My Dude likes to lay by my feet and get rubbed by my foot. Here we are on the front porch....

Dinner was first some snacks..... Wine and the mixed veggie/green pepper/okra chips: 

 

I HAD to make more of that Cold Cucumber Soup! I doubled the recipe. If you missed it, on the left is the index of blogs, go to August 12th. So, this is 3 pounds of cucumbers....

Cut up, take out seeds, cut up and mix with salt and let sit in colander til excess liquid runs out, pat dry, mix with seasonings and yogurt and process in the food processor, or in my case, the Bullet!

A cup of this after the veggie chips and I was full. SOOOOOO good. This will be a staple in this house for sure!

 

Then the eggplant I got at 7 Oaks Farm was on the agenda to cook, but wasn't in the mood. Tonight!!

 

Brian Jen and family were all up at the Motion Matrix, http://www.motionmatrixkids.com/, where Tucker and Sami take gymnastics. They were having a yard sale to raise money for the kid's programs. Jen posted this picture of Sami on FB....

 

Oh, and by the way...................

 

Yesterday afternoon the buck was out in the yard... eating the leaves off the apple tree and grapevines and some grass. Then laying down in the side yard..... all these photos taken through windows so I wouldn't frighten them.....

I was happy to see the momma doe. She spent some time in the front yard, resting on the grass in the shade.

I worry about her, as it appears she has a skin problem. Hadn't seen her for a few days and was worried. Also only say two of the fawns. Yesterday the fawns were out there while mom lay in the yard...

She eventually jumped over the fence and headed their way. I was praying for the Lord to "give her some love" as she looks bad. Then out of the trees come her three babies, jumping and running to her and greeting her. Prayers answered, she got the "love"!!!

 

The other doe joined the buck eating the apple leaves.

 

I texted Brian and Kris that the deer were in my yard most of the afternoon. Brian texted back "a shirtless man" had mowed his front lawn in the afternoon and then mowed the backyard. !!!!! LOL! My son the nut!  ♥ And Kristen texted that the only thing down there was a cat who comes around and makes the dogs bark! ♥ The joys of country life!

After dinner I watched some of the national female gymnastics competition, an episode of Blue Bloods (Tom Selleck....YUMMMM!), and a Hallmark movie, See Jane Date.

Cute, but I didn't like the other characters in the movie... her boss's secretary a total beeeeeotch! Her aunt and cousin, total beeeeeotches! And the stupid men she dated! Finally a good ending. Struggle to get there though~

My Mom was born 110 years ago today.  Margaret Mills Laney. She was the NICEST and most GENTILE woman ever! (Sure didn't take after her, did I? LOL) She was born in Cleveland Ohio in 1905 (d. 1994) to immigrant Scottish parents. Born in her aunt's home next door to Bob Hope's home.... her little cousins played with Bob Hope. Happy Birthday Mom. You are sooooooo missed every single day. I love you.

Breakfast yesterday was some of Harry and David's Caramel Pecan coffee. I ground the beans and just added in some sugar free vanilla coffee creamer. HEAVEN!!!

Then I had some yogurt and blueberries.....

I had posted some time ago about washing fruit with vinegar when you bring it home. Then rinse with water. I did that with the blueberries, and my how they have lasted without getting bad!

 

On the news last night, Haggan is closing up 27 of their stores ... 1 in Grants Pass!

Whaaaaaa?????? They took over Albertsons and now are closing? Their prices are too high. Didn't they have a clue??? We have 2 in Grants Pass, if they close 1 aren't they going to end up closing the other? They are closing the 2 in Klamath Falls. Big empty stores now. Lost jobs. Sick. Piss poor planning on someone's part!

Went into Grants Pass and stopped at Brian's office to drop off some things.. his requested goodies from Harry & David...

Then it was wine and snacks with pals Nancy, PJ, Micol, and Jennifer at Rosso's Trattoria in Grants Pass.

Our chow... (sorry, fuzzy. had my tiny camera, not the good one!) mine was a spinach artichoke pie (SOOOOO GOOD), Micol's a shrimp salad, Jennifer's an eggplant salad, and PJ had clams & linguini.

I had some of their tomato basil soup. OMGOOOOOD!!! Hearty! Going back for more of that!

Nancy didn't want "lunch" so she had tiramisu... We all had a taste... YUMMY!

Good to visit with the girls. Nice.

 

Then to the car wash..

Came home, sorted pictures, and was done for the day. Only 84º yesterday. Beats any day over 90º!! Lots of clouds out there too.... it was really beautiful. This the drive home.....

Oregon feline just named world's oldest living cat!

Meet Corduroy, the world's oldest living cat. This Oregonian just turned 26, which equals out to approximately 121 human years!

He was confirmed the world's title, a coveted spot that was previously held by Tiffany Two, who lived to be 27 years, 2 months, and 20 days.

 

Corduroy's owner, Ashely Reed Okura, chocks up his extreme longevity to a healthy lifestyle. "The secret has been allowing him to be a cat, hunting and getting plenty of love. Growing up on 160 acres in Oregon, I allow Corduroy to roam the ranch freely, so he always gets lots of exercise."

 

He is very much like my Harley, who lived to be 22 years old... Harley had shorter hair!

 

Last evening Mr. Buck was out in the pasture... took these through dining room window... grapevines in the way...
