Dude ~ Rain ~ AOL ~ Bullshillary ~ Vanilla Pudding

Good 56ยบ very cloudy morning.

Yesterday about 11am...

Dude was enjoying the sunshine and napped.

I watched Bruiser head down the driveway toward my gate. Just past the creek bed he jumped through the fence into Frank and Cindy's property. He was gone for quite a while, until the rain started......

The rain started at almost 3pm .... by almost 4pm we were getting thunder boomers!

Nice. We ended up with about 1/4".

Boy, yesterday was a trial with AOL. I am not the only one that is getting fed up with them. Doesn't stay on line. Freezes all the time. Need to look into something else, although don't want to, as I have had AOL for 20 years!
Talked to a tech, in Romania!!!, who did help me get back going, but even after uninstalling and reinstalling it still freezes up. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........... Communicated with a bunch of friends who also have AOL and they had the same complaints. I don't think just because Verizon is buying AOL it will change anything. Wish there was another carrier that was as easy to use as AOL has been all these years. Dang!

Was in a poopy mood too, so not much got accomplished. Dinner was a rerun of the veggie and crab from Wednesday. Awesomely good though! Watched a goofy moive, Sideways, and the Bruise did nothing but sleep after his several hour adventure and running home in the rain!

National Vanilla Pudding Day

Vanilla Pudding History

May 22 is National Vanilla Pudding Day, but what we enjoy today is far different from the dish’s origins.
Culinary historians believe that the precursor of vanilla pudding originated in earl early medieval Europe, an evolution of an Arab pudding-like dish of rice and almonds. The oldest recipe known dates back to the early 13th century, a translation that is believed to have been based on a manuscript from the 12th century or earlier.
Over the centuries, the recipe turned into blancmange (pronounced blah-MOHNJ), meaning “white dish,” from the Old French blanc mangier. This dish was enjoyed by Europe’s wealthy during the Middle Ages. It appears frequently in recipe collections of the time from all over the Continent, and is called one of “the few truly international dishes of medieval and early modern Europe.”*
*Source: Wikipedia.
The dish is referred to in the prologue to Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales and in an early 15th century cookbook written by the chefs of Richard II. We first came across the reference as a child, in the book Little Women.
Originally a white stew, the key ingredients of the original blancmange were milk or almond milk, sugar and shredded capon or fish. In the 17th century, the meat was dropped and the dish evolved into a dessert pudding made with cream and eggs (and, later, gelatin*). In the 19th century, arrowroot and cornstarch were added and the dish evolved into the final, modern blanc mange, known in the U.S. as vanilla pudding (and originally known as cornstarch pudding).

Dinner...

First I took some carrot chips, tossed them with olive oil and garlic salt, and roasted them at 350ยบ for 20 min.

In the mean time I heated the pre-cooked quinoa & rice. I reconstituted some Harmony House peas and green beans. Cut up some artichoke hearts, celery, and separated the crab.

I sauteรฉd the fake crab in a little olive oil and butter along with the mushrooms, celery, and chokes.

Then in went the peas/green beans.....

Next the quinoa & rice and carrot chips... Heated well... added in some coarse Sonoma pepper and sea salt.

This was OMGOOOOD!!!

Of course if you don't like the fake crab, use cooked chicken, sausage, salmon, whatever works for you. The veggies in this were really awesome!!!

Received this information from several people. I you are wondering if your car is one of them listed for the recall on Takata Air Bags... go to www.usa.gov/ and in the top search window type in Takata recall. It will take you to a page where it will have a link to insert your vin number to get the information you need. Mine wasn't on the list!

Yesterday Mike was here to weed-eat. I told him to use the golf cart to make it easier than walking all over the place with the weed eater and the gas can.
Although, it worked great for him, Dude was JEALOUS!!!! Dude thinks the golf cart is his.. or he should be running with it or riding in it! Every time Mike moved it Dude barked at him.

Mike finished up and we sat and chatted for a bit with a Sin Fire and a wine for me. He left and the rain started! Then I see Koda, dog from about 1/2 a mile up the road, come running. He looked scared. I let him in the yard. Called his dad Sean. Fortunately Sean was on his way home and close by. Natch with the rain, both he and Dude were wet!

Sean said his daughter is getting married this Saturday and Koda hasn't been getting much attention. Guess he knows he gets some here!
Too wet out there to mow today. Guess I'll vacuum, mop, and dust. Thrills every minute!!!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy TBT. Ciao.

National Waiters and Waitresses Day

This is a job, along with being a nurse, I would never do. I so respect them all, and give kudoos to waiting on HORRIBLE rude nasty people and still keeping their cool!

National Waiters and Waitresses Day recognizes the value and importance of a good waiter or waitress. When you go out to eat, they represent the restaurant, and are all the difference between a good or a bad experience.
You already recognize your waiters and waitresses every time you go to a restaurant. That recognition comes in the form of a tip. The tip should be commensurate with the quality of the service.
You can recognize your waiters and waitresses on National Waiters and Waitresses Day by giving them a little something extra. In addition to a generous tip, a card or simple verbal recognition is sufficient.
Waiters and waitresses should recognize this day by making sure by providing exemplary service (as always).
