Good 56ยบ drizzly clouds laying on the ground morning. I first heard the
rain about 2:30am. It came down HARD. It kept up til about 6:30am and now
raining again. We got 1/2" so far. More on the way....

Yesterday I went down to take the trash to the road, give Dude
a good run, stopped at PJ and Daves. They gave me some salmon Dave had caught.
I gave Dave some green pickled tomatoes. They decorated their burn pile for
Halloween ~!
Later I watched some football... and had reruns for dinner...
turkey loaf, purple potato, roasted veggies, and an avocado (with Spicy Tabasco
Mayonnaise!)
Some good and some sad scores here... Imagine the Lambs beating the
Seachickens! Of course the Colts have Luck on their team! The Bears on a fishing
expedition didn't do so well. Ha ha Raiders! Ha ha Giants! And Peyton Manning is
top of the heap.
Peyton Manning broke the NFL's all-time touchdown record
just like he's played the quarterback position for 17 seasons, with cold-blooded
efficiency and a minimum of drama.
Manning entered the game needing three scores to break the record. He did
that by halftime, and wound up sitting out the entire fourth quarter in a 42-17 rout by the Broncos over San Francisco. Manning connected
with Demaryius Thomas for an 8-yard touchdown in the second quarter against the 49ers for his 509th career touchdown pass, passing
Brett Favre to set the all-time record. (Favre immediately congratulated Manning on Twitter.)

Brandied Fruit Salad Day
The simplest way is to take a bowl of fruit, fresh of course, cut into bite
sized pieces, sprinkle Brandy (or Cognac) over the fruit, mix, and put in the
refrigerator for an hour or so. Remix before serving.
BRANDY OR COGNAC
As the saying goes, all cognac is brandy, but not all brandy is
cognac.
Cognac is grape brandy, a distillate of wine. It is specifically produced
in the region surrounding the town of Cognac, in central France. It is double
distilled using pot stills and then aged for at least two years. It must be made
from a specific group of white grape varieties, as well.
Grape brandy can be made anywhere, from any grapes (brandy is also made
from fruit and pomace), does not require double distillation or long
aging.
Cognac is a better product. The double distilling and aging rounds out
the spirit and produces more mellow
flavors.
