Yesterday was another fun dentist visit. Another root canal. UGH. 

At least my dentist is good looking so that helps a lot~! He's good at what he does with a minimum of discomfort. Also the girls in his office are great! This is the doc and his wife from her FB page. He is Dr. Jeffery Dryden and Tina.

Dinner last night was a spaghetti casserole...

I put some oil and a little water in a pan. I broke off the ends of the asparagus where they gave and then cut the remaining into thirds. Put in the pan with the lid partially on and turned up the heat, so the water would steam and tenderize them and when that was evaporated the oil would give them a quick sauté. Drained. Broke about half the box of angel hair spaghetti into thirds and cooked that in salted boiling water. Drained. 

I mixed the marinara sauce with the drained canned chicken and the asparagus.

In a 9x9 pan I put the cooked spaghetti, topped with lots of mozzarella cheese. That was topped with the marinara mixture and more cheese. Bake in 350º until done (about 45 minutes)

HEAVEN!!!!!

Yesterday our Law Enforcement/Fire Luncheon at the golf club for a barbecue. It was a nice day and we sat outside on the porch. I had a barbecued hamburger with pasta salad and a chocolate/peanut butter cookie! OMGOOOD!

I had a nice conversation with a retired Wolf Creek Fire Chief and a retired Napa County Deputy, and a retired Concord PD officer.

I saw a recipe for egg muffins and decided to make some, using my ideas. Spray a muffin or cupcake pan with cooking spray. I mixed 8 eggs with a whisk and about 1/4 cup milk, added in some bacon crumbles, capers for the salt factor, corn I cut off the cob, and some chopped cherry tomatoes. I filled each muffin hole with the mixture. Bake at 375º for 15-20 minutes, until set and golden on top.   

Next time I will, even though I sprayed the pan liberally with cooking spray, use cupcake papers. Hard to clean!

Breakfast... I heated three of the muffins in the micro, when they came out I topped them with Parmesan cheese. Had a bowl of non fat plain Greek yogurt, drizzled with Blue Agave Nectar. OMGOOOD!!!!

Fire Prevention Day

Always on October 9th. Fire prevention week is during the week in which  October 9th falls.

According to legend, on October 8, 1871, Mrs. O'Leary was in her barn, milking her cow. The cow kicked over a lamp, which started the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The fire burned for over 27 hours. When it was over,  more than 300 people were killed, 100,000 people were left homeless, and over 17,000 structures were destroyed.

The Great Chicago fire sparked major efforts in fire prevention.  Forty years later, the Fire Marshall's Association of North America(FMANA) held the first Fire Prevention Day. In 1920 , President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Fire Prevention Week.

The Saturday during Fire Prevention Week is Fire Service Recognition Day.

Did You Know? Dalmatians became fire dogs because they were often kept around the horses at fire houses to guard them.

Remember "EDITH", which stand for "Exit Drills In The Home". Today is a good day to have a practice drill.

Here is my awesome grandson, Jack, playing his drums. This was a pre performance practice for the Gabriel Eagle Marching Regiment. He goes to Gabrielino High.

Jack is AMAZING and not only talented but very smart, charming, sweet, and handsome!

Dinner Monday:

Zucchini

Veal Patty

Purple Mashed Potatoes

I shredded the zucchini in my Cuisinart  and sauteéd it in some olive oil with seasonings. The veal patty comes from Omaha Steaks and are breaded. I fried two of them in olive oil. The potatoes were boiled and then mashed, skin and all, with the addition of Boursin cheese, salt and pepper. OMGOOOD!!!!!!

I did not get up in the middle of the night to see the lunar blood moon eclipse, but found this composite photo of it..

Emergency Nurses Day recognizes an important care giver. According to the Emergency Nurse's Association "Emergency Nurses Day salutes the dedication and commitment of emergency nursing professionals, who bring care, comfort, and compassion to patients......."  

Emergency room nurses see it all. And, often it "ain't good". Yet, they return to work, knowing they make a difference to sick, injured and sometimes dying people that enter the ER each and every day.

Emergency Nurse's Day is held during Emergency Nurses Week.
