Pickled Carrots ~ Turkeys Sky & LBB ~ Lobster Tail ~ Bell Pepper Nightmares ~ Grilled Chub

Good 40º drizzly morning. Rained on and off again all night! We'll see what today brings. So far with this storm we've gotten 1 1/2". This morning:

I had dumped out the gauge after the first 1/4"....

I had to laugh at my friend Edda's remark on her email this morning...."Watched some of Fox & Friends.....the E-Vile One is simply pretending he hasn't been Prez for 4 yrs. and is running against himself and Dubya....can't stand it!"

Yesterday I pickled some baby carrots with garlic and onion. When you chop onion, put a small votive candle on your chopping block and it will burn off the onion fumes and your eyes won't water!

The turkeys are coming back around. Have only seen a few hens, mostly Toms and Jakes.

BTW, we have always referred to the sparrows as LBBs. Little Brown Birdies!

This morning when I went to let Maggie out first thing, there was Bruiser sleeping on Maggie's "princess bed" (2 dog beds stacked on top of each other. Maggie loves it. Used to be 3 beds, but I gave one to Atlas, granddog, since he seemed to love it too!) Bruiser was comfy comfy comfy!!

Dinner last night was not creative... a lobster tail I had cooked previously when I bought two on sale at Costco, and leftover angel hair... heated with butter. OMGOOD!

I was a good mom and let Harley and Maggie have a couple bites each. Happy campers! Especially Harley!!!

Carve up a few bell peppers, make spaghetti and add a sauce. Stuff them with meat and cheese and any kind of noodle... so it looks like the guts coming out! She serves them cold, but I'd bake them in the oven in a pan with about 1/2" of water at 375º for 15-20 minutes. How fun!

National Bologna Day

Some of the best bologna I ever had .... Jerry got a 'chub' or 'horse-cock of bologna' from the butcher.. he had to order it special. Then he smoked it. Sliced it and it was HEAVENLY!

(Don't get weird, the butchers used to call the "chubs" of bologna just that .... probably back before the '70's) and it was a Navy term, "United States Navy for bologna...

"I'm heading down to the mess deck to pick up a horse c*ck sandwich for mid-rats"

Poopy Mood ~ Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake ~ Orville's Pop Corn Fiasco ~ Mole/Canning/Boston Cream Pie Day

Good 39º raining morning. Rained on and off all night again. What we missed for 80+ days, we're making up for it now. Another 1/2" since yesterday.

Yesterday I wrote a blog, as usual, but didn't send emails out stating so. I write one every day. It's always in the same place. Nobody says anything (Well, Jeannie, Patty, Trish, and a couple others comment to me, but I rarely, if ever, hear from anyone else! Even my family!!!! HINT HINT) so I get in a 'mood' at times thinking "why do I bother sending emails?" .... just me. Anyway, it's there along with today's.

Yeah yeah yeah.... pity party of one. Boo hoo.

After last night's debate.................

I made the double layer pumpkin cheesecake yesterday. Different in the fact it is only 150 calories per slice. The crust is just graham cracker crumbs sprinkled in the bottom of a pie dish. No butter. Then you add the cheesecake layer and on top of that the pumpkin layer. I topped it with whipping cream. It was DELIGHTFUL! Very light. Very good. I could have eaten the whole thing! This is a great dessert after a heavy meal.

2 8oz pkgs of cream cheese, room temp

1/2 cup sugar

1 t. vanilla

2 eggs

1 cup canned pumpkin

1/2 t. pumpkin spice (or dash ground nutmeg & 1/4 t. cinnamon)

1/3 cup Honey Maid Graham Cracker Crumbs

cool whip or any whipped cream topping

Heat oven to 350º. Beat cream cheese with sugar and vanilla. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time just til blended. Remove 1 cup of batter and place in medium bowl with pumpkin and spices. Mix well.

Spray 9" pie plate with cooking spray. Sprinkle bottom with graham cracker crumbs.

Top with cream cheese mixture. Top with pumpkin batter. Bake 40 minutes (45-50 at higher altitudes). Cool. Refrigerate. Serve topped with whipped cream. OMGOOD!!!!

Yesterday I purchased Orville Redenbacher's new popcorn bowl. UGH~!~~~ Awful. I am writing them a letter. The first batch burned. Never have I burned popcorn! The plastic film you are supposed to just "peel off" doesn't work that way. Then once you get the film open your fingers burn from the steam! The bowl is stupid. The popcorn needed spraying with I Can't Believe It's Not Butter to make it taste decent.

Good 42º dark and stormy morning! Rained all night. Looks like we got about 1/2". Coming down hard again.....

.....and OMG, there is snow on my mountain!!!

Nearly 6,700 people reported feeling the magnitude 5.3-quake when it struck late Saturday outside of King City, the U.S. Geological Survey said on its website.
USGS geophysicist Don Blakeman said the temblor struck in a "seismically active area" near the San Andreas Fault, about 90 miles southeast of San Jose. It was followed by at least four aftershocks that were greater than magnitude 2.5.

I did heat the leftover quinoa/rice mixture and have it with some seared white fish. Topped with a mixture of Tabasco Spicy Mayonnaise and honey mustard sauce. Mmmmm!!!

Yesterday I found a large container of chicken stock with carrots in the freezer, thawed it and put it the slow cooker. Added broccoli slaw, broccoli, red bell pepper, mushrooms, tossed in some quinoa, and cooked pasta bows. Boy, that was good too!! Soup sure hits the spot this time of year!

I watched my Pats and Kristen's/Olga's Jets battle it out on the football field. WOW. What a game! It wore me out!!!
