JCRW Ronald Reagan Barbecue ~ Chop Suey & Lemon Day

 

Good 64º Monday morning!

Yesterday was quite a busy and long day. It was our Jackson County Republican Women's Ronald Reagan Barbecue. It was held from 1-5pm at the Eagle Point Golf Club. Pat and I manned the Membership booth..

Lunch was wonderful, barbecued chicken with salads and desserts. The meat barbecued by Mr. Marty! He told me he's from California ... Monterey, and will be opening a barbecue restaurant in Medford in the next 6 months... he will call it Cali-Q. I look forward to that.

 

Our 'wine' lady, Sheila set a bottle of red and white on each table.

 

 

.. and at our table I enjoyed lunch with Pat, Felicity, and Val and this fun couple... Pat (another one!) and her pal Jim... Pat collected the money for the 50/50 drawing...

 

 

This Pat is going to be one of our SOW Sistas (Southern Oregon Winos) and Jim will be an 'associate member !!! LOL

 

 

 

 

Got to the golf club early and stayed late to help pack up tents, table cloths, decorations. Maggs was happy when I got home finally after 6. PJ had come up and let her inside the house when the heat got high in the afternoon.

Good 55º early morning. Up too early. Can't sleep. Groan....

Yesterday I went into town to do some shopping. Got what PJ said was an awesome yellow jacket trap. It's called Victor Yellow Jacket Magnet. Hung it up right away. Now waiting for results.

 

 

Met Jeannie and Bill at the Elks for a little whine time with our favorite bartender Willie. We had fun. A couple came in from CA who were on their way home from Eugene visiting relatives. Bill and Michelle. Nice! Sat next to us. Then their friend came in. Bill. So it was Bill - Michelle- Bill - Sue - Jeannie - AND Bill! Geeze... even the bartender was a Bill!!! Bill and Michelle bought us drinks. VERY nice folks and we had a good time chatting with them. They live near Sacramento and ride Harleys. Whoot whoot..... See that cut tomato in front. With just a bit of sea salt it was HEAVEN!!!! Lord knows one of my most favorite foods is tomatoes. Jerry didn't like tomatoes until I had our first garden and I grew him some. "OMG, he said, these are GOOD!!!" Well, nothing better than home grown and ripened on the vine. Fruit of the Gods. Fresh ripe sliced tomato on sourdough bread with BF mayonnaise. Nothing better!

My "phone chain" Jeannie and Candy (thanks Bob!) called

me to say they heard thunder over in Grants Pass. So, I gave Maggs the tranquilizers and within 45 minutes she was like..... cool man.... like wow man... all relaxed and still awake but soooooooooooooooooo laid back and unconcerned. Of course

we never got the thunderboomers here, but glad to know the pills worked and I can use them if thunder does happen.

Good 57º morning. Hot yesterday, up to 97º and today should be a few degrees cooler with the "chance" (20%) of thunderboomers. Standing by, because the vet gave me some tranquilizers yesterday for the Maggs. Only thing, she needs to take them an hour prior, so will be on the lookout and checking radar on the weather sites.

When Maggie and I went into town yesterday we ran into my neighbor Cindy ... and her grandson Evan...

He is just squishy cute. You want to eat him!!!

How sad, the Prez cut short his vacation to return to DC because of the hurricane.

This "upcoming" birthday thing is good. So far I have gotten a coupon for a free hamburger of my choice at Red Robin, a free pizza at Abby's, and $5 off a dinner at McGraths's Fish House and a free birthday sundae and..... a free framed picture of me in their birthday 'fish hat'. Hmmmmm......

TWO CHARGED IN ARIZONA WALLOW FIRE

PHOENIX – Two cousins have been charged for causing a fire that burned more than 538,000 acres in Arizona and part of Western New Mexico before it was contained. Caleb Joshua Malboeuf, 26, of Benson, Ariz.; and David Wayne Malboeuf, 24, of Tucson, Ariz., were charged in connection with the Wallow Fire, which started on May 29, 2011, in the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest. They are scheduled to make an initial appearance in federal court in Flagstaff, Ariz. on September 19, 2011.
The fire, fueled by dry and windy conditions, destroyed 32 residential structures, four commercial structures and 36 outbuildings and cost over $79,000,000 to fight. Both defendants were charged with five counts: Causing Timber to Burn, Leaving a Fire Unattended and Unextinguished, Leaving a Fire Without Completely Extinguishing It, Causing and Failing to Maintain Control of a Fire and Building a Campfire Without Removing All Flammable Material From Around the Campfire Adequate to Prevent its Escape.

Ok, my friends... I said (jokingly) in my blog yesterday that I got an iPad... at the end was the picture of my iPad (eye pad!!) Come on friends.... you're not all that spacey!

Dinner last night was a vegetable stir-fry with a clam/onion sauce.

Chopped cabbage, carrots, grape tomatoes, banana pepper, bell pepper, cubed egg plant, and broccoli.

Stir-fry veggies in olive oil. Cook pasta (Anellini), drain, and add to vegetables. Heat up the clam sauce and add some onion dip. Add to vegetable mix. YUMMMMMMMMM
