Rain ~ Eye Test ~ Ann Gabe Ramirez ~ Mike Cippola ~ Creamy Chicken Mushroom Soup ~ Maddie ~ Fav TV Shows ~ National Sandwich Day

Good 45º raining morning. Not enough yet to measure, but we'll see.... Friend Pat and Alice Reardon called and told me about the bunch of snow they got yesterday in Idaho. Snow predicted for here too, but I'm at 1200 feet and it won't come lower that 3000' or so.

Yesterday morning this is what it looked like...

Then the wind started blowing and it was raining leaves! Temp 54º. Burrrrr...... Temps stayed in the 50ºs all day.

Pal, Sugar Bear, shared this on her Facebook page. It is AMAZING. Read the instructions and follow... I was so blown away. WOW!

Special Anniversary today... Ann and Gabe Ramirez (LASD both ret.) HAPPY 27th ANNIVERSARY KIDS!!!

And a birthday of email pal, Mike Cippola (with his bride Nan) HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE!!!

  3. Mix in the garlic and thyme and cook until fragrant, about a minute.
  4. Add the broth, rice, chicken and mushrooms, bring to a boil, reduce the heat and simmer until the rice is tender, about 20-30 minutes.

Aaron wrote me that Maddie had fallen off the couch and broke her collar bone. Poor baby girl! Nothing as for surgery or stabilization yet. Here is her x-ray...

She was smiling for her trick or treating
and Aaron said the Tylenol must have kicked in!

Later it was a no baseball calm evening. Watched some favorites..... NYPD Blue, Blue Bloods, and My Favorite Thing To Eat ... where was found the "best" cranberry sauce ever in Portland Oregon. I will look into it and it can be ordered. Sounds perfect for an after Thanksgiving turkey sandwich!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy TGIF. Ciao

National Sandwich Day
What's your favorite?

We invite you to bite into your favorite sandwich, for today is Sandwich Day. The sandwich is truly a great creation. Sandwiches are a daily luncheon staple for millions of Americans.

The annals of English history report that John Montagu was the 4th Earl of Sandwich. Among other things, the 4th Earl of Sandwich was a heavy gambler. Montagu often spent many long hours in London's gambling parlors. In 1762, he created the sandwich, by putting meat between two pieces of bread. This allowed him to remain at the gambling table for long periods of time. Obviously, the sandwich was named after him

Celebrate this special day by eating sandwiches at every meal! Consume your favorite sandwich. Better yet, be bold and daring..... try a new sandwich!

Throw Back Thursday Temple Deputies 1975 ~ Aaron Marie & Maddie ~ Ranch Noodles ~ World Series Ender ~ Deviled Egg Day

Good 37º cloudy dark gloomy morning. We hit the low 70ºs by late afternoon yesterday.

Throw Back Thursday....
A collage of Temple Station Deputies 1975....

Yesterday Aaron (Jerry's son) and Marie sent me these photos of them and baby Maddie going trick or treating...Maddie  as a racoon! So cute!

Ranch Noodles Side Dish ....
One pot, fast and easy, easy clean up!
What You'll Need:
  • 1 (8-ounce) package egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup Ranch dressing
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup bacon bits
  • 1 scallion, sliced
Cook egg noodles according to package directions; drain and return to pot.

Stir in butter and remaining ingredients. Serve immediately.
Here's another tasty idea! Substitute an 8-ounce package of thin spaghetti for the egg noodles, and add chopped cooked ham and steamed broccoli. Saute the ham in a lightly greased skillet over medium-high heat to crisp it up and give it a smoky bacon-like flavor.

November 2nd
National Deviled Egg Day

All you devils, must go forth and consume deviled eggs on this very special day.
Certainly, the whole purpose of this day, is to make and eat Deviled Eggs. You can use your favorite recipe, or (hopefully) find a restaurant serving them in recognition of this day.
Get creative... add bacon bits, cheese, some mashed avocado, I like pesto in mine, garnish with caviar, add in rinsed and drained canned crabmeat and finely chopped celery, finely chopped green chiles, top with a shrimp, .... so many ideas ....
