Flu ~ Pizza ~ Football ~ Peaches & Rubber Duckies

Good 42º foggy foggy morning. UGH.

For those of you who think you may have the "flu" please read this... a whole truckload of symptoms of the various varieties of the "flu".
We used to call it the "flu" if we got to throwing up and maybe diarrhea. But in this day and age it can mean 'fever chills body aches headache coughing'. Some get the intestinal part and do throw up. Here is one paragraph from the article.."Some differences: the flu virus is more likely to cause fever -- and a higher fever, at that. Flu sufferers have more severe symptoms overall and are more likely to face fatigue, body aches and a dry cough. Cold sufferers, by contrast, more commonly have a stuffed or runny nose and respiratory congestion. Some flu sufferers also have intestinal symptoms, such as vomiting or diarrhea."
If you get the fever, call your doctor!

For the football Saturday I made pizza.... I got refrigerated pizza dough. I had never used it before. This pizza was quite moist and heavy, so I think next time I will use a Boboli. (like that name anyway!) So, I started with thawed and drained chopped spinach, mushrooms, Parmesan cheese, Swiss cheese, pizza dough, and grated yellow/white cheese, fresh tomato, Alfredo sauce, leeks, and mushrooms...
Next was to sauté the mushrooms and leeks. Mix the spinach with the cheeses and tomatoes. Lay out the dough, spread on the Alfredo sauce and top with Provolone cheese, then the spinach mixture, and finally the mushrooms and leeks.
Bake until crust is browned...

Very very good, but as I said, crust too weak for this so it's Boboli next time!

Football yesterday was interesting... WOW, next Sunday is going to be hot!!!!

Along with watching football, I made chicken soup, washed clothes, and cleaned out a bunch of stuff and tossed it away! Yeah! Some things made me sad, but no need to keep things that are of no use. It's just if they belonged to someone you loved who is not her anymore, it's difficult. Tried to watch the Golden Globes, but sooooo boring I looked for something else. The news was more exciting!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday. Ciao.

Rain Snow Freeze ~ Football ~ LASD Mess ~ Richardson for Governor ~ Meatloaf

Good 38º foggy morning. Supposed to get in the mid 40º's and 40% possibility of rain. Stayin' home again! Our summit:

So far this storm has given us almost 1½"..... yes!!

Speaking of weather..... here's Niagara Falls.... frozen! Talk about "burrrrrrr" !!!

Wow, football yesterday was intense (could you hear me screaming?) ....(sorry Bri) We'll see how the 9ers and Broncos fare today and who will be in the Conference Championships next Sunday.....

An old friend, Paul Myron, is speaking out re the LA Co Sheriff debacle...
.... And here is an article with a possible 9 candidates mentioned to run for the Sheriff's job...

It amazes me that LAPD and LB cops would run. There would be a good lack of respect for someone not of the Department taking over. Also that Terri McDonald has only custody experience, NOT with LASD ...and no street knowledge. Why in the heqq would she be a choice! Jim Hellmold is a friend and a good guy, but with a young family that I would assume is his priority. Tanaka can't be trusted. I hope Bob Olmstead gets the nod and the win!! Good luck LA County!!!

Got this from a friend, Mike Cipolla....
"Just got off the phone with a friend who lives in North Dakota . She said that since early this morning the snow has been nearly waist high and is still falling. The temperature is 32 below zero and the north wind is increasing to near gale force. Wind chill is -59. Her husband has done nothing but look through the kitchen window and just stare.
She says that if it gets much worse, she may have to let the drunken bastard in."

Hey, if you live in Oregon you should see this video. My friend Dennis Richardson is running for Governor. Please give him your support. He's a decorated Viet Nam vet, a super good guy, knows his stuff. (that is his terrific wife Cathy in the blue)

PICTURE of the day.... (Kristen.. try this! What fun!)

OK, here's the meatloaf fixins..... First I took two sourdough English muffins and soaked them in milk (½ & ½ because I didn't have any milk!) Then mush them all up....
I had grated cheese, frozen thawed shredded zucchini, broccoli slaw, ground lean beef, and ground pork......
I drained the zucchini and pressed it with a paper towel. The bacon was chopped...
It all went into a bowl, rings off, and worked so it was well mixed with my hands...
Then it was put into one large loaf pan and one small pan (to give to Jeannie to try!)
Next was to mix the mayonnaise with the sweet chili sauce, then add in some Tabasco spicy steak sauce.
Smooth it on the top of both loaves...
Bake at 350º... small loaf 45 min and the large one 1½ hours.

Historically this date....

1932Hattie W. Caraway becomes the first woman elected to the United States Senate. So there!

Rain ~ Flu ~ Football Schedule ~ Hot Toddy

Good 44º rainy morning. YEAH Rain!!!!! It started in the night but I didn't hear it. Woke at 3:30 and was having a hard time going back to sleep when the rain started coming down in buckets at 5am. Went back to sleep like a baby!!! Love that sound. Slept til 8!!! So far since yesterday we've gotten over 1/2 ". Still no water in my creeks, but working on it.

I had my meatloaf sandwich yesterday. OMGOOD!!! I put it on a sourdough English muffin. Perfect. Chicken soup for dinner. I like the Progresso Lite soups... had Chicken Pot Pie and added in chopped celery. OMGOOD!!!! A whole can of their lite soups is only 200 calories.

Everyone has the flu bug!!! PJ said Debbie and Tom have it and PatC's family too. Our little Sami has been with a temperature for a couple days. Jeannie with a temp yesterday afternoon also. Everyone is coughing everywhere you go. Take Airborne before going anywhere!!! Keeping my chewable Vitamin C close too.

I cleaned out a big box of old computer stuff yesterday. YEAH! A good feeling to get rid of old instructions and warranties for stuff I no longer have also. This will make my children happy!!!

Here's the football schedule for today and tomorrow....

As for my computer, I have ordered the Windows 7 start up disc from Amazon. It will be here Tuesday, at which time I will take it to Turk so he can re-do my computer. Groan...... In order for me to get photos on my blog today I used another internet connection, Chrome, other than AOL and it seemed to work ok. So far, so good. Fingers crossed.

I remember it. Fascinating to me. Christmas tree out in the backyard covered in snow. Neighbor boy, Matthew, threw a snowball at me. I cried! He was several years older, I was just four years old.
