~ SUNSHINE! ~ Car Wash ~ Potsalagoo ~ Chip and Dip Day ~

Good 36º morning.
Yesterday we actually had sun! Driving to Medford....Mt McLaughlin in the background...
And.... Table Rock  .......
Went to Costco. Brian wanted bar-mop towels for his bathroom at the office. He is doing the environmental thing. The cleaners next door will wash them for him and he'll keep a stack in the bathroom so he doesn't have just one towel (with germs) and doesn't have to buy and throw out paper towels. Then I got Maggie some 'chicken' dental chews, broccoli, freeze dried sliced garlic and diced onion.
Left there and went to Grants Pass to the car wash.
Sorry Oregon people, when I wash my truck you can be guaranteed of at least a week of rain! Stand by....
Stopped at Brian's office
and had a cup of coffee, chatted, gave him the towels. Then to Staples to trade in the old ink cartridges I bought for my old printer for new ones for the new printer.  Then off to Rogue River and trade in the prime dog food Maggie won't eat for some cat food on sale for Harley. I had a coupon for free Yoplait yogurt and a buck off 14 cans of cat food. With the dog food credit and the total of my purchases, I owed the market 27¢.
Got home and tried the 'new' chicken flavored dental chews on Maggie and she took it politely and then dropped it in the living room! Sigh....................................... I had given Brian the two bags of regular dental chews she wouldn't eat, for Atlas. B said he loves them. Looks like he may get some chicken flavored ones now too.
Dinner ... cooked and mashed broccoli mixed with sauteéd hamburger, mushrooms, garlic, onions, and cooked brown rice. Added bread crumbs, 2 beaten eggs, grape tomatoes, and parmesan cheese. Sickeningly good for me. Tasty though with added hot sweet chili sauce. (I make my own.) Baked until browned. Something like this I'd always call 'pots-a-la-goo' (a one dish/pan meal)

Volunteer Totals and Luncheon Location ~ Goof-Off Day

Good 30º morning. Clouds sitting right down on top of us. Pressure going up. We may get sun.

Yesterday I went to Medford, met up with Ruth, and we proceeded to the library

(It wasn't a snow day, but the only picture I could find)

in her new little red Ford Focus, that she is so enjoying.

I was impressed with this new library. All the bells and whistles. We met up with Felicity and Sheila and we totaled up the volunteer hours our JCRW members had turned in. These people will be recognized at a later date and the club with 25000 + volunteer hours will get a national award.

Then Ruth and I headed to the Dollar Tree

for wrapping paper and bags for favors and prizes to be given at our 1 + 1 Luncheon in two weeks. Then to Veranda Park

where the luncheon will be held. We talked to the dining room manager and finalized the menu and seating...

This is a lovely retirement living location on the hill above Medford.

I left and headed for Costco. OMG, each lane in the parking lot had 4 to 5 cars waiting for parking spaces. I came home! On the way the sky looked threatening...

..... and here on the left it was pouring down rain, but none on the roadway

and coming into Rogue River you can see our mill's chimney is working full throtle....

Hopefully today I can get to Costco, early!

~ Ladybugs ~ Flies ~ Strawberries ~

Good 40º raining morning. The radar doesn't show anything over us, but the rain is sure coming down! 1/4" so far. Some sprinkles yesterday and a tiny bit of sun.

Maggs and I went to the market about 1-ish yesterday. Chicken still on sale at Rays for 89¢ per pound. Got three 6# chickens. One went into the crockpot and two in the freezer. Seems I'm cooking one every 7 days or so. Only thing Maggie will eat! I opened a can of prime dog food yesterday morning and she turned her nose up at it. Gave the rest of the large can of chicken with vegetables to Mike at Napa for the dogs there.

Came home and saved lives! Really. Seems a batch of lady bugs
hatched in my bathroom in the plants in there. I caught and released 7 of those little guys...

Lately this has been a 'hatchery'. I had a bunch of big black flies suddenly appear in my kitchen window. They must have hatched from the track the window is in. I killed over 30 of them one morning and now occasionally another couple will appear. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Chunky monkey now!

Last night was reruns on the corned beef and cabbage and seemed like reruns on TV too. I watched a movie called Alaska. Jake Barnes and his two kids, Sean and Jessie, move to Alaska after his wife died. He is a former airline pilot now delivering groceries and staples across the mountains. During an emergency delivery in a storm his plane goes down somewhere in the mountains. Annoyed that the authorities aren't doing enough, Jessie and Sean set out on an adventure to find their father with the help of a polar bear cub which they have saved from a ferocious poacher.
Father played by Dirk Benedict and if you can believe it, the bad guy was Charlton Heston! Made in 1996. The bear cub was CUTE!!!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday.
