Good 33º foggy morning. Supposed to be in the 70º's for the next few days. Was absolutely beautiful yesterday!

 

My Bruiser headed off towards the trees yesterday afternoon when I left for the market. He didn't come home all night. Worry worry worry. He hasn't done this for a few months and it breaks my heart.   :o(    I HATE it when he takes off!!! Then someone up there was listening to me and he came home at 6:45 this morning. WHEW....... My baby boy is home! YES!

Saturday when the stump grinding guys were here, PJ came by with a pumpkin and some mums for babysitting her cats while she and Dave were at the coast with Patty and Cliff. Beautiful! Thank you PJ!!

She also gave me a darling dish towel...

....and she brought over some "gifts" that Tom and Debbie had bought for me when they were in Alaska recently...

 

The one on the left is swizzle sticks with petrified moose poop on the top... It says on the package "Do not eat and keep out of reach of children". Hmmm.... The other is "Alaska Wilderness Perfume"... 'aromatic perfume capsules'... moose poop! LOL. Thanks, I think, Debbie!!!!

Yesterday I went shopping and found some interesting stuff... Oh boy, Blueberry Muffin and Jelly Donut flavored coffees! Roasted Garlic Alfredo Sauce. AND... Roasted Honey Nut peanut butter. OMG it's soooooooooooo good!!!

 

After I finished my shopping I went over to Jennifer's house. Her friend Erika was there and Mike showed up ... the two of them dug up a couple of Quaking Aspen trees for Erika to take home. Jennifer has a big riverfront property and LOTS of trees! We watched some of the 9er's game. Tried to help her with her computer, but she has an Apple and it's Greek to me! So we had some wine and chatted. She gave me some of her crockpot soup (chicken beans and other stuff) home and I had it for dinner. YUMMMMMM!!!!! Awesome Jennie! Thanks!!! Sorry, no pictures, but Heaven Moody and Keeper were their beautiful and charming selves. Next time!

The Lambs did well! Yes, the Raiders lost! Sorry Tootie, your Jets lost. :o(    Billy I see your Sea Chickens did good too, but your Bills didn't. Jeannie's 9ers did great! AND my Patriots slid by! Whoa.  Tonight Brian's Colts and Cliff's Chargers play.

Yesterday afternoon Dude and I took a ride/run (I ride in the golf cart, he runs) to the mailbox... just before it rained. Surprising, as the weather persons said, "30% chance". LOL We got 1/4"!

About 4pm Tim and Rick White of White's Tree Service (541-973-5155) came by and ground up the stump in the front yard. YEAH! 

The electrical wire (disconnected) is still there from the light on the tree. Jake said he'd take care of it.

 

Last night dinner was my favorite scallop dinner, with a twist.

Olive oil

1 T. capers, drained

sea scallops

pickled asparagus spears

mushrooms

1/2 cup lemon juice

3-4 pats butter

shallots (dried or fresh)

The original recipe calls for canned in water quartered artichoke hearts... I didn't have any so used the pickled asparagus spears and mushrooms instead. If using dried shallots, reconstitute in a little water.  Heat pan and sauté artichoke hearts or asparagus and/or the mushrooms. Toss and heat through. Add in capers and shallots. Set aside. Wipe out pan.

In another pan I sauteéd some cut up baby squash with Asian seasoning.

Dry and season the scallops with salt and pepper, add olive oil to cleaned pan, heat very hot and sear scallops in single layer .. 2 minutes each side.

 

 

Add lemon juice and butter. Add  the vegetables and capers to the pan and heat through.

 

When plating spoon the butter/lemon sauce over the scallops.

AWESOMLY GOOD! Was surprised how good the pickled asparagus was. With that and the capers, no need for salt.

International Skeptics Day

(it says... "Calmly, patiently listening to what others have to say, and recognize when they're feeding you a line of shit.") 

 

International Skeptics Day is the perfect day for you...the "doubting Thomas". Perhaps the earth isn't really round!? Maybe, the sky isn't truly blue!? Does he(she) really love me!? ........These are the words and questions of the classical skeptic.  By definition, a skeptic is a person who questions or doubts facts and theories. He, or she, is a mis-believer. A skeptic does not accept the "Given". If you are inclined to doubt things that you see or hear, then International Skeptics Day is for you. If you practice a little, I'm sure we can make a good skeptic out of you. Go ahead, give it a try. And, what better day to practice skepticism, than  International Skeptics Day?
