Mistake On News ~ Cheeta's Transformation ~ Idiots ~ Pest Control ~ Veggie/Pupusa Rerun ~ Posing Nude ~ Dana Janie Tim Bob Catherine

Good 55º clear gonna be hot again morning.

I was watching our local news last night and they did a segment on LASD and the overweight/obese deputies who were going to start dieting and taking off the extra weight. They interviewed a 20 year motor Deputy. They said there were 1800 sworn on the department.

Quote from Wikipedia:
"The LASD is the largest sheriff's department, and the fourth largest local policing agency in the United states. There are more than 18,000 employees, over 9100 sworn, and over 8000 civilians. There are an additional 4200 civilian volunteers, 900 Reserve Deputies, and 400 Explorer Scouts."
I called the station and told them that was incorrect that the department had 10,000 sworn when I worked there and the number has to be close to that. I think they may have read the 18,000 and screwed up with their statement. Oh well, straightened them out!

LOL:
Cheeta, Tarzan's chimpanzee's transformation......

(the following sent by my friend Greg.....True!)

American cities are crumbling.
Our southern border is dissolving.
Our debt is skyrocketing.

Our enemies are laughing.
Obama is fundraising AND golfing.

Thanks to all the fools that voted for this idiot…….

Yesterday the pest control guy for day 1 of this project was to be here at 8am. I was up, dressed, got the blog out, and then waited and waited! At 9:30 I called the company. They got the schedule all screwed up! Groan............... So Josh showed up at 11am. He took out the insulation in the barn by the stairs then he sprayed the whole barn area and around the house and put some type of bait in/under the two madrone trees the ground squirrels have burrowed under.

Lunch was almost reruns.... I put a pupusa in a dish, topped it with some precooked stir-fry veggies I had cooked in a little oil and a bit of water the day before, heated it in the micro, topped with Parmesan cheese. YUMMMMMMM!!!!

Then it was time to clean out the freezer again and search for something new. Oh, I found lots of goodies. One was a lobster tail... and crab cakes! Tomorrow.....

And historical haps and famous births:
Fess Parker, Eydie Gormé, Robert Culp, Lesley Ann Warren, Madonna, Steve Carell ...

GUESS WHO this is..... posing nude!!! OMG
It's Betty White. Whodda thought!!!

Dana and his friend Bob came over to take a look at the stamping machine in the barn. Jerry used it to cut out holsters from leather. They measured everything. Then later they came back with Dana's wife Janie, who I hadn't seen in AGES!, their son Tim (who has a leather shop in Rogue River), and Bob's wife Catherine. The guys went to the barn and got the machine moved close to the front barn door. The girls and I had wine! It was a nice visit!

All I know. Happy Saturday. Nuff said. Ciao.

My Mom ~ Welfare Rates ~ Veggies/Salmon/Pupusas ~ Pest Control ~ Meringue Pie

Good 53º clear  but gonna get up in the 90ºs later morning!

Today was my Mom's birthday. She was born in Cleveland Ohio, to Scottish immigrant parents, at her aunt's house next door to Bob Hope's house.

1905-1994

Today would also have been Sid Hackel's (LASD SR Capt)birthday. He was the guy who would go with The Duke on Wild Goose fishing.

Mom and Sid ... HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Love & Hugs. xo

Can you believe this s**t!! No wonder nobody wants to work. They make more staying home!!! These are the welfare rates across the country......

Decided to clean some stuff out of the freezer and cook.. found some pupusas (got them at Costco... Salvadoran stuffed masa flat bread. Thicker than corn tortillas.) stuffed with cheese, a salmon steak, frozen green beans, frozen peas, chopped bell peppers, and in the fridge some Chelada (GOOD!!!)

I put the veggies in the crockpot, topped with the salmon steak (all frozen) and put some clarified butter (ghee) on the salmon. Added in some Chelada for moisture. Turned on high for 2 hours, then to low for 3. The last hour I added three pupusas on top.

When I plated it the pupusa went on the bottom, then the salmon, then the veggies, and I sprinkled on some mozzarella cheese.
OMGOOOOD!!!

Historical haps and famous births for this date:
Japan surrenders on my Mom's birthday. The treaty was signed on mine!
Births.. Julia Child, Debra Messing, Ben Affleck .....

Yesterday the Pest Control guy, Jimmy Stewart (no, not the actor... he died in 1997) was here. We toured the barn. He said what I thought was mouse or ground squirrel droppings was bat guano. They are getting in but no evidence of them nesting in there. Today Darin comes out and starts tearing out unprotected insulation on the stairs and cleaning out some of the mess. Then they will enclose, under the eves, the openings to the barn where the birds are going. What a mess! THEN I found out one of the guys coming out to help with this is a former Dodger catcher (1983-1987), Jack Fimple!!!!
HOW FUN!!! Being an old Dodger fan I can't wait to meet him!!!

All I know. Happy TGIF. Nuff said. Ciao.

Lemon Meringue Pie Day

AND....

Relaxation Day is a day to kick back and do nothing. Ahhhh! What a great day.

The stresses, the hustle and bustle seemingly consumes us, every day of the year. Even Sundays are no longer days of rest and relaxation. There never seems to be a day to just kick back and relax.  For those us with a hectic lifestyle, Relaxation Day is a day to look forward to. It provides a break from the madness of your busy work and personal schedule. Todays is the day to enjoy either doing absolutely nothing, or partaking in your favorite relaxation activity.
Avoiding stressful activities today is the rule. For example, if golf is your favorite hobby, yet it can cause you stress, then make plans to play golf another day. Spending the day in a hammock is a far more appropriate activity.
Top  Ten ideas to enjoy on Relaxation Day:
  • Do nothing today
  • Go to a Spa
  • Go fishing
  • Play a round of golf(caution: not always relaxing)
  • Lounge around in a hammock
  • Take a bubble bath
  • Spend the day at the beach
  • Go to the  movies
  • Do a little gardening (no heavy duty work, though)
  • Have a picnic in the park

Weather ~ Mr. Lizz-ard ~ TBT ~ Ruth ~ Pickled Fruits/Veggies ~ Thoughts ~ Big Dan Me Paul ~ Bucks ~ Yoda ~ Orange Creamsicle Cookies

Good 54º cloudy morning. Wow, so much cooler. Nice! Even slept without the AC on last night! But that will change fast in the next few days.
The rain we got yesterday morning soon dissipated and it wasn't even enough to measure. They got more in Medford, but the storm was moving in a more northeast direction so missed a lot of us to the west. It was nice while it lasted and boosted my mood from "it's hot" "it's humid" "it's smokey" crankiness ... to OH BOY RAIN! Smile.
This am:

Looked out my window, and sometimes the wildlife isn't exactly what you are looking to photograph... one is on top and one facing down on the side on the left. "Mister Lizz-ard is out in the yard."

It's Throw Back Thursday! Yipppeeeee.....
Kristen and Brian .. Christmas 1989. Such cuties!
I posted this on Kristen's FB page and a friend of her's said, "Ha ha ha ... only in California, barefoot and shorts at Christmas!"

Today is my friend and President of Jackson Co Republican Women, Ruth Broadman's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Ruth!!! xoxo

Now here's a super easy way to pickle fruits and veggies....
For 2 pounds of fruit or veggies combine  3 cups white vinegar, 1½ cups water, ¾ cup sugar, 3 T. pickling spice, 1 T peppercorns, and 2 t. salt. Bring to boil and simmer 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add 1 jalapeño and 4 dill sprigs. Pour over your favorite veggies or fruit and refrigerate at least an hour. Crunch crunch yum.

This was in Redbook. Think about carrots, radishes, cucumbers, peaches, pineapple.... anything you'd eat raw. Store in refrigerator in air tight container up to a week. (sorry, scan didn't come out too good!)

I had some thoughts... I know...rare! But I was thinking that people who design cars don't drive with purses. People who design dishwashers, don't take into consideration that tiny little hole you are supposed to pour the Jet Dry or Finish into from the bottle holding it horizontal! Those who design dishwashers don't ever do dishes!

The other day I was in Ace and Big Dan decided to take a selfie of he and I. Paul photobombed us! LOL ....... I gave him a devil tail and horns!

These two showed up the day before yesterday.. ever see a buck squat? LOL...

Here is Gabe Ramirez (LASD ret) with his and Ann's new Corgi... the one I call Yoda!  Such a cutie!!! Oh, and you too Gabe!

Historical haps and famous births for today:
Steve Martin, Susan St. James, Magic Johnson ...

Yesterday Dude was overwhelmed with company coming up to our house. First was Paul, who came to see what my Mitsubishi heat/ac units looked like and how the plumbing was done. Then the Pacific Power guy to read the meters. Then the UPS guy to deliver a package (nope, not Dave, Dude's dad) and then Chris and Carl came to look at the boat that is for sale.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy TBT. Ciao.

Rain ~ Williams ~ Bacall ~ Pat ~ Gnocchi/Salmon ~ Bruiser ~ Weed Eater ~ Fillet Mignon and Lefties

Good 59º raining morning. No thunder so far. Knock wood. Heard it start about 5am. Came down HARD for about 1-2 minutes. Stopped. Drizzling for the past hour or so. Very light. Radar shows it all moving northeast...

Yesterday it was 84º and so humid at noon. The pressure started dropping. I checked the Wunder map and all the radar was to the east and north of us.  It got really windy in the afternoon but was still 85º. ICK!

Here's more on Robin Williams:

There was a good show about Robin on Access Hollywood last night and will be another one tonight.

And then Lauren Bacall died yesterday.

Here is a list of celebrities who died so far in 2014:

A special birthday today, Patrick Reardon (LASD ret). HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAT!!!! Hope you have a wonderful day!
This taken about 4 years ago when Pat stopped by to say hi on his way back to Washington state.

Historical haps and famous births, click here:
Alfred Hitchcock, Don Ho.......

I did it again... At the market the other day I picked up some gnocchi, so wanted to fix it a different way. Canned salmon, artichoke hearts, chives, basil, sliced mushrooms, Mediterranian spice blend (which is called Za'atar. Contains sumac, thyme, white sesame seed, and oregano. www.thespicehouse.com ), and Trader Joe's clarified butter (salt free butter and low fat milk... also called "ghee". Great for sauces:  http://whatscookingamerica.net/Q-A/ButterGhee.htm   ..  http://www.marthastewart.com/332877/ghee  )

So................ cook the gnocchi in salted boiling water, drain. In the pan I put the clarified butter, gnocchi, chives, basil, and spices. Get a little color on the gnocchi. Then added in the salmon, mushrooms, and artichoke hearts.
Heat well. OMGOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!

When I took the lid off the salmon I drained it into a dish for Bruiser. Talk about a PIG. He gulped it down!!!

Speaking of the Bruise... on the AOL sign in screen they have different pictures.. here's one of them:

That's my guy, white paws and all!

This is good....

Yesterday I finally got around to being brave, putting on my big girl panties, and putting together the new Workz battery powered Weed Eater. Had it for over a month now! Anyway, I almost did two things, take it to Brian to figure out or to my neighbor Frank. I was so frustrated. I had to attach the guard and the wheels ... then I had to figure out how to change it's elevation, use the handle (locked or unlocked) and all that other stuff. I was just about to give up when the guard finally went into place! Then I got the screw in the right hole. Then... the wheels. OMG. I was so thrilled when it started!!!
Now I have some work to do.... well, when it cools off and the rain stops!

All I know. Happy Hump Day. Nuff said. Ciao.

And also...................
Left Handers Day

If you are a Leftie, Then Left Handers Day is just for you!
Left Handers, also commonly referred to as Southpaws, are the brunt of more than their share of jokes all year long. How do I know? Yup, you guessed it! It ain't easy being a leftie. But those of us who are, would have it no other way. Lefties are proud of it.
The world is built for right handers. Examples are everywhere. For example:
  • In school, have you ever seen a left handed desk? They don't exist.
  • Many left handed items cost more.
  • Novelty coffee mugs are made with the picture or text for a right handed pick-up.
  • Scissors for for right handers. Only a lefty would understand this.
  • The computer mouse you are using as you read this is designed for right handers.
Did you Know? Right handed people operate in the left side of the brain. Left handed people use the right side. Therefore, only left handed people are in their right mind.
Left Hander's certainly earned the right to have a day dedicated to them. August 13th is that day. Take a minute to appreciate your left handed friends and loved ones. Don't forget to send them a Left Handed Day Ecard to show your respect.
Remember today and every day: "Lefties have rights!"
As lefthanders, we never do anything right....kewl!
Left Handed Facts and Trivia:

  • Sinistrophobia is the fear of left-handedness or things on the left side.
  • While many people are left handed, very few are 100% left handed. For example, many Left handers golf and bat right handed. On the other hand, there is a high percentage of righties who are 100% right-handed.
  • Lefties are also called "southpaws". The term was coined in baseball to describe a left handed pitcher.
  • Tuesdays are Lefties luck day.
  • Only about 10% of the population is left handed.
  • During the 1600's people, thought left handers were witches and warlocks.
  • International Left Hander's Day was first celebrated on August 13, 1976. It was started by Lefthander's International.
  • They say everyone was born right handed, and only the greatest overcome it. (he,he,he)
  • It is believed that all polar bears are left handed. Also see Polar Bear Day.
  • There is a rumor that octopuses have but one right hand. Scientists are diligently studying this issue.
