Mowing ~ Neko ~ Cherry Cheesecake

Good 33º frost on the barn roof morning. Clear sunny sky.

Yesterday .... I went out to get the weed sprayer hooked up to my riding lawnmower. Lawnmower has flat tire. Then I had to work on the big air compressor in the carport so I could fill the small hand carry air compressor and fill the tire.

What a chore! Got it working. Filled the tire. Hooked up the sprayer and it had two low tires. Filled them. Filled sprayer with water (25 gal) and it wouldn't work. DANG! Might be the fuse, but I can't open the place the fuse goes.

Took sprayer down to PJ and Dave's. He was working so left it so he can take a look at it. Came home and mowed for a couple of hours. Warm, 72º, so it really was nice. Got a lot done. Jason came up and weed-eated for 3 hours. He's coming back today.

Jason got the grass on the left of the road and I mowed on the right... you can see where I stopped...

I did earn my Fireman's Badge yesterday!!! I stopped back by PJ's to pick up the cat carrier (Bruise goes to see the vet today about something in one of his ears) and Neko, one of her cats, was stuck in a tree with his harness and the tether line was wrapped around a branch.
I did the 'cat rescue' thing!
Unhooked his tether and loosened it so she could climb down to where I could reach her and got her down .... all the while PJ was in the garage getting a ladder.

Hollyweirdo ~ Madison Rising ~ Flores ~ Earth Day ~ Dude Rides ~ Rogue River Gothic

Good 38º verrrry foggy morning. Whoppen? Hot and clear yesterday til the afternoon when clouds moved in. Fuey. No rain predicted though.

Reese Witherspoon arrested! Hmmmm..... Dumb girl.

I had heard this before and probably put it on my blog before, but again it is AWESOM! Madison Rising sings The Star Spangled Banner. You have to watch/listen. Will make that good old American pride fill your heart! Thanks Larry '5150' Curry (LASD ret) for sending this!!

Happy Anniversary to Debbie and Tom Flores. 35 big years! Wow, guys. That's great. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Today is "Earth Day" .... the continuation of a 1970 environmental movement to press on the climate change ideas and how to live more 'green'. Earth Day 1970 capitalized on the emerging consciousness, channeling the energy of the anti-war protest movement and putting environmental concerns front and center. And then Al Gore won a Nobel Prize for his efforts to impart greater knowledge about man-made climate change and how to live 'green'... yeah, like he does in his zillion dollar mansions that are heated and cooled with lack of concern by him! Gore's "inconvenient truth" is that — there's no tactful way to say this — we gas-guzzling, SUV-flaunting, comfort-addicted humans, wallowing in our own self-indulgences, have screwed up the planet. We've hauled prodigious quantities of fossil fuels out of the ground where they belong, combusted them to release carbon dioxide (CO2) into the sky where it shouldn't be, and now we're going to burn for our sins.
Stupidity and hypocrisy – as well as vanity are Mr. Gore's traits. Do as I say, not as I do! ...............Ok, off the box!

Historically this date...
1945 – World War II: Führerbunker: After learning that Soviet forces have taken Eberswalde without a fight, Adolf Hitler admits defeat in his underground bunker and states that suicide is his only recourse.

.......too bad he wasn't caught and put in an oven to die! JUSTICE.

2000 – In a pre-dawn raid, federal agents seize six-year-old Elián González from his relatives' home in Miami, Florida.

Commentators have suggested that the Elián González affair may have been a factor in voters' decisions in the 2000 United States presidential election, which could have affected the close outcome in Florida. Al Gore's handling of the matter may have been as great a factor as anger by the predominantly Republican Cuban community over the boy's return to Cuba. Gore initially supported Republican legislation to give the boy and his father permanent residence status, but later supported the Administration position. He was attacked by both for pandering and being inconsistent.

2008 – The United States Air Force retires the remaining F-117 Nighthawk aircraft in service.

Yesterday we did a 'test' ride with Dude on the golf cart. He did pretty good until we got down to the trash can and I took it up to the road.... he pulled out of his collar and followed me! YIKES! Cars are going 45-55 mph on the road and thank GOD he listened to me and stopped! So.... next thing is that since he has this need to go wherever I go, he's getting a harness to keep him from doing that!

We stopped at Dave and PJ's to see what they were up to.. They had a burn pile and with their pitchfork they were cookin' hot dogs!

LOL....

Actually they are a couple.... and the American Gothic painting is of a farmer and his 'spinster' daughter!

Sun's coming out. Jason up here today to do some weed-eating for me and vine and berry bush trimming. I worked on it yesterday but my back can only take an hour or so ..... I know..... wuss!

Happy Monday. Nuff said. Ciao.

Dude! ~ Tucker's Baseball Game ~ Trottole w/ Veggie Meatballs in Alfredo/Pesto Sauce

Good 35º clear sunny morning. Yesterday we topped at 73º! WOW. Nice.

Old comedians liked to tell clean jokes. Here is an oldie but a goodie:

I just got back from a pleasure trip. I took my mother-in-law to the airport.

1952Secretary's Day (now Administrative Professionals' Day) is first celebrated.

And births this date include....

1915 – Anthony Quinn, Mexican-American actor (d. 2001)

1926 – HM Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

1935Charles Grodin, American actor

1951Tony Danza, American actor

Yesterday I headed to Tucker's baseball game about 1:30. When I returned home about 4:30 I found out that Dude was on his way down our road looking for me about 10 minutes after I left. Thank God Frank and Cindy were outside and saw him. Frank called him but he beat it back this way. This happened twice. Then Frank and his grandson Evan got on their quad and came up here. Dude was near the barn and headed to the gate that I though I had fixed with a bungee cord. Not sure if that's how he got out, but pretty sure. Will work on that gate today. Frank let him in, only after Dude licked Evan's face from chin to hair in one fell swoop! Dude, Maggie, and Bruiser were waiting for me when I returned. So grateful to Frank, or who knows what would have happened to Dude if he had gotten to the road!

Tucker's team, Texas Rangers, played the Grants Pass Scrappers. Sadly we lost 11-7 but it was well fought and Tucker was awesome! Here 'coach' is giving them a pep talk. It was a good one!

Sami showing off her "tattoos" Bobo brought her....

..........and Mom and Brian.......

Tucker had hit the ball and made it to 1st base, then to second, then to third, and was stealing home....

SLIDE!!!!!!! Yes. SAFE!

Doing his thing.... catching....

....and in the outfield, taking a break while a new pitcher warms up, with Dad!

I came home and got the news of Dude's escape, chatted with friends, and made dinner.... while the Bruiser kept an eye on the dogs from his perch.... and Dude kept and eye on me!

Dinner was a new pasta, called Trottole (When you pronounce this use your best Italian accent, hold your right hand up, fingers together and say "Traa-toe-lay" ! Right Mike?)
( Click here: Pasta find — trottole — and what’s your favorite pasta shape? | Eats Blog ) Really really good. Can be found at Target. First I sauteéd some veggie meatballs (Costco) in olive oil, along with grated garlic, canned drained artichoke heart quarters, sweet peppers, and tomatoes.

Meanwhile cooking the pasta....

To the pan add the drained pasta, Alfredo sauce, pesto, stir well, add grated cheese (I used yellow/white but Parmesan would be great). OMGOOOOOD!!!

All I know. Sunny Sunday. Enjoy your day, unless of course you are clearing your property of trees and branches and having a ginormous humongous burn pile and working your little tushie off again.... like you did yesterday! Ciao.

Crazy World ~ Clouds/Turkeys/Geese ~ Dude! ~ RIP Boston Victims

Good 34º clear morning. Ice on the barn roof. Should hit 70º today! YEAH. Tucker has a baseball game at 2. Nice if it's warm.

Sure has been some crazy stuff going on .... here and across the country. Boston has been totally bizarre. Thank God the suspect was caught! Explosion in Texas. BUT, in Rogue River the police were chasing a bull down the street! I haven't heard the outcome of that yet. And Thursday Brian went to the bank (inside the Albertson's near his office)
and the doors were being locked. He was puzzled but found out the bank had just been robbed! Lordy swan! Then Kristen said last night there was a bomb scare at Cal State LA
AND one near Jack's school in San Gabriel. His school was on lock-down until it was resolved. Geeeesh.

I love seeing the cloud formations here. Never had such pretty ones in So. Cal. I think the smog layer always obliterated most pretty sky happenings! Anyway, here are two photos taken an hour apart yesterday afternoon...

....and while I was taking pictures the turkeys were strutting...

And all the geese were congregated up in the pasture....

Dude went to the groomer yesterday. He's not leash trained, so when I took him out of the back of the truck he just about drug me across the parking lot~! He was nervous and didn't want to be put in the cage. But he was calmed down. Dave stopped by to see him and Dude was happy. Dave insisted he pay for the bath and nail trim. Silly. When I picked him up he was smelling good and had a green bandana around his neck!!!

On the way home I introduced him to the other "Daves" I know.. Dave at Ace and PJ and Dave. Came home and he bolted for the porch and came in and napped. Happy clean puppy!

RIP Martin Richard, Lu Lingzi, Krystal Cambell, and Sean Collier.

And God Speed in recovery to all those injured. I sat and watched the capture of the suspect last night. Made me so sad to see what these two young men did and how so many suffer from it.

Here is an image caught of little Martin and the suspect dropping the bomb near him.

Cooking wasn't on my mind so this was dinner.... It's really good. Less calories. I added some chopped Roma tomatoe.
