Good 49º cloudy morning. Yesterday we had a pretty sunset...

I was amazed at the rainfall everyone was talking about that we had here while I was gone to Hawaii. My rain gauge was filled to over-flowing! PJ said Dave recorded thirteen inches!!!! Wow. My creek is filled again and running..

Today is 10-20, and in our department radio code it means "What is your location?".

For dinner I did an experiment. I normally cook rice in my rice cooker, but wanted to try this....

2 cups basmati white rice ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basmati ), 1 can fire roasted diced tomatoes, 1 can mild chopped green chiles, 3 cups chicken stock, some dried garlic, and dried red onion, and sea salt to taste.

It all went in the little crock pot on high for 2 hours.

I stirred it a couple of times. Then put on low for about another half hour.

Then I cooked an Omaha Steaks sirloin in the Air Fryer, coated both sided with olive oil and pepper, cooked at 400º for 11 minutes. PERFECT! (I like my steak rare so this is perfect for that! The rice was AWESOMELY good!

Night before last I put some carrots, coated with olive oil and some Omaha Steaks cheesy tater tots, and a sirloin in the Air Fryer. Served with a mixture of about half mayonnaise and half artichoke/spinach dip for the potatoes... YUMMMMMMMMM!!!!

National Angel Food Cake Day

Back From "Project" .....

Hello everyone, or should I say, ALOHA !! I am back. My "project" was 6 days at the Aulani  Disney Resort on Oahu with my son Brian, his wife Jen, and their Tucker and Sami, along with  Jen's mom Jean, and Jen's cousin Marie and her  boyfriend Brad.

So many activities. Such fun. Good food. More later with Smileboxes of my photos. I have 806 photos to go through. Still recovering from the flights home. We left Honolulu Airport on Monday night at 10:30pm (that would be 1:30am pacific time) ... 4 hour flight to San Francisco. Then a 3 hour wait and an hour flight to Medford. I got home at 11am pacific time Tuesday. So, with a couple short naps on the plane, I was awake for basically 36 hours. Slept good last night and didn't get up til 8:30am!!!

I picked up Dude and Bruiser from the kennel after I got home Tuesday and boy are they happy campers now!!!! YES. Mom is home and we can get back to normal activities!

Art Along The Rogue ~ 10-8 ~ Sgt Steve Owen ~ Thursday Football Scores ~ Packer's Fans ~ Sunday Football Schedule ~ Black Widows ~ Pierogi Day

Good 48º sunny morning.

Yesterday warmed to 85º and today should be the same or warmer.

It was nice yesterday for the Rogue River High School Homecoming Parade. I escaped being in town just minutes before the parade started, as it went from down in town out here to the high school. 


Today and tomorrow are also going to be nice for the "Art Along The Rogue"street painting and music festival in Grants Pass.

10-8 is radio code talk for "in service" ... or as it was said by many, "10-8 out the gate" !

LASD Sgt Steve Owen was calculatedly murdered by the suspect Trenton Trevon Lovell, parole with long criminal record!

Yesterday Mike came over and I had him set off some smoke bombs in the barn. When Brian had been over here recently he said there were a lot of black widow spiders in the barn.

The venom of this type of spider is 15 times as toxic as the venom of a prairie rattlesnake. Only the female is dangerous to humans. Males are harmless (LOL). The female, on occasion, will kill and eat the male after mating.

When I was in grammar school, Sierra Park, we were studying spiders and were supposed to catch some and bring them to school in a jar. I had forgotten to do that, so on the way to school, on the wall in front of the school, I found a couple spiders and put them in the jar.

This is how the school looks now, but back then the wall was just bare cement, not painted, so there were lots of holes for spiders.

As it turns out, my teacher panicked, as the spiders I caught were black widows!!!
