Good 39º ice on the barn roof again morning. We warmed to the high 60ºs yesterday.

"10-23" = stand by....('just wait a second. cool your heels!')

Smilebox #2 will be on Sunday's blog....

On the plane we were given a "Sroopwafel" to go with our coffee.

OMGOOOOOD!!! I just ordered some from Amazon. They are made in the Netherlands. "Soft toasted waffle filled with caramel (or some have honey), cinnamon, and real bourbon vanilla." Pour your coffee and set one on top of the cup and it will warm. 

Dinner last night was an Omaha Steaks Sole Almondine and a stuffed baked potato both cooked in the Air Fryer.

I had found an ear of corn in the fridge that had been there since before I had left for Hawaii. It was wrinkled and looking not so good. So, I put about 1/4 cup vinegar in a pot of water and brought it to a boil. Dropped in the corn and let it boil about 2 minutes, turned off the heat and set it aside until my dinner was ready. Miracle.... the corn puffed out and tasted perfect!!

I have said this before, I always put vinegar in the water to cook the corn, as it never has a vinegar taste, but it keeps the corn crispy and never mushy.

National Nut Day

or......

National Nut Day is today. It's a little kooky and crazy if you ask me.

One can go a little bit batty contemplating the meaning of this day. Research came up empty on information about this day. So, we can't be certain as to the meaning of this very nutty day. There are two very obvious possibilities:

1. This day honors (???) all of the nutty people in the world. It gives recognition to all the kooks, loony birds and daffy people in your life. Show them you care today.

2. This day celebrates nutritious and healthy nuts (food) of all kinds. Celebrate today by eating lots of nuts, either as a snack, or in baked goods. 

Of course it is always possible that this day celebrates the "Nut" that screws onto a bolt for fastening things.

A couple of nutty facts:

Peanuts are not really nuts. They are Legumes, a member of the "Pea" family.

The center of seeds, like pumpkins and squash, is called a "nut".
