Good 50º hazy smokey morning. A "flow" coming south to north
is bringing the smoke back up here from the California fires.
Yesterday it was hotter than heck in Ca. Here by 3:30 it was 100º and today
will be the same or hotter.

Yesterday Gator shared this story of a biker with a frozen
carburetor.... thanks Gator. LOL!
People often complain about the police, but you rarely hear
about the positive things they do, such as this incident involving a biker and a
frozen carburetor.
Last January on a bitterly cold winter's day, a North Dakota State Trooper on patrol came upon a motorcyclist who was stalled by the roadside. The biker was swathed in heavy protective clothing and wearing a full-face helmet to protect the face from the cold weather.
“What’s the matter? asked the Trooper
"Carburetor's frozen," was the terse reply.
"Pee on it. That'll thaw it out."
"I can't," said the biker.
"OK, watch me closely and I'll show you." The Trooper unzipped and promptly warmed the carburetor as promised.
Moments later the bike started and the rider drove off, waving.
A few days later, the local State Troopers’ office received a note of thanks from the father of the motorcyclist.
It began: "On behalf of my daughter Jill...."

Yesterday I hooked up my new printer/copier/fax. Well, I tried to.
What a zoo. Much more technical than any other I have had. Then they didn't send
a computer cable with it! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....... Luckily Brian said
he had one.
Yesterday on FB my friend Karen Baertschiger had this "Who You Should Get A Drink With This Week?" so I
played and it came up with Trish! Shared it on her FB page....
I was really feeling lousy most of the afternoon, and only had a
few sips from my wine. Imagine! Dinner wasn't appealing so I fixed some
Progresso creamy chicken soup.
That helped the tummy. Later I started getting intestinal
cramps. Then I read an email from Patty. She is at the coast. She had intestinal
cramps all night Tuesday and didn't get any sleep. Odd that then I got them.
Must be something going around. I had them all night and only got a little
sleep. Somewhat better this morning. Thankfully!!!!
Tonight my Patriots play the Steelers!~ WOOOOOOT. Football season
has begun! Love you Tommy~! The naysayers have no credence!
Tommy's daughter, Vivian! How cute is that! I'll be wearin' my
jersey tonight too!

National TV Dinner Day
* The first variety was turkey, peas and sweet potatoes with
cornbread dressing.
The TV Dinner tray design was adapted from trays then used
for airline meals, with each food item in a separate compartment. Just remove
the tray from the box and place it in the oven: a convenient way to get dinner
on both the airline tray table and the kitchen table.
There are different versions of the origin of the name, TV
Dinner. Some say that the arrangement of the tray compartments was similar to
that of the front panels of 1950s television sets. Another explanation, which we
prefer, is that families would eat TV Dinners in front of the TV set (as ours
did).
TV Dinners were introduced as television sales were
skyrocketing. Before the War Production Board halted manufacture in April 1942,
a mere 8,000 television sets were made in the U.S. After the war ended, a
combination of war-related technological advances, the expansion of television
networks and the drop in prices due to mass production enabled the television
set to replace the radio as the source for daily family entertainment and
news.
Families sitting around the television eating TV dinners: To
quote Walter Cronkite, “And that’s the way it was.”
FOOD NOTE: The term “TV Dinner,” which became a generic
product reference (like Kleenex), was dropped by Swanson as times changed. The
category become known as “frozen meals” or “microwave meals.” And the oven and
aluminum trays were ditched for the microwave and microwaveable
plastic.
