Weather ~ LA River ~ Deer & Turkeys ~ Patty & Cliff ~ PatT ~ All The Pats ~ Ice Cream Dogs ~ Artichoke Tomato Alfredo ~ Pound Cake

Good 47ยบ clouds sitting down right on top of us morning. Looks like the rain will lighten up for a day or so. Windy and rainy yesterday. Got another 1/4" in a short time. Turkeys were running from the pasture heading to the trees!

Boy howdy has So. Cal gotten a lot of rain. Here is the LA River....

All the critters were out yesterday... here are 6 of the 7 deer that hang out ...

The turkeys were trying to eat the food I put out for the geese...

This hen was sitting on top of the fence by my bathroom window, preening, and she kept looking at me....

Then...... this turkey was impressed with Mr. Tom and kept laying down (a sign she "wants it"....as when turkeys mate the hen lays down and the Tom stands on her back) but for some reason the Tom was ignoring the pass....

Then I figured out why..... she is a he! LOL. A gay Jake!!!
See the little feather sticking out on his chest.... it's called a beard...only the males have them.

I was having a dream the other night. JK Simmons, the actor who does the Farmer's Insurance commercials and was in The Closer, was in it. He is starring in a new show, Growing Up Fisher, as a blind attorney. Must have been on my mind... anyway... in this dream JK Simmons asks me to go out with him. I told him, "You realize of course my son is a State Farm Agent!" .... LOL.

Interesting show. I like it.

Today is one big celebration... Patty & Cliff are celebrating their 63rd wedding anniversary. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY KIDS!

And my friend Pat Tracy is celebrating her 83rd birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAT!

Ok, here's one of my favorite quick and easy recipes..
Artichoke Tomato Alfredo

1 can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
3 fresh garden tomatoes, chopped
1 small onion, diced
1-2 cloves of grated fresh garlic
2 cups fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 jar Bertolli Creamy Alfredo Sauce or Creamy Garlic Sauce
Regular fettuccini or spinach fettuccini (or any kind of pasta)

Heat all ingredients through, simmer on low for just a few minutes to keep vegetables firm and tasty.
Cook a batch of your pasta, drain, and top with the sauce.
You can also add broccoli, bacon, cut up roasted chicken from the market, fresh basil, parsley...... whatever floats your boat.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.

National Pound Cake Day

The name is practically the recipe: One pound each of four basic ingredients, including butter, eggs, flour, and sugar. Despite the four pounds of ingredients, the result after baking is a cake with a surprisingly light, subtle flavor. CDK has hundreds of pound cake recipes, many of which go beyond the basic four to add other sweet and delicious tastes to this American classic!

More Rain ~ Sami's Frozen Party/Birthday Breakfast ~ Oscar Stuff ~ National Anthem

Good 48ยบ raining morning. Rained hard in the night. We got 3/4" of that wet stuff so far. Looks like it might taper off a bit. Pressure going back up.

Boy howdy did the wind blow yesterday. Rained, hard at times too. All just for Sami and her birthday! LOL We (Brian, Jen, Tucker, Sami, Grandma Jean, and I) all went to Tap Rock for breakfast yesterday to celebrate with Sami. Here is the Smilebox I made... but first here is a picture of Sami 5 years ago... she was saying "sushi"!

Watched the Oscars last night. That Jennifer Lawrence gal who fell on the steps on her way to get her Oscar last year

tripped and fell on the red carpet this year.
(in red dress being helped by LAPD motor officer)
Hmmmm.... either a clutz or can't walk in heels or snorts/smokes something!

Then there was the 81 year old Kim Novak... OMG.
Here are some tweets re her look...
Luke:"Sorry, but Kim Novak's plastic surgeon should be sued for malpractice."
Bob:"And the winner for special effects, Kim Novak's plastic surgeon."
Billy:"You know what guys, Kim Novak is 81 and she didn't fall down twice, unlike some other people I know."
Matty:"Anybody else find it ironic that Kim Novak gave Frozen the Oscar?"

Not only is her face frozen she acted like she's had a stroke!

And next .... Goldie Hawn... another plastic surgeon rip off! Her lips just look weird!

There was a lot of other stuff I wasn't fond of... the songs from the movies and how they were presented... Ellen romping around in the audience and taking "selfies" and distributing pizza. And Matthew McConaughey for Dallas Buyers Club????? REALLY? Come on.............. There is more, but I'm done with "I'm wonderful I got an Oscar".

All I know. Gotta catch up today. Too much weekend partying... Nuff said. Ciao.

National Anthem Day

The Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States of America. It was written by Francis Scott Key. National Anthem Day celebrates  this song, and the rich history behind its creation. The song officially became our national anthem on March 3, 1931.

Celebrate today by proudly flying the flag. Also listen to and sing the Star-Spangled Banner.
