Sky ~ Miss Bonnie In Costa Rica ~ Dentist ~ Ground Squirrels ~ Chicken In Pastry ~ Bucks ~ Hot Dogs & Vanilla Ice Cream

Good 48º clear sunny morning.
Sky was interesting yesterday morning. Off to the NW it was blue sky and puffy clouds:

To the SW it was half and half:

And to the W it very dark:

3o minutes later it was all clear blue sky! We hit a high of 89º.
My pal Miss Bonnie (formerly Klinger) Seiberts and her hubby Bill were just on a trip to Costa Rica. She sent this picture of the Arenal Volcano. Last erupted in 1998. Still smokes sometimes...

Yesterday was my 6 month dental appointment at Bright Now in Grants Pass. Well when the gal called me to confirm the appointment, she neglected to tell me that the office had moved! The old building was empty.

I was confused. On the door it said the new address, which as it turns out is next door. But, it's on a one way street, and up the street not down, so I had to go out the driveway and go around the block.
THEN the gal at the desk said something about my appointment with "TS". HUH? Liz is my hygienist. Oh, she's on vacation. Ok, then, change my appointment for when she returns. She is the only reason I switched offices as she left the one in Rogue River. SHEEEESH. SO no teeth cleaning until the end of next month!

Next, Safeway for some groceries. Talked to a nice guy, thought he was wayyyy older than me, with a USN hat on. Turns out he's 3 years younger than me! LOL. Guys...... ditch the white beards!!!

The whole family of ground squirrels were out atop the stump in the upper pasture...

Dinner was an Omaha Steaks Chicken in Pastry...

Chunks of chicken breast, onions, celery, peas in a white cream sauce.  And some veggie cakes (from Costco) ....

Heat oven to 450º, do not thaw pastry. Brush with beaten egg. Bake 45 minutes. The last 10 minutes I baked the veggie cakes. I topped the cakes with a bit of Walden Farms Mayo..

PERFECT!!!

Two young bucks made their way down the pasture....

They ended up in the backyard where the water tubs are and the pear tree! They love the leaves off that tree and are happy when the pears start dropping! I didn't want to scare them, so didn't get any pictures of them in the back
Chair, wine, and Blue Bloods....
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Saturday. Ciao.

National Hot Dog Day

Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog! Today is National Hot Dog Day, On this date, we celebrate one of America's favorite summer sandwiches. It is only fitting that this dog gets its day.
Its summertime. Hot dogs are center stage on the grill, and at picnics all across America. They are at the ballpark. They are sold from carts on street corners in every city. It's not hard to find them. We consume hundreds of millions of hot dogs on the Fourth of July alone.
Enjoy National Hot Dog Day to the fullest. Have a couple of hot dogs for lunch or dinner. And, don't forget to cook a few on a stick at the evening campfire.
What's in a hot dog? Don't' ask, and we won't tell. Sometimes, its best if you don't know.
Happy National Hot Dog Day!
AND..... it's also
National Vanilla Ice Cream Day!

National Vanilla Ice Cream Day celebrates one of Americas favorite ice cream flavors.
Vanilla and chocolate ice cream vies for the taste buds ice cream lovers. Chocolate may win the popularity contest. But, vanilla is a close second. It is also more refreshing, and more versatile.
Its easy to celebrate Vanilla Ice Cream Day on a hot summer day like today. Enjoy it in a cone, a dish, a float, a shake, or in a cake. If you get it in a cone today, ask for extra scoops, and worry about the calories later. Just make sure to eat it quickly, before it melts.

If you go out for ice cream today, watch for discounts and special promotions on vanilla ice cream!

Cat Decal ~ Mexican Lasagna ~ Linda Kuehl ~ Jon Harting ~ Jelly Bean Shirts ~ Hammock Day

Good 50º cloudy morning. Looks like lots of rain up in Washington and around Victoria where Andy and Linda went for the car club event.

I saw on Amazon this cat decal. I have a rear window windshield wiper so I ordered one....
How funny is that!!!!

***********************************************
I shared this old recipe of mine with friend, Karen SugarBear
... so I thought, "why not share with everyone."... Here it is...

Mexican Lasagna
Interesting how the two flags are so much alike!

1 pound ground beef         1 lg can refried beans
2 t. ground oregano          2 t. ground cumin
1 t. garlic powder               12 uncooked lasagna
                                                  noodles
2 1/2 cups bottled salsa
2½ cups water                   2 cups sour cream
1 cup diced onions             2 cans sliced olives
2 cups grated cheese
Combine the uncooked ground beef and refried beans in large bowl. Add oregano, cumin, and garlic powder. Mix well. (hands are best!) Spray 13x9 baking dish with cooking spray. Place uncooked noodles on bottom of dish, 4 across (overlap a little) and break end off one and place sideways. Spread half the meat bean mixture over the noodles. Top with more noodles and the remaining meat mixture. Top with more noodles.
Combine salsa and water. Mix well. Pour over all. Cover with foil and bake at 350º for 1½ hours. Make sure to place pan on cookie sheet under dish, as it always overflows!
Combine sour cream, onions, and olives. Spoon mixture over top of casserole and top with grated cheese. Bake uncovered until cheese melts.

I like to dice 3 green onions and dice a tomato and sprinkle on top when done.

Dinner was reruns as I watched the GOP Convention. Unfortunately I fell asleep and missed some of it. Apparently pal Trish was interviewed on Fox Special Report and I missed that! Lydia said she recorded it and might be able to share. Fingers crossed!

Hammock Day

Summer is in full swing. It's time to slow down and to relax. During the Dog Days of summer (and all of the other summer days, too), there is no better place to slow down and relax, than on a hammock.
Hammock Day is appropriately celebrated right in the middle of the Dog Days of summer (July 3 though August 11th.

Hammock Day exists to enjoy summer as it should be enjoyed. People celebrate Hammock Day by spending as much time relaxing on it as possible. Getting out of your hammock to get a snack, or your favorite summer beverage is okay. But, it is not a day for work. Cutting the lawn is forbidden on this day.
