Bruiser ~ Wild Weather ~ Quinoa/Rice Shrimp ~ Jim&Dawn ~ Italian Time ~ Eggs Benny

Good 36º cloudy (again) morning.

Such a tragedy in Boston. Scary. Lots of horrible horrible injuries. Prayers to those who lost loved ones and prayers for the injured. Watch this slideshow if you can....

I have to tell you, Bruiser is one nutty cat and he makes me laugh every single day! Yesterday I was out feeding the geese and he jumped up in the tree. No camera, natch. He went from one skinny branch to another going higher and higher. I said I was coming in the house and he just looked at me. Fine. I heated up the bathroom and was ready to shower, when he was standing at the door. He came in, came into the bathroom. I said ok, you can stay if you want, but left the door ajar. He laid down on the bathmat and just stayed while I showered. Nut. Now he's laying on my desk, hampering my tea drinking and keyboard use.......

I went to my yearly cardiology check up yesterday in Medford. On the way there the sky was amazing... such wild and threatening cloud formations...dark and then sun and blue sky behind them...

Table Rock:

Then there was this trooper doin' the work of the Lord.....

So.... I come out of the doctor's office and apparently just missed quite a hail storm...

One direction it was dark and foreboding, the other direction....blue sky... and of course....

it looked like I was lucky to miss this mess.....

Came home, made dinner..... Quinoa with Sprouted Rice, shrimp, basil, leeks, garlic, green chiles, tomatoes, hot sauce...

I cooked the Quinoa/Rice, chiles, herbs, seasonings in the rice cooker. Then stirred in the shrimp and tomato to let it warm. Drizzled hot sauce over all... OMGOOD!!!!!!

Watched TV, chatted on the phone with girlfriends, chatted fact time with Jack on my iPad ...our 14 year old birthday boy. Sooooo cute! Dude came in with Maggie and both laid on the carpet and napped. Dude was good! He did do some sniffing ... but was calm and happy.

On this date in 1983, friends Jim and Dawn Forbus were married. Wow, 30 years guys! CONGRATULATIONS!
Dawn, you are as beautiful as ever!

Jim was an LASD Deputy and then moved to Washoe County and was a Deputy there until he retired. Now he's enjoying his granddaughter, Audrey, and being Papa!

I had seen this before Deewayne PBerger sent this to me, but decided for those of you who hadn't seen it.... you need to! Love those Italians!!!!

Dinner on Saturday..... Another pie.....

Pre-made crusts, 8oz Ricotta cheese, 1 cup plain Greek yogurt, 1 cup Parmesan cheese, 3 eggs, garlic/herb seasoning, bunch of asparagus - chopped, about 3 big handfuls of spinach (sauteéd and drained well), bunch of radishes (if you have never tried cooked radishes - they are GOOD! if not, use grape tomatoes cut in half), 1½ cups chopped ham (or cooked chicken, or cooked beef .....), your favorite hot sauce (mine is Frank's Red Hot mixed with a cube of melted butter per jar)....

Mix the eggs, cheeses, yogurt, seasonings, in mixer. Fold in the asparagus, radishes, spinach, and ham. Put top crust on and then drizzle with hot sauce. Make vent cuts in top crust. Bake 350º about 1 hr 15 min (or until brown on top). Let sit 15 minutes before cutting. YUMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!

Yesterday was interesting. Dude likes sleeping on Maggie's bed. BUT, when she's outside he sleeps on the other bed. Here he is... through the door...

Maggs and I took the trash our and put the can on the road yesterday afternoon. On our way back the Bruise was "hunting" ...

He was trying to be incognito! Can you say "camoflage"? or as Jerry would say, "cammo-suage"! LOL. When I got back to the house and came out on the front porch I called him... he came RUNNING! Funny boy. Still not used to Dude, but give them time.

Patriots Day

Some people know little or nothing about Patriot's Day. To New Englander's, it is a big, big day. In the states in New England, it's a holiday with a day off of work. Banks, schools, post offices, and businesses have the day off. Patriot's Day commemorates the Battle of Lexington and Concord on April 19, 1775. This battle began the American Revolutionary War. It also honors the "Midnight Ride of Paul Revere", that evening when Paul Revere rode through town warning the colonists that "The Red Coats are coming!"

....and it's also National Glazed Spiral Cut Ham Day! (That is the kind of ham I used in the pie!)

Adele & Gary ~ Tucker Sami Jen Brian ~ Dude! ~ Guv-ment Check

Good 31º clear and cccccold morning! Ice everywhere.

This was yesterday....

A friend went to a gun show recently and said he spent all day, big show, lots of people buying handguns, a lot of people just looking. Hundreds signing up to join NRA - WOW! The best sign he saw was at a booth that read:
"IF YOU VOTED FOR OBAMA, WE DO NOT WANT YOUR BUSINESS. YOU ARE TOO DAMN STUPID TO HAVE A FIREARM!"
Now, that is a REAL background check!

I'm sorry, yesterday was birthdays of two special people and I forgot to post them.....

Adele (Easton) Graves, friend from high school..... her birthday special because her daughter flew in from Georgia to help her celebrate. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEL!!
(Del and her little Barkley)

AND yesterday was Gary Adkison's birthday. He's the Bird Man of Rogue River. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GARY!

Yesterday was Tucker's 3rd baseball game. They won 16-9. Tucker, as usual played GREAT! The coach on the opposing team was a loud-mouthed old fart. None of us in the stands liked him! Let the kids play, for goodness sake! Quit telling them how to do every thing and yelling the instructions constantly!!! Jerk.

Brian helped out as an ump....

Jen, 'team mom' took pictures....

Of course Sami was "Spiderwoman" again! So fun.

Came home after the game and Dave (UPS Dave) came by with Dude. Dude is now Maggie's new brother! Dude will be living here and Dave and his kids will have visitation privileges! Dude is a sweetheart, and so far Maggie has told him her rules and he seems ok with that.

Dude is 5 or 6 years old, Dave got him "free" from a guy in the market parking lot when he was about 1 year old. Unk his background, but the "guy in the parking lot" said he was Heeler and Lab mix. ??? Here is a lab and a heeler....

Any ideas folks? He has a slightly curvy tail, his coloring is almost like Maggie's. Short hair, sort of lab ears, short hair, stocky body. Could be what he said!

Dinner was a ham/spinach/asparagus pie, but will post that tomorrow.

All I know. Tomorrow is Tax Day. I got my refund ... yeah! Nice to see that check with the government's signature!

Happy Sunday. Ciao.

Ex Spouse Day
This day is in recognition of your Ex. Someone must have been kidding when they created this day, right? Could anyone actually want to recognize their Ex? Most of us want to forget them. Hard as it may be to believe, Ex Spouse Day has indeed arrived. Once again, I will remind you that I do not create the days, I merely report them. So, please don't shoot the messenger.

Look Up At The Sky Day
Look Up at the Sky Day is a fun day to check out what's up there. 'Ya never know what might be going on up there. An asteroid or meteor may be on it's way. A solar eclipse could be on display. A flock of geese or birds may be over head (you may need to duck for cover). Or, the clouds may be forming into interesting characters and patterns. Take a few minutes out from your busy day to look up at the sky today. If nothing else, the break from the routine will be relaxing.

National Pecan Day
Pecan Day is a rather nutty day. Its a day to celebrate and enjoy popular, tasty pecans. Apparently, someone thought that it was such a great nut, that they created two days to celebrate Pecans. One in March, and the other in April. A little nutty perhaps, but true.

Name the only nut tree native to North America. ... You guessed it........ Pecan trees.

Reach As High As You Can Day
Reach as High as You Can Day is a day to expand your horizons. And, it truly will be an uplifting experience. Today, there are no limits. You can literally reach for the sky. Is there something you've wanted to "go for", and felt it was just out of reach? A new job, perhaps? Maybe a date with that cute co-worker or classmate. Whatever the challenge you face, if you reach as high as you can, you just might win the prize. And, you will never know until you try.

So, use Reach as High as You Can Day to reach and attain, or even surpass, your goals and objectives. You'll be oh, so glad that you did!
