Rain ~ Full Moon ~ Time Change ~ Cat Earrings ~ Apple Bacon Coleslaw ~ Berta ~ Book Lovers Day

Good 39ยบ cloudy dark morning. Rainfall yesterday was 3/4".

It's a full moon out there tonight, so be careful!!!

Ok, Standard Time starts tomorrow November 5th.

I saw these earrings and had to order them.....

Too late for Halloween, but will wear them anyway!
Here is a good Coleslaw .... It has the crunch of the cabbage, the tartness of the apples, and the smokiness of the bacon!

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (16-ounce) package shredded coleslaw mix
  • 2 large apples, diced
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, mayonnaise, mustard, lemon juice, hot sauce, sugar, and salt.

  2. Add coleslaw mix and apple, and toss until evenly coated. Sprinkle with bacon and serve, or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Special birthday today, my pal from way back when, Berta (Sommer) Long, who goes by Bobbe now. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BERTA!!!! Miss you girl! You are looking good!!!!! xoxo

November 4th.
Book Lovers Day

Book reading is a great hobby. It's an important one, too. Employers look for it on resumes. Reading is educational, informative, and relaxing. It makes us both smarter, and happier people.

Book Lovers Day is a great day to celebrate. Just grab an interesting book, find a quiet, cozy place, and crack open the cover. Celebrating Book Lovers Day in August is pleasurable on the deck, under a shady tree, poolside, or in a cozy hammock. If you fall asleep while reading, that's okay. It's all part of the relaxing benefits of being a book lover.

Aaron wrote me that Maddie had fallen off the couch and broke her collar bone. Poor baby girl! Nothing as for surgery or stabilization yet. Here is her x-ray...

She was smiling for her trick or treating
and Aaron said the Tylenol must have kicked in!

Later it was a no baseball calm evening. Watched some favorites..... NYPD Blue, Blue Bloods, and My Favorite Thing To Eat ... where was found the "best" cranberry sauce ever in Portland Oregon. I will look into it and it can be ordered. Sounds perfect for an after Thanksgiving turkey sandwich!

November 3rd
National Sandwich Day
What's your favorite?

We invite you to bite into your favorite sandwich, for today is Sandwich Day. The sandwich is truly a great creation. Sandwiches are a daily luncheon staple for millions of Americans.

The annals of English history report that John Montagu was the 4th Earl of Sandwich. Among other things, the 4th Earl of Sandwich was a heavy gambler. Montagu often spent many long hours in London's gambling parlors. In 1762, he created the sandwich, by putting meat between two pieces of bread. This allowed him to remain at the gambling table for long periods of time. Obviously, the sandwich was named after him

Celebrate this special day by eating sandwiches at every meal! Consume your favorite sandwich. Better yet, be bold and daring..... try a new sandwich!
