Quail ~ Queen ~ Boudin ~ Biscuits

Good 42º high clouds morning. Supposed to stay cloudy today with a chance of rain tomorrow. Yesterday was a "no spraying day" with 25 mph wind gusts! Windy all day. Howling wind.

Yesterday I heard this quail calling...
and sitting in the grapevines .....
Their call is odd sounding.... go to this site, scroll down to the 'calls' and listen to the first one... that is what he sounded like...

Thought this so funny. Queen Elizabeth getting a laugh as her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, stands guard outside Buckingham Palace......

Interesting yesterday.. I had ordered a "Mom's Day" breakfast package for Kristen from Boudin Bakery
in San Francisco.

It was on a "2 day shipping" by FedEx. It was to be delivered on Friday. I checked the tracking number after Kristen didn't say anything about receiving a package. Sure enough the stupid FedEx driver said at 6:30pm an attempt was made to deliver but the school was closed. DUH! It's a school!!! So I wrote Boudin and told them of my frustration. They called me yesterday and apologized, said they were going to contact FedEx, and Kristen would get the shipment yesterday as well as another shipment of "fresh breads" and an apology from Boudin on this coming Friday. Nice. Glad they did that. Good company and I'm happy now. EXCEPT that Kristen never received the package yesterday~! FedEX you are on my LIST!

Mom's Day Lunch ~ B & J's Backyard Project ~ Jumping Frogs ~ Fruit Cocktail Cake

Good 47º, few scattered clouds, morning.

Wayyyyy too funny! :

Here is another WD-40 hint:
WD-40 can also keeps pests at bay. Spray windowsills, door frames and eaves to keep yellow jackets and hornets from building nests.

Historically this date...
1846Mexican-American War: The United States declares war on Mexico.

and a bunch of other bad stuff happened ... Patty's brother Hal died in 2008... we're still mourning him! Great guy!

Births this date include...
A whole bunch of people, of which none are of interest to me.

Yesterday was so nice. Jen and Brian had Jean and I over for lunch. Table was lovely, set out on the patio. Lunch was a "do it yourself" sandwich with bread and cheese rolls, deli meats, cheeses, watermelon, crackers and guacamole. Dessert was a "do it yourself" ice cream bar. YUMMMM!!!

The Moms... (yummm... she had Bridgeview chard!)

Sami's watermelon smile. Tucker's ice cream concoction.

The only thing missing??? Kristen, Alex, and Jack! ♥ ♥ ♥

Here's Brian and Jen's project. They had a hot tub on a platform with a fence around it. Sold the tub, removed the fence. Built a step and next will be a U-shaped bench with pillows. Deck has been coated with a paint like the kind that
is sprayed in the bed of pickup trucks to make it impenetrable. It will have a fire pit in the center. Nice!
Brian is even going to hang his projection screen and projector opposite so programs and games can be watched from the seating pit. The projector projects what is on the TV! So cool. He had it outside in the yard for the Super Bowl.

I'm claiming my seat for this years Super Bowl now! In the pit!

It's The Little Things (from a book Jean gave me)
"When someone says 'Bless you' after you sneeze."

Before I went to Brian's I stopped at The Grange to pick up a new motor for the sprayer. Took it to Dave when I got back home. He came up about 5 with the sprayer all fixed and the new motor working great! PJ followed him on the mower and we sat and had a glass of wine. Dave tried the cinnamon whiskey  and LOVED it! Guess we have another convert! Guess I'm spraying weeds today~! YEAH!

Mom's Day ~ Dee ~ Conrad & Laura ~ Dry Onion Soup & Taco Seasoning ~ Fudge? Mmmmmm

Good 49º clear sunny morning. Hit 90º yesterday. Tough working in the yard.....very high humidity!

The sprayer has a major problem with the pressure gauge, etc. Going to pick up a new motor-whatever at the Grange today and take it to Dave to install. The sprayer is probably at least 12-13 years old, so in need. Will get my weed spraying done one of these days! In the mean time, pulling weeds and hand spraying. UGH.

My Mom. Happy Mother's Day. I love and miss you so much!

Make your own Dry Onion Soup Mix and Taco Seasoning and store in small mason jars....This is soooo much HEALTHIER than those you buy at the store!! They contain a TON of stuff that is not good for you!!

Make your own Taco Seasoning:
... 1/2 cup chili powder
1/4 cup onion powder
1/8 cup ground cumin
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon sea salt
Put ingredients into a jar and shake. Sprinkle on ground beef while cooking (or ground chicken, turkey, pork.....)

Make your own Dry Onion Soup Mix:
2/3 cup dried, minced onion
3 teaspoons parsley flakes
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons turmeric
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper

Mix all ingredients in a jar, then give the jar a good shake. I'd recommend shaking the jar to mix the ingredients well before each use.
Use 4 tablespoons in a recipe in place of 1 packet of onion soup mix. Store this in a dry, cool place.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Sunday. Going to Brian and Jen's for brunch. Ciao.

Panorama ~ Princes ~ Plumbridge ~ Beer ~ Knotty & Gang

Good 54º (heat wave!) morning. Gadz. Summer has arrived. Dang. Wanted more Spring. Was 90º yesterday, today will probably be the same.

Because it's so warm I have the dining room windows open. All I can hear is that danged rooster up at the neighbors. I'd like to strangle him! WHY would you want roosters???? They are as irritating as someone sitting next to you chewing with their mouth open!

And here is the Princess I apparently disturbed taking pictures! LOL

Today is my nephew's birthday. Jim Plumbridge, real estate agent at Lake Tahoe in Tahoe City, former USN, husband, dad, golfer ...  HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIMMINY CRICKET!!!! HUGS. Lookin' GOOD! xoxo

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Got this from Ike Saben (ret LASD) .... omg.
"The European Union (EU) has granted a permit to an Austrian brewery to officially use the controversial name of their beer: Fucking Hell."
It is a fully legitimate permit. "Hell" in German means 'light' and the beer is produced in the town of Fucking.
... and yes, there really is a town called Fucking.
Also, I looked up "hell" in German...
adjective:
leicht             light, easy, lightweight, simple, slight, mild
licht               light, bright, thin, sparse
hell                light, bright, pale, clear, fair, high
All of this apparently has angered the population of Fucking! Or should I say, it's angered the whole Fucking population!
....would you believe, smoking killed him! Geeze people. Stop smoking!  It kills. AND you smell bad!
I really wanted to cook some shrimp yesterday, but in the market I could only find shrimp from Thailand and Viet Nam. NO THANKS! They grow them in ponds with human excrement. UGH. I want shrimp caught off the southern coast of the good old US of A !
So, I made a quesadilla with American and provolone.
Yesterday Jason was here finishing up the weed-eating. I took the Maggs and Dude on a ride down to Jason's folks to pay him... then the pups posed ... with Knotty...
.... for my friends.... who asked for a Maggie fix! xo
Picked up Bruiser from the vets. He had his ear flushed again and an antibiotic put in the ear canal. They had to sedate him for this so when I picked him up at 5 he still wasn't out of it completely. A total nut case, running from one end of the house to the other. He finally settled down about 9pm.
All I know. Tucker's team will be playing today but he and family will be in Glendale Oregon for one of Tucker's pal's birthday party. I will work in the yard. Will take the sprayer down to Dave first thing so he can figure out why the danged thing won't run! Again.
Happy Saturday. Nuff said. Ciao.
Eat What You Want Day
What would you like to have to eat today? Okay, great.....health permitting, go ahead and have any and all of your favorite foods and snacks. Because today is Eat What You Want Day.
International Migratory Bird Day celebrates the incredible journey that migratory birds take each year. They travel thousands of miles between breeding grounds in North America, and their winter homes in Central and South America. Organizers say this is a day to both support, and to increase awareness of conservation efforts in support of migratory birds. They also suggest a field trip into a woods to look for and enjoy migrating birds.
