Veteran's Ad ~ Dave's Killer Bread ~ Beef Tips in Gravy

Good 36º morning. Ice on the barn roof!

10-10 in radio code speak.... "Out of service subject to call"

Put this on my FB page yesterday.........

That was sad, as he was so likeable!

1946 – Ben Vereen, American actor

Monday I went to the market and was picking up items to make meat loaf after Jeannie and I talked about hers, I was hungry for some...not the standard, but something different. I picked up this loaf of bread called "Dave's Killer Bread" ... omg it sounded fantastic. There are several kinds, all organic. I got the Killer Light ... Here are the ingredients:
Organic whole wheat flour, organic cracked whole wheat, water, organic dried cane syrup (sugar), grain mix (organic whole ground flaxseeds, organic whole flaxseeds, organic sunflower seeds, organic oats, organic pumpkin seeds, organic millet, organic rye, organic brown rice, organic triticale, organic barley, organic unhulled sesame seeds, organic black sesame seeds, organic amaranth flakes, organic buckwheat, organic rolled spelt, organic blue cornmeal, organic yellow corn, organic KAMUT® khorasan wheat, organic poppy seeds, organic quinoa, organic sorghum), organic wheat gluten, organic oat fiber, organic molasses, sea salt, yeast, organic cultured wheat.

There are two kinds of light breads...one with 75 cal and one with 65 cal...

So, then I read the back of the loaf and it said that Dave Dahl is a former drug dealer who spent more than fifteen years of his life in prison. He has been arrested for drugs, trafficking, assault, armed robbery… you name it. In one of the greatest comeback stories of all time though, he turned his life around. Check the site www.daveskillerbread.com . You can put your zip code in the "find a store" and try it yourself. It is AWESOME! Dave quit drugs and is running a phenomenal business with the help of his family. See his story. I'm impressed.

Dinner last night was beef tips in gravy with red potato and artichoke hearts. Served with quinoa and roasted veggies.

In a hot pan with olive oil, cook the beef. Add minced garlic. Deglaze the pan with white wine, adding in some beef base for big flavor. Add in some cream cheese, melt it in and add cream of mushroom soup. Then add the pre-cooked red potato and the drained artichoke hearts. The quinoa and roasted veggies had been cooked last month and frozen.

All I know. Happy Hump Day. New tires for my ride day. Ciao.

Sami's Tooth ~ Crazy Cats ~ Alex Karras ~ No Bowing

Good 40º morning. Yesterday was fabulous with temps perfect. No AC no heat. Ahhhhh.......

10-9 in radio car talk means "Repeat". I find myself saying that to someone when I don't hear or understand what they said, and I get that "duh?" blank look. Hmmmm ????

Yesterday Jen and Sami came by to pick up Atlas. Sami had told on me over the phone on Sunday that she had lost her first tooth... while at Disneyland.

Even if you don't have a pet cat you will laugh at this ....
(This guy sure looks like my Harley!)

On a very sad note I just read that Alex Karras (Detroit Lions defensive lineman and television personality and played 'Mongo' in Blazing Saddles has been given a couple of days to live. Alex is 77 and his wife said he's suffered from dementia for about 10 years, something they've attributed to head injuries and treatment from playing football.

And while you are at it... here is a 30 second video EVERYONE should see. From John Thurman (LASD ret)...

She’s also had every plastic surgery procedure known to man and has even had her stomach stapled shut in an attempt to “cure” her overeating and bulimia disorders. As recently as 2004, however, Osbourne has said that the operation didn’t work quite like she had hoped and that she still purged frequently, even to her family’s knowledge. She has said that she intends to get help, but whether she has finally conquered the disease or not has yet to be revealed."

Sunday Football ~ Sami ~ Atlas ~ Sheriff John ~ Columbus Day ~ Thanksgiving Canada

Good 39º morning. Slept like a rock. Didn't want to get up this morning!

Patriots (Tom Brady) 31 ... Broncos (Peyton Manning) 21!!!
WHOOT WHOOT WHOOT. And WOW the Saints came out of their slump (0-4) and beat San Diego! A shot in the arm the Saints needed!

10-8 in radio code talk means "in service" or as many would say "10-8 out the gate".

Had a call yesterday morning early from Brian's cell phone. Sami was on the line to tell me she had lost a tooth "at Disneyland!" It came out on the Thunder Mountain ride. She said she got "Disney dollars" for it! They are all back home and of course Brian had to go to work today. He said he needs a vacation from his vacation! Probably because they walked every day for 4 days and closed the park at night!

Atlas will go home today. He's been a funny houseguest. He lays on his "living room bed" when I am watching TV, or on his back, or with his body on the bed and his head is on the floor!

How sad Sheriff John died yesterday. When I was 8 and 9 years old I would sometimes 'fake' a stomachache so I could stay home and watch his "Sheriff John's Lunch Brigade" ... I loved Crusader Rabbit! Here is a look back...

I missed him on the birthdays for October 2nd, mainly because Wikipedia doesn't have him listed! Born in 1919 he turned 93 5 days before he passed away. RIP John.
