Rain! ~ Aaron Marie ~ Buck ~ Spreads for Corn on the Cob

Good 50º morning. Overcast again, but should clear up and be nice. Although, it does look like it's raining on my mountain!

 Well, son of a gun.... it is raining!!!!!

And here's the radar....

I doubt it will last long. Nice though.

"They" said it was going to be cooler yesterday. It was, 75º instead of 82º .

Aaron and Marie were due in today. Surprise, they arrived at 2:15 in the morning! Aaron knew where a key was so I woke up and he and Marie were already in. Of course Maggie being deaf didn't help, so no warning!!!  Porch party for them on Sunday and they will probably leave on Monday to Sacramento to a friend's and then to his other family ..... You know, the beeotch who always treated me badly even after she gave her son to Jerry and I to raise!! What a bimbo. Now she is lavishing attention on him and acting like she had something to do with he being the man he is today. Ha! She was such a pathetic mother.... to both Aaron (treated him badly and ignored him and lavished on his little brother) and Lincoln. Aaron turned out to be a fine young man and Lincoln is still screwed up! Ok ok ok... off the box.

They had driven all afternoon and night from Idaho. As they came through Rogue River the local poleece stopped him. "PC" was his license plate. He asked Aaron why his plate was expired. Aaron said it wasn't. The officer said "It says 07" and Aaron countered with, "That's the month". "Ok." Because of the hour and Aaron being in the proximity of two of RR's bars, he used that to see if he had been drinking. Pretty much DUI is the 'catch' in town at that hour.

So, they both took a shower and hopped into bed. I think I went to sleep about 3:15 and Maggie was startled by a squawking turkey at 6:15. So, we got up. Hope the kids sleep a while to freshen up.

Yesterday I vacuumed and dusted and steamed the floors. (How I HATE housework!) I tried to clean everything, but didn't quite make it.  Did some laundry. Watered. (Ha, for a while didn't think I'd ever have to water again! Didn't do the grass, so glad we're getting a little precipitation.

Looked out and here was this handsome buck on the back porch eating corn from the tub that I put it in for the gray squirrels....

He was running with a young doe. Took this through the window.

82* ~ Fresh Salmon ~ Old Movie Star's Homes

Good 52º overcast morning. Weather says it will not rain, just stay cloudy and cooler than yesterday.

Yesterday hit 82º. Winter was trying to leave, Spring never showed, and Summer was here! Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..............
So... looks like Sunday will be a nice day. Hope so. Aaron and Marie here.

On my way to Central Point yesterday Mt. McLaughlin was spectacular against a blue sky...

Yesterday was our Republican Women's luncheon. Our speaker was  Dr. Art Robinson. He ran against Pete DeFazio (asshole) in Dist 4 for Oregon Congress.  Since 3 of Art's kids are at Oregon State going for their doctorates and the school was funded in a large amount by the Democrats the school has made it impossible for the kids. Basically the school is pro Democrat and pro DeFazio. It's been a huge mess. One professor who tried to intercede got fired.
Dr. Robinson went to Cal-Tech (Pasadena) and is very interesting to listen to. Easy to listen to. Calm. Informative. It was enjoyable.

Lunch was a great salad, Caesar type with lots of Parmesan, pasta (I didn't eat) and chicken with a pesto sauce. Tender and juicy. Oh, and carrots that had a Rosemary touch. Wonderful. I was good, no dessert.

Left there and headed to Costco. Looked like they were giving away free stuff as the parking lot was filled! Then, of course, I walked all the way into the store and forgot my list! Dang. So walked all the way back to the truck. Sheepishly told the door guy I was here once but.... blah blah blah.... He laughed.

Came home. Road full of idiot drivers. Must be on cell phones or texting or just inattentive. Bugs me.

My neighbors Cindy and Frank's friend caught more salmon and they shared a giant piece with me. I cooked some night before last and again last night. I just crispy sauteéd it in lemon infused olive oil. Put it on a bed of spinach drizzled with olive oil and lemon juice and tomatoes. HEAVEN! I have individually bagged the rest for dinners later...

(Wednesday night's piece is missing from the slab...)

Brenda Myron ~ Brush-hogging ~ Green Pea Salad

Good 40º sunny clear beautiful morning! Yeah. Sun.

Yesterday Dean got here about 9am and hooked up the brush-hog to his tractor ...

 Underneath it has two big blades. Then he spent 7 hours cutting the grass in the pastures...

and now it's all cut...

I spent several hours finishing up my mowing and Jason was here for 4 hours weed-eating. I still have to spray grass in the road and weeds, but not today.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sadly, a dear friend passed away. I was notified by Sheriff's Relief that Brenda Myron, wife of former LA Undersheriff Paul Myron, died Tuesday "after a short illness". I had known Paul for years and then went on a cruise with the Myron's in 2008.
In 2009 Brenda and Paul visited here in Southern Oregon. We did the 'tourist' thing, ate at the Jacksonville Inn, went on a wine tour... we had a blast.
And Brenda bought me this gorgeous wine glass....
We had such a wonderful time and they promised to come back again soon.
RIP Brenda. You were a terrific lady and friend and you will be missed so very much. My heart goes to Paul and their family. I know how they must be feeling. I still can't believe it myself.
Sigh....... Brenda Brenda Brenda!
I was filling the nyjer bird feeders yesterday and this little finch didn't seem afraid of me. He just sat there....
So I ran and got my camera and took his picture. He's a real young one. Cute! Has a nyjer seed stuck to his beak.
Down another pound yesterday, so when chores were done Dave and PJ came up and had a chat on the porch and I had a glass of wine.  It was so beautiful and the breeze was blowing. Nice. I hope it stays this way for Aaron and Marie's visit this weekend.
Here's an old family favorite... a cool salad for summer....
Pea Salad
1   bag of frozen peas (16 oz)
4   stalks celery, chopped
3   hard-boiled eggs, grated
2   cups shredded cheddar cheese
½  cup grated Parmesan cheese
      fried crumbled bacon (like to buy it ready packaged at Costco)
      chopped green onions
      sometimes I add a jar of chopped pimentos
      sometimes I add a can of chopped black olives
1    cup mayonnaise
2    T.  mustard
       salt, pepper, and garlic powder
 Place the peas in a colander and run under cold water until just thawed but still cold. Allow to drain and then place in large bowl. Stir in the mayonnaise mixture, more or less according to your taste, and add the rest of the ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
