Rain ~ TBT ~ Koda and Friend ~ Caramelized Onions ~ Shirah ~ Bruiser and Toy ~ Pigs In Blanket

Good 47º drizzling cloudy morning. Rained hard last night. Started in afternoon on and off. Got almost 1/2" of the wet stuff. Looks like more today..... See, getting my truck washed Sunday did the trick. Now it will get wet and dirty. Darn!

Throw Back Thursday... Jerry on his restored (he did it) John Deere (which is now owned by former Wilsonite Jon Harting. LOL, Jon owns a John!)

Last evening was interesting. On March 23rd I posted a story of lost dogs..... a golden and a pitbull who showed up here. I called the numbers on the dog tag and the owner's daughter showed up and got the dogs....
Koda is the golden.. well, he showed up again last night and with a different little cutie pup... I called the first number on is tag and Sean showed up to get them. He said the other dog belonged to his neighbor. We discussed several neighborhood issues (idiot neighbor and shots fired in abundant numbers and some in the middle of the night). Nice guy.  Dogs home and I am relieved. Of course I fed them some Beneful dry dog food and they had water. Dude was put in the house before I let them in the yard. All worked out ok.

Slow Cooker Caramelized Onions

Here is a great idea. I'm thinking Leah, my hairdresser, put me onto this. Only the recipe was to use a few pats of butter, this is better and lower in calories. I cut up 3 onions that were starting to get old, a red one and two white ones. Next time I will use 6 onions. Slice into thin strips. Put in slow cooker, drizzle in olive oil. Toss well with tongs or a couple forks. Add salt and pepper if you desire. Cook on low for 12 hours. I put mine on at 8:30pm so they would be done when I got up and I could check them the last couple of hours to make sure they weren't burning at all... As it was, with only three onions they were done at 6:30 when I got up. I checked on line for recipes and found Monica's :
Scroll down through Monica's blog for the Slow Cooker version. She cooked her's on high but I cooked mine on low. She gives ideas what to do with them... you can also; mix them in with scrambled eggs, toss with pasta and an Alfredo sauce, top grilled steak/chicken/pork/fish, add to your steamed green beans or broccoli, layer in bottom of pie crust for your quiche recipe, put on a burger.

After I took them out of the slow cooker I tasted them. OMG! Soooooooooooo good I wanted to eat the whole bowl full! You can put them in zip bags and freeze them for later use. They should keep fine in the fridge for about 3-4 days.

Animals Stealing Food ~ WORK ~ 50+ Deviled Egg Recipes ~ Cherry Cheesecake

Good 43º gloomy cloudy morning.

This is hilarious....

A funny, truth?, from my friend Gator...
A highly dangerous virus called "Weekly Overload Recreational Killer" (WORK) is currently going around. If you come in contact with this WORK virus, you should immediately go to the nearest "Biological Anxiety Relief" (BAR) center to take antidotes known as "Work Isolating Neutralizer Extract (WINE), "Radioactive UnWORK Medicine" (RUM), "Bothersome Employer Elimination Rebooter" (BEER), or "Vaccine Official Depression Killing Antigen" (VODKA). Please post this to raise awareness!

Ok, here's the last of my deviled egg recipes for you and your Easter Eggs.... I love to make mine with Frank's Red Hot sauce, bacon and tiny chopped tomato and cheese, pesto on occasion... Here's some great ideas:

After reading all those recipes I was hungry, but keeping the diet in mind.... I made some deviled eggs. I used Parmesan cheese (less calories), wasabi, Mrs. Dash (no salt), and non-fat yogurt. Pretty good. Satisfying.

Yesterday I went out and did some weed-eating. I worked at it until my back was screaming. Came in. Noticed Dude was out laying in the grass and the sun. All of a sudden the sun went and the rain poured down~! Dude was at the door with that look "please let me in, mom, it's raining"! I guess that is what "they" mean by 'a chance of rain'. Anyway, today looks the same.

All I know.

Rain ~ Fav Joke ~ Nightstalker ~ Deviled Chicken Egg ~ Winebulance ~ Goose and Duck

Good 43º raining morning. Was going for a fasting blood test (on going for meds I take) but refuse to take my clean truck out in this! Will go tomorrow, maybe.

Here is my favorite joke of late... I just love this!!!

This from the Glendale News Press yesterday.... YEAH!!!!!

** Correction.... "Ramirez died of complications secondary to B-cell lymphoma at Marin General Hospital in Greenbrae, Ca at 9:10pm on June 7th, 2013. He had been suffering from the effects of chronic substance abuse and chronic hepatitis C viral infection. At 53 years old he had been on death row for more than 23 years awaiting execution by the state of California. "

The death of "Night Stalker" serial killer Richard Ramirez Friday morning closes another chapter in a gruesome story that included the murders of 13 people in the mid-1980s, two of them in Glendale.
Ramirez died of natural causes at 9:10 a.m. Friday at a Bay Area hospital, corrections officials confirmed to the L.A. Times. He was convicted by a Los Angeles jury for the 13 killings that terrorized Southern California in the mid-1980s.
Sentenced to death, Ramirez had been serving time on death row in San Quentin since 1989.

This recipe is a little late for Easter, but still so cute and sounds like a good deviled egg without making it into a chicken!

6 hard-boiled eggs
1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup ranch salad dressing
1 t. Dijon mustard
dash pepper
5 carrot chips
12 capers
fresh dill sprigs
Cut a think slice from the bottom of each egg so it sits flat. Cut a top third from each egg. Carefully remove yolks, place in small bowl, and mash. Add cheese, salad dressing, mustard, and pepper. Stir until smooth. Spoon into egg white bottoms, replace tops.

Cut 12 feet and 12 small triangles for beaks from carrot chips.

Gently press the capers into the filling for eyes, add beaks. Insert dill sprig in top of eggs for tuft of feathers. Place feet in front of chicks. Chill until serving.
Nutrition facts: 1 stuffed egg = 145 calories.

.......too bad he wasn't caught and put in an oven to die! JUSTICE.

2000 – In a pre-dawn raid, federal agents seize six-year-old Elián González from his relatives' home in Miami, Florida.
Commentators have suggested that the Elián González affair may have been a factor in voters' decisions in the 2000 United States presidential election, which could have affected the close outcome in Florida. Al Gore's handling of the matter may have been as great a factor as anger by the predominantly Republican Cuban community over the boy's return to Cuba. Gore initially supported Republican legislation to give the boy and his father permanent residence status, but later supported the Administration position. He was attacked by both for pandering and being inconsistent.

2008 – The United States Air Force retires the remaining F-117 Nighthawk aircraft in service.
