The 'do' isn't really working for you!

Watched the 1987 movie Over The Top.. with Sly Stallone as a trucker and arm wrestler. He certainly was yummy looking back then~!

And it's been nearly 30 years since I had seen it. Interesting. I was working for Fabergé when the movie came out. Stallone was driving an old semi and on the trailer he was pulling was a picture of
.
Fabergé was one of the movie's sponsors.

Went to Medford yesterday and met up with Joanie McCoy for lunch at Olive Garden. Nancy Perry joined us.

Been quite a long time since we've chatted. She bought a house in Henderson NV and spends most of her time there. This was taken on my birthday in 2011... that's Joanie with the arrow...
back l-r: PJ, PatC, Jeannie, Joanie
front: JoAnn, Debbie, me & Maggie, Dee
Lunch was great. Joanie had this ginormous margarita...

Nancy had salad (she's soooo good!). Joanie and I had (off the "lighter Italian fare" menu) Ravioli di Portobello and minestrone soup (with LOTS of cheese!). OMGOOOOOOOD!!!!

Nice visit with Joanie. She sold her house up here in Gold Hill and now lives most of the year in Henderson NV. She and her friend Jim are staying at an RV park just over the border in Ca, called R Ranch in Hornbrook. They like it there and it has a pool as well as a shooting range! Cool. After lunch Nancy and I headed to Costco (natch they didn't have the dog dental chews Dude likes!) then to Trader Joe's, next door to PetCo for Dude's Shed Relief, Ace for cracked corn, and finally the pharmacy for my prescription. Whew. Nancy helped me carry in all my stuff and we both were TIRED! The heat didn't help!

Nice afternoon ladies! Thanks! Nancy has a daughter that lives in Henderson and Joanie invited us to come visit... so we just might take a road trip one of these days!

Speaking of trips, my grandchildren, Alex and Jack, are on an Alaskan cruise with their dad. My friends Bob and Micol are also on one. They might be on the same ship!!! Can't wait to hear all about it and see photos.

All I know. Happy Tuesday. Nuff said. Ciao.

Today, all day (as with most days) I will be thinking of my sis. She died in 2004, but today would have been her birthday. She would have been 80. I miss her. She was my pal!

This taken at Brian and Jen's wedding. She died 6 months later from leukemia.

Hysterical is the news that OJ Simpson is writing Kris Jenner love letters from prison. Can you imagine! Rumor has it they had an affair and Khloe might be his daughter. OMG. Get those Kardashians off the screen and out of the news!!!

Lunch yesterday was rice cakes, spread with something  new I found at Safeway... Hidden Valley Ranch Parmesan Basil Pesto Spread... topped with tomato slices, and then some tuna salad.

YUMMMMMM-O !!!

Friends Ann and Gabe Ramirez (both ret LASD) got a new pup... She's a Corgi ... and looks amazingly like Yoda!

Yesterday was filled with excitement. I vacuumed, mopped, washed sheets, washed clothes, watered, filled bird feeders (regular and hummer), threw out one more thing I don't need, ordered a new battery operated weed whacker, ordered the movie Mary Poppins (I just love the music and it's been YEARS since I saw it!).

Ok, since today is Macaroni Day here's a great easy yummy salad...

8 oz elbow macaroni
1/2 cup light mayonnaise
2 T. ketchup
1 T. sweet pickle relish
1/2 - 1 t. hot pepper sauce
1/4 t. ground black pepper
1/8 t. salt
1 cup grape tomatoes, halved
3 stalks celery, sliced (1 cup)
2 large carrots, peeled and grated (about 1 cup)
4 oz pepper jack cheese cut into 1/4" pieces
1/2 sweet green pepper, seeded and chopped
(if you want to add something more... thawed frozen peas or edamame)

Heat medium sized pot of lightly salted water to boiling. Add macaroni and cook for 7 minutes until desired tenderness. Drain and rinse with cool water.
In small bowl whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, pickle relish, hot sauce, pepper and salt.
Transfer drained pasta to serving bowl. Add tomatoes, celery, carrots, cheese, green pepper and slightly more than half the mayonnaise mixture. Stir gently to combine and coat all ingredients with dressing. Refrigerate until serving. Just prior to serving, stir in remaining dressing.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday. Ciao.

Macaroni Day

Grand Marnier Day (Yummmmmm.....) or as Jerry called it..."Grand Moaner" ! Nut!

Grand Marnier (French pronunciation: [ɡʁɑ̃ maʁnje]) Cordon Rouge is an orange-flavored cognacliqueur created in 1880 by Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle. It is made from a blend of Cognac brandy, distilled essence of bitter orange, and sugar. Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge is 40% alcohol (70 Proof in UK, 80 Proof in US). Aside from Cordon Rouge, the Grand Marnier line includes other liqueurs, most of which can be consumed "neat" as a cordial or a digestif, and can be used in mixed drinks and desserts. In France this kind of use is the most popular, especially with Crêpes Suzette and "crêpes au Grand Marnier". César Ritz reportedly came up with the name "Grand Marnier" for Marnier-Lapostolle, who in return helped him purchase and establish the Hotel Ritz Paris.
Bastille Day

Bastille Day commemorates modern France and French democracy. Bastille Day is a French holiday. But, you can celebrate it, too.
Bastille Day symbolizes the end of the constitutional monarchy, and the beginning of the democratic republic of France. To Frenchmen, Bastille Day is viewed as their liberation
