Dentist ~ Wayne Low ~ Shopping ~ Wafflecuits ~ Couscous w/ Veggies & Salmon

Good 41ยบ foggy morning. Yeah!

Yesterday I had a dental appointment. Joy. They had to 'fix' the crown the edodontics dentist dug through for my root canal. So, a new crown has to be made and I got a temporary one. Mouth is SORE! Whine whine wine! Dr. Susan Wellman is great! So is her assistant, Shasta, and at the front desk is Becca. My pal, Liz (I call her Lizardbreath!) is the hygienist. You always feel so welcome there!

Ahhh Missa Row, how you go? How row you go Missa Row?
Hey, a big shout out for a HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Wayne Low!

SEB Motors guy!  Wayne 4th from left... Hope you have a great day Wayne! Well, I guess you already celebrated, didn't you, at Lawry's Prime Rib! I am so pea green.

PICTURE OF THE DAY:

Speaking of Paris, I went on line to a favorite catalog... PotpourriGift.com and ordered two sweatshirts and a hoodie... gettin' ready for Valentines Day and St. Pats

This zip up hoodie had Paris all over it.... (Paris is on my bucket list!)

Breakfast yesterday was eggs, cheese/garlic wafflecuits, and sliced tomatoes. "Wafflecuits" you say? Yep.......

To Bisquick biscuit mix you only add water. You don't have to make the whole package. Using a soup spoon, scoop out 1 rounded spoonful for each biscuit. Add water a little at a time to make a spreadable dough. I also added a few drizzles of olive oil. Heat the waffle iron, put one scoop for each on the iron, close lid and check after a couple of minutes, and continue to check until the doneness you want. These were awesome. A little salsa on the wafflecuit, a bit of egg, and voilรก! Heaven.
If you don't have a waffle iron I recommend this one:
You can use it for waffles or a grill to cook bacon, eggs, steak, whatever. The cook surfaces come out and are easy to clean (dishwasher).

Dinner was Couscous cooked with Harmony House dehydrated vegetables
and a can of sliced mushrooms and some chives. I had some smoked salmon patties so put them in the top of the rice cooker so they would steam.  (It's really amazing what you can cook in this rice cooker/steamer...

Then topped them with a new item, Siracha Mayo! OMGOOOOOOOOOOD!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.

Chocolate Cake Day

Chocolate Cake Day is a a chocolate lovers delight, and a day to eat cake. Why this a day to "bake your chocolate cake....and eat it, too!"
On this day, a white or yellow cake will not do. Nor, will part chocolate, part white suffice. It must be chocolate, all chocolate. You can make milk chocolate, dark chocolate, fudge, or any other type of chocolate cake.
The only reference to Chocolate Day on the Internet is from Ecard and calendar websites. This might lead you to conclude that this as a day for(and by) the Ecard companies. But, we know better. This day is for you, and all chocolate lovers.
There are three objectives of Chocolate Cake Day: To bake a chocolate cake. To decorate a chocolate cake. And, to eat a chocolate cake. Of course, if you are to busy to bake or decorate a cake, then just eating a chocolate cake will certainly do!

Good 41ยบ foggy (what else) morning.

Yesterday the fog just hung around and hung around. Then the geese showed up... First it was three of them, then the others joined in..

This is just about exactly the same date they show up every year!

The turkeys were out if force also.... as Bruiser investigated..

It finally warmed to 56ยบ . The sun was out so Dude and I rode/ran to the road and I put out the trash can. Stopped to check PJ and Dave's... Dude checked too!

Came home and made a Bloody M. Haven't had one of these in YEARS! Mmmmmm... really good.

Saw this and since Trish's son and his bride have a new waffle iron I sent her the instructions. Also shared with Jeannie, who still doesn't have a waffle iron, but should get one! LOL.

I like to make my grilled cheese (with bacon) sandwiches in the waffle iron. Spray it with cooking spray and add in your stuffed sandwich. Comes out GREAT! I posted this sometime back:
Lunch yesterday was a grilled cheese sandwich, cooked in the waffle iron. Mmmmmmmmmmm !!! Butter both sides of the bread as you would for grilling in a pan. I use I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray. (Or as the daily drivel gals call it.. "ICBINB") You have to make sure the cheese is tucked inside the edges of the bread or it tends to run out. Just take the waffle iron apart, let it sit under cold running water, and the cheese lifts right off.

You can also get a box of brownie mix and make "brownie waffles" or use peanut butter cookie mix!
Also, spray waffle iron with cooking spray, take apart a can of refrigerated biscuits, put 4 on waffle iron at one time and cook.  How abut Buffalo Wing Chicken Waffles....

Ok, so I discovered I was almost out of my infused olive oil.  OMG! Can't let that happen!
First I soak dried garlic slices, dried chopped onion, and dried red pepper flakes in really hot water until it cools.

Then strain and dry with paper towels.

Heat enough olive oil, to fill three wine bottles (or whatever you want to store it in), to 175ยบ.

When it's hot, add in the re-hydrated  garlic/onion/peppers..Let sit until room temperature.

Put a coffee filter in the strainer and let the olive oil soak through..

I put it in used wine bottles and use a pour/stopper so it's easy to use.

This is good on EVERYTHING... even scrambled eggs!!!

Didn't watch the Miss Universe Contest. Didn't watch the Pro Bowl. Didn't watch the SAG Awards. Soooooooooooo not interested in any of them!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday. Ciao.

January 26th
National Spouse's Day

Spouse's Day is always on January 26th
Military Spouse's Day is held on the Friday before Mother's Day
Spouse's Day is a time to enjoy and appreciate your better half. You can use this day as a prelude or warm up to Valentine's Day, perhaps. But, its not as much of a gift giving event. Rather, use it as a time to show your spouse that you care and appreciate all of the things that he/she does for you and for the household. Over the long years of a relationship, its easy to take for granted the many things your spouse does. He/she's always there. They do so many big and little things as a routine event. So, take today to notice and to say thanks. As for the "enjoyment" part of the day...we will leave that up to you to enjoy your spouse however the two of your desire....
Military Spouses Day is a day to recognize and honor the real backbone of the military..... the spouses of our soldiers. This day recognizes the contributions made by military spouses to the spirit and well being of soldiers and military communities. Where would military moral be without their spouses behind them?
