Cards for Soldiers ~ Tzatziki Dip ~ Christmas Lights Up ~ Micol

Good 45º cloudy morning. So far with this storm we've gotten 1" of rain. No more predicted until Tuesday.

Yesterday morning 7am...

and... then 2pm.... raining hard!

If someone sends you an email to send Christmas cards to wounded soldiers in care of Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC it's false. That hospital closed in 2011. You can send cards through your local Red Cross. I am going to do some investigation as to where cards can be sent. Will get back to you on this.

Here is the recipe for the Greek Tzatziki Dip:
1 hothouse cucumber, cut ends off, scrape out seeds, and grate with box grater. Squeeze out most of the moisture.

Mix in 14 oz of Greek yogurt, 1/2 cup sour cream, 2 T. lemon juice, 1 T. white wine vinegar (I used honey balsamic), 1 T. minced fresh dill (I used dried), 1½ t. minced garlic, 2 t. Kosher salt and ½ t. fresh ground black pepper. Mix well. Serve room temp or cold. Store in sealed container for up to 1 week. Makes 3 cups. YUMMMMY!!!!

I got my Christmas lights up yesterday (in the rain!) .....................

Today is a birthday of a sweet friend, Micol Klamm.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY FUNNY GIRL!!!! xoxo

November 29th
National Square Dance Day

Here's a chance to get out and "Dosey Do" with your partner. It's Square Dance Day!
English, Irish, and Scottish settlers brought square dancing to the U.S. As it evolved in the U.S., a caller was added, to help dancers stay in step. It remains popular among southern and western rural areas, and with senior citizens.
Couples square dance in circles or square formations. It's lively and quick, and lots of fun.
Square Dancing is both fun, and great exercise. Medical sites and journals speaks to its health benefits for people of all ages.

RAIN! ~ Thanksgiving Dinner ~ Jean Jen Brian Tucker Sami Shad Lam Winnie Samantha ~ Football ~ Nut Bruiser

Good 47º raining like mad morning. As usual the predictions have changed again. No rain here yesterday but drizzles in Grants Pass.

Looks like we're in for it...

Wow, the sun came out here and it was a beautiful day. I tried watching the Macy's Day Parade (emphasis on PARADE) and all they showed was Broadway Show stuff! I wanted to see the parade! Turned it off.

Yesterday I left here early and went to Jean's to help with dinner... When I got there she had everything already done. So we chatted.
I made a pumpkin cheesecake, deviled eggs, and some Tzatziki Dip (Greek cucumber), and took Mom's Killer Rolls and baked them there. Jean made the turkey, stuffing, gravy, the relish trays, and pumpkin pie with homemade whipped cream. Jen brought a crockpot filled with mashed potatoes and some whipped sweet potatoes. Jen carved the turkey....

Jean making the gravy....

Joining us was Shad, investment counselor for Edward Jones. His office right by Brian's. I asked Shad where his name came from. He said from the biblical Shadrach.  (ShadrachMeshach, and Abednego are biblical characters recorded in the book of Daniel Chapters 1–3, known for their exclusive devotion to God. In particular, they are known for being saved by divine intervention from the Babylonian execution of being burned alive in a fiery furnace. They were three young Jews, of royal or noble birth from the Kingdom of Judah, who, along with Daniel, were inducted into Babylonafter Jerusalem was besieged by Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar in 605 BC)
I remember the song Meshach Shadrach Abednego. Watch here on youtube:
Also joining us were Brain and Jen's new neighbors, Lam and his beautiful wife Winnie and their tiny baby Samantha. Lam is interesting. He's a dentist and has lived all over. He lived in Basque Country of France, New England (Yeah... he's a Patriots fan!), Arcadia, San Francisco..... and even worked in East LA!

And of course Sami kept busy....

Tucker played the pinball machine and watched football..

It was a nice evening with family and friends. (Missed you Uncle Jimmy!)
Football yesterday... some surprises!

Night before I was watching TV when The Bruise decides to climb Everest! Nut!
Not the best picture quality, taken with my iPad.
