Daddy's Day ~ Young Marines ~Tractors ~ Martinis

Good 50º sunny morning!

Happy Father's Day to all you Dads. I miss mine. He passed away in 1991.   Mr. Leslie Laney.
(Picture on ferry boat 1954 from Anacortes to Vancouver BC)
A Southerner who called me, "Schuga" (Sugar in "southern"). Daddy never got his boy,so my middle name is Leslie, and he taught me a lot of stuff a man would teach a son.... wood working, plumbing, gardening, auto mechanics stuff....  UGH.

(This was posted on my friend Joan Knoppel's FB page.....)

If red roses grow in Heaven Lord, pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my father's arms, and tell him they're from me.
Tell him that I love & miss him, and when he turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon his cheek, and hold him for awhile.
Because remembering him is easy, I do it everyday
But there's an ache that's deep within my heart, that will never go away.
And Happy Daddy's Day to my son, Brian, an awesome Dad ... Brian you are the best!
I hope you can enjoy your day with all the moving you are doing!

Remember the movie, The Owl and the Pussycat?
That was a fun film... and of course "What's New Pussycat" by

Well.... this is better.....
What a pair this pussy and owl are!
(Thanks Linda!!!)

Left here yesterday morning heading to Merlin for the Young Marines Flag Burning Ceremony after a scrumptious breakfast of an orange, hard-boiled egg, and a chocolate chip scone ...and  a cup of cinnamon spice coffee...
Lots of activity on the road...
a large group of bicyclists headed past me going north

....

a group of pretend motorcycles (not Harleys! 'Yamahammers' and the like...) and then along came a group of Harleys
Everyone out for a ride.

The ceremony was nice. The Young Marines were so cute!

My friend Dale was there....

Dee was working! So he brought Sami.....

Then I headed to Pottsville....

There were lots of nifty tractors ... and even a "Barney Oldfield" car.... First was the flag ceremony by the Boy Scouts, then the tractor parade....

Jon, this Deere was for sale for $2900....

"Granny" was driving her tractor!

...and surprise surprise ... my friend Loren from the Marine Corps League with his mini-tractor and bailer!

Jeannie and Bill showed up and we walked around looking at everything. There was table after table filled with what looked like junk these people took from their barns... rusted everything!

We left and headed to the Eagles for a glass of wine... Got this picture following them and Chaka with her nose out the window....

Good Morning BFF,

I was patient, well worth the wait. Your Blog was great! As usual, you got some great pics. Enjoy your Martini today. I'm sure Bill will have one too, he likes them the way you do. I put lots of olive juice in his, and he licks his lips so must be good.

Have a wonderful day. We sure had fun yesterday.

Hugs,

J and gang

Why are there no pots or potagers in Pottsville?
Sounds like a town Dr. Suess would name.

Eugene Debbs Potts, Oregon Democratic Senator....Potts is the founder of Historic Pottsville, a replica of a small Oregon town of the early 1900s. Pottsville is a 30-acre (120,000 m2) site north of Merlin, Oregon. Potts began developing Pottsville in 1959 to celebrate Oregon’s Centennial. Pottsville includes a pioneer store, post office, church, blacksmith shop, cabins, and other building. It has a large collection of Oregon political memorabilia. In addition, early twentieth century logging equipment and farm machines are on outdoor display at Pottsville. AND L, if you look closely at the picture of the entrance to Pottsville there is a portable "pot" to the left! LOL

Sue,
Loved the pic with you and your dad. I noted that you had a camera back then too. My dad also passed away in 1991.
Loved seeing all the tractors.
Congrats on the 10 lbs! What do you do other than the Nutri System?
Seems like there is always something fun going on up there and every where you go you meet up with someone you know!
Have a lovely day!

Thanks T, I guess taking pictures has always been a passion of mine!

Other than Nutri I am not doing anything. Even enjoying my wine in the evening! AND today it will be a martini!

Yes, always meeting up with someone here, but you realize the population in my neck of the woods is sparce. Even in So. Cal we were always running into someone we knew.... of course with 10,00 sworn on the department that was a possibility! With 36+ million populaton down there and the total population in Oregon as of 2010 is just over 3.8 million! BIG difference!
