More Mowing ~ Watcher ~ Donna Walsh ~ Shrimp Scampi

Good 49º (heat wave!) morning. Cloudy but no rain predictions. Weird, since I did have my truck washed!

Here we go.... the 4th day in a row I haven't had to turn on the heater in the morning this year! Norm for Oregon is heater on in the morning, AC on in the afternoon. You dress for the weather .... warm jacket and shorts! Interesting part of the country... weather will change as soon as you get used to it. People here dress sort of like this little girl...she must be an Oregonad!

The first 5 days after the weekend, are the hardest.

Yesterday I mowed.... and mowed..... before and after pictures....

Probably too hard to tell the difference...
....from where I was mowing ... to the house...

.... and I think this is a lilac bush.... ???

Historically this date.....
1967 – After refusing induction into the United States Army the day before (citing religious reasons), Muhammad Ali is stripped of his boxing title.

1986 – A fire at the Central library of the City of Los Angeles Public Library damages or destroys 400,000 books and other items.

1992Los Angeles riots: Riots in Los Angeles, California, following the acquittal of police officers charged with excessive force in the beating of Rodney King. Over the next three days 53 people are killed and hundreds of buildings are destroyed.
............ IDIOTS!

2004 – Oldsmobile builds its final car ending 107 years of production.

........LOL, when I was doing 911/Calls for Service I would get a call of a vehicle but no description, so I'd put out that it was an "OldsmoBuick".

2005Syria completes withdrawal from Lebanon, ending 29 years of occupation.

And births this date include...
1936 – April Stevens, American singer (Nino Tempo & April Stevens)

1951Dale Earnhardt, American race car driver (d. 2001)
........his death was tragic and so sad.

1954 – Jerry Seinfeld, American comedian

1958 – Michelle Pfeiffer, American actress

1968Carnie Wilson, American singer (Wilson Phillips)
... she had struggles with her weight but now is thin, married, has children, and is happy. I was a HUGE Beach Boys fan and even named my son after Carnie's dad, Brian Wilson! Greg Lundell (Wilson '63) and I would do the surfer's stomp at school dances together, while everyone else was doing the 'corrido rock' !!! (Hi Greg!)

1970Andre Agassi, American tennis player

Ok, now this is FUN! Sent to me by Ike Saben..... Thanks Ike!

Last evening I met with Donna Walsh, artist, to purchase one of her paintings, the black wolf, titled "Watcher". This painting hypnotized me. You can stand at any angle and he is looking at you, his eyes follow you....

For now he's sitting atop the wood stove. By winter I will have to figure out where to hang him! Will have to name him too. Suggestions?

Donna is a really neat gal. Liked her right away! She will have a website up soon, will let you know when. Apparently her mom was an actress and had been in 80+ movies. I have to ask her what her mom's name is! Duh. I was too involved with the painting and the brain was turned off!! Maybe we can meet for a glass of wine sometime!

Came home and had a can of Progresso Light Zesty Santa Fe Style to which I added diced celery and fresh tomato. Always good and low in calories but filling.

Today is my former neighbor, Bill Hilton's, birthday. He lived up the hill here from me, but sold his place and moved to a smaller less upkeep home. He was in Hitler's Youth Corps and the German Army. When he found out the Germans killed all those Jews and not the Americans, he left Germany at the end of the war and came to America, never to go back! Good man. Good American. He is 88 years old today.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday. Ciao.

Yesterday since Tucker was sick I didn't attend the baseball game. Went shopping at Safeway. Lots of goodies on sale.. one of my favs... Progresso Lite Soup. Yes! And skinless/boneless chicken thighs on sale. YEAH. Got some in the crockpot cooking for Maggie as we speak. On the way up my drive there was a covey of quail...
And watching me watching them was a ground squirrel.....

This morning the elk were back.... apparently walking out in front of the house when Dude started barking at them and they ran up the hill....

Interesting... Twinkies will be back~!

Ok, how stupid is California? I'll let you read this for yourself... Apparently to the Dems in California, being a citizen of this country is not important! Tell that to our releatives who came here, took the tests, and swore their allegience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SACRAMENTO, California (AP) -- The California Assembly passed a bill on Thursday that would make the state the first in the nation to allow non-citizens who are in the country legally to serve on jury duty.
Assemblyman Bob Wieckowski, D-Fremont, said his bill, AB1401, would help California widen the pool of prospective jurors and help integrate immigrants into the community. The bill passed 45-25 largely on a party-line vote in the Democratic-controlled Assembly and will move on to the Senate. One Democrat - Assemblyman Adam Gray, of Merced - voted no, while some other Democrats did not vote.

If you have never seen this Transformer Owl....watch.

After I got home from shopping Dave called. He had the sprayer ready to test. He'd taken the flat tire to the tire store and had a new inner tube put in it. He cleaned off the connectors to the fuse and it started right up! YES. Thanks Dave. You are a BIG help and a good friend! .... until you are better paid! (check is in the mail!)

Came back home and dinner was a mini meatloaf stuffed with spinach and ricotta cheese, drizzled with sweet hot chili sauce, and rice with veggies.

Today my friend Liz Duncan (Sgt. LASD) is celebrating her daughter Savanah's 5th birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SAVANAH!! Pretty girl!!!

Full Moon ~ Elk ~ Tree Bruise ~ Musashi w/ Nancy

Good 42º clear full moon morning.....

Woke up too early. Dark. Had hot tea. Then noticed something out of the corner of my eye..... an elk! In my front yard. A cow all alone. DANG if I didn't leave my big camera in the car! Sheeeesh! So took some pictures with my little Kodak...

Enough of this, so went out and got the Canon from the car.

I posted two videos (short 30-40 seconds) on Youtube....

The Bruise went out with me and he was showing off his tree climbing skills...

Yesterday I picked up Nancy (Ace Dave's bride!) and we went to Grants Pass to Musashi for lunch....

When we got out of my car this guy was coming along with his bicycle and stopped and asked "Who is the Marine?" (USMC sticker on back window of truck) I said, "My husband and son." He then bragged about being in the Navy, "CSI at Pendleton". Showed me his USN belt buckle. I told him my son's last name is Pendleton and he was at Camp Pendleton too. This guy thought that was great, we high-fived, and he went on his way.

Tim is the Sushi Chef at Musashi. Yeah, a Japanese chef at a Japanese restaurant!
Our little waitress was Mijo (not sure of spelling) born in Japan. She is darling.

Nancy and I had the 'Sashimi Bento' ... fresh sashimi (tuna, salmon, yellowtail), shrimp and vegetable tempura, pot stickers, and rice. YUMMMM! And cold saké. We had a green salad prior, the the BEST Asian dressing! You could just drink the dressing!
Happy belated Birthday Nancy!
Great place. We want to go back. We were early, why nobody else is there. Lovely decor and tables for 4 or a crowd! A lady sat down next to us, Jennifer, and we got to talking. She works at the Kitchen Store in town and we all hit it off. Plan on a girl's day with Jennifer soon.

1296Battle of Dunbar: The Scots are defeated by Edward I of England.
Dunbar is a family name, Mom's side, and King Edward I invaded Scotland because he was pissed that King John Balliol refused to support the English military action in France. He was a dork anyway, but caused battlefield losses. The Dunbar Castle is the remnants of one of the most mighty fortresses in Scotland. What it did look like and today the ruins...

Panorama ~ Lemon Zucchini Bread ~ Clean Ride ~ Sushi

Good 39º (warm!) morning. Was in the low 80ºs yesterday and today will hit the high 80ºs.

The vet's office called yesterday morning and said Dude's tick and heartworm panels came back negative. YEAH!!!! He's now wearing his new flea/tic collar and has had his dose of heartworm meds for the next 30 days. Sigh.....

Old joke:
The Doctor gave a man six months to live. The man couldn't pay his bill, so the doctor gave him another six months.

Ok, that zucchini bread got me drooling. I found the following.... Lemon Zucchini Bread....OMG! I am a lemon freak and LOVE zucchini bread...this will be perfect!

Took the ride to the carwash yesterday. Washed, waxed, clean inside and out. What a treat! And all the while they were working on it, I had my iPad because they have free wifi. Fun.

Ever wonder how a key works in a lock.....
