks.
As for my roots.....Ross Clan out of Aberdeenshire. Family name is Duthie. Sadly our family name will soon come to an end. My 88 year old uncle is the last from his generation--all who were still in Scotland have long ago passed, and his sons as well as his only nephew in Scotland have had only daughters--no sons what-so-ever. The name Duthie will be disappearing from our family tree in the foreseeable future.
Take care Sue, and for sure don't work too hard.....luv, ron
Nice to know you are a fellow Scotch lover and a fellow Scotsman!
MY THUMB IS UP for todays blog!
J.
Thank you, BFF!
Not just thumbs up- bottles UP! Scotland is part of my nutt-heritage):-
Don't drink scotch here. Usually goes very well dilluted to the roses.
But Scotch eggs with Sean Connery and his wife- that would be memorable in a better way than me drinking scotch so early in the morning.
L, do we HAVE to have Sean's wife there too?????
Neat, with a drop or two of highland spring water.... And I prefer The Macallan, 12-year-old, 18-year-old cask strength, or 25-year old!

Sue,
Scotch and water tall with a twist of lemon used to be my drink of choice back in my young days. It seemed to last longer when out for the evening. We have many bottles of it here (have more vodka than Scotch tho) but never drink any of it.
Hey! I must admit and don't know why but I looked at my thumb too! LOL

Oh T! LOL. Thinking of John?
As always, great photos. The artichoke flowers look just like sea anemones. The little beaks in the house waiting for food look like a cartoon! So cute!

Great shot of the bee in the artichoke flower! Actually, they are all great shots - your place, deer jumping over the fence, hungry baby birds looking for their meal, hummingbird - all so fun to look at.
Have a great and relaxing evening.
Hugs, Erika
